Does this sound reasonable? (Just an idea I have).
What if we ask a client what is the question they are concerned about.
Then ask them to tell us 3 answers they would like to know like:
- why did this happen
- where
- who will be there
-any question that they want answered about their question
We would ask them to draw 5 cards.
- the first card would be the past
- the next three cards (which were the questions they asked about their question) would be answered
- the last card would be the outcome or future.
Maybe this has been done before. I haven't made many spreads so I thought if the client made part of the spread or all of it, the reading then again would be that more personal.

I think it's perfectly sensible to let the client help make a spread. After all, the reading is about them and their questions, and it would be a bit silly not to let that affect what the reading is like. I would definitely adjust an existing spread to suit their questions or needs, rather than use a spread that might not be optimal for their situation.

Been there - done that...sounds good in theory, but in reality, it does not work.
Most clients are intimidated enough by Tarot, and the reading process, they really have no idea of what can and cannot 'make' a spread. It works better to allow them to take the cards rather than 'dealing' them.

Thanks,
I keep forgetting about how imtimidated people are of Tarot. The people I read for really don't care about the how we do it, they just want the readings. When I explain how I am reading it confuses them more and I really don't think they care in the big picture.

The only thing I do re spreads, is find out how much time and privacy we have. If they like, then, I might do a CC. Otherwise, I choose a three or five-card spread (I've been using my own a lot..the Four of Swords and Shield of Love Spread and getting some nice feedback).
