Have you ever had one of those days....when you wake up in the morning with a firm plan in mind and then, by making a slight change in plans....everything changes???
Well, let me tell you about my day...and yes, this is tarot-related but it might take me a few minutes to get there...your patience is appreciated! :)
I had made plans to meet some friends today for a shopping trip, followed by lunch....but I had decided not to go because, due to circumstances, I was running a little short of cash (story of my life ;) ). This was my plan when I woke up this morning: to call and cancel, pleading poverty and apologizing for my absence.
BUT...at the last minute I thought: hey, why not just go and say hello to everyone, right? Even if I don't go on this little excursion, at least it would be nice to see everyone.....so off I went.
As it turned out, we decided not to do lunch (turns out I am not the only one in a financial crisis) but we collected some change for gas and headed to Farmington, a nice college town which also happens to be the home of my FAVORITE metaphysical shop, Liquid Sunshine. Again, knowing that this would be a torturous experience...I decided it would be OK for today to just "browse".
When I entered the store, the first thing I noticed was that they had expanded their tarot deck section to about four times its original size. This, by the way, is the store where I bought my very first deck, the Crow's Magick Tarot. :) But the last time I was there, there were only maybe ten different decks to choose from. I figured, hey, I can't purchase any decks today but...might as well go and see what they've got....and come back next week!!!
As I glanced at the many new additions--Wheel of Change, Triple Goddess, Runes Oracle, Mythic, Voyager.....my eyes suddenly stopped on a lone green box sitting on top of one of the others. My heart skipped a beat as I slowly figured out what was sitting before me, in this little shop in Farmington.....
The Greenwood Tarot  :D
I was so excited I almost screamed (luckily I didn't!)...after searching high and low for this deck for over a year now, I had pretty much given up on ever owning this deck. And here it was, completely unexpected...mine for the taking...and only $32.00!!!
Ah.....yes, that's right....it suddenly hit me: I have NO money!!! :(
But I grabbed it anyway....just to hold it for a few minutes....;)
When my friend came over to see what I was holding, I excitedly told her about my long search for this deck...told her I almost got it once but the online seller informed me it was out of stock! :( And that this rare deck sells for up to $150 on ebay...which is more than I can afford.....
Seeing the excitement mixed with horror on my face....this dear friend actually offered to loan me the money for the deck!!!! :D Naturally, I accepted....and this was one of the happiest days of tarot joy I have ever known (second only to the gifted Gilded).
Sorry for the long post but....I just HAD to come here and share this experience with my tarot friends, knowing that only you could truly appreciate how I feel about today's lucky find....
As an interesting side note....these friends had been unaware of my tarot interest (obsession) until today....they were asking questions about what the cards mean, and how does a person "read" with them...I did my best to explain what tarot means to me personally. Eventually, all three of them asked if I would be willing to do a reading for them sometime!!!! Hmmm...live readings??? I agreed....knowing that it would be nice for the first live readings to be done for these three women.....
Isn't it funny....especially when you consider the fact that I almost stayed home today....
Thanks for allowing me to share this experience with you.....

Wow! That's a wonderful story, Lunie! See what happens when you dive right in to your day even though you feel like sitting it out because you feel inadequate somehow? Your friends were just happy to have another good friend along and good karma always comes back when you least expect it.

GREAT! I hope you CHARGED them for the reading..!!! At least the one who lent the money to you for the deck...Fair trade? with your reading talent...Go for it!
Glad you found the deck..now I have to go check out my shop and see what they have that I might be missing ...LOL...
Must have been meant to be, Luna...but maybe it was a doorway into making some money with reading....no reason not to do so...

What a fabulous experience! Letting yourself just go with the flow instead of deciding what the day would be is wonderful. And now, live readings--you're on your way to a new level of tarot practice.
Congratulations on the Greenwood! And now I wonder how the shop suddenly got that out-of-stock deck! It was meant for YOU.

Congrats on the Greenwood Luna!
Talk about finding a treasure. Too bad they didn't have two - you could have unloaded the second on eBay.

You lucky one! You must be doing something right. :)
I have the greenwood too, and it is a great deck. It's wonderfull on spiritual and growth stuff, as you might expect, but it's also a very practical deck. I didn't expect that from it--it was one of many wonderful surprises it had for me---and they're still coming! :)
Enjoy!!

Congratulations Luna !! I love it when the Universe gives you a reward , or a sign you are going in the right direction like that.
I had a similar experience finding the Greenwood, once online for the original price brand new, and then AGAIN in a tiny new age store in the middle of nowhere. The decks were kept down low in a glass case and when I bent down I couldn't believe what I was seeing ! A friend had wanted the Greenwood too and so I got it on her behalf. Again for the original price!
Keep thinking positive !

Thanks Tarotphelia.....this is EXACTLY how I felt yesterday....not just about finding the Greenwood, but the way the whole day went from there...one incredible blessing after another! I am definitely thinking positive, and finding more positive energy coming into my life lately....:D
Being able to discuss tarot with these friends was really cool...I had never mentioned my interest in tarot with them (or with most people) to avoid a potentially negative reaction. Imagine my surprise when all three of them were curious and interested, rather than horrified??? It was unbelievable!!! :D
Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments....I am so happy I was able to come here and share this experience with my friends...

Excellent stroke of luck, Luna! Go you for taking a chance and going out, and for having such excellent taste in friends :D
Perhaps this story can serve as encouragement for Aeclectics to visit their neighborhood esoteric shops more often ;)

I agree....I would LOVE to visit this store more often but...being a little short on cash lately, I have stayed away...too much tarot torture for me, LOL!!!
Actually, I was VERY surprised at how much they have expanded their tarot selection...just goes to show that tarot is really "taking off" right now, interest is growing....and isn't that exciting??? :D
I have made it a priority now to "visit" Liquid Sunshine at least once per month...just so I don't miss out on anything!!! })

What I find most intriguing about this experience is that you did not let money dictate your day. You let friendship lead you and ended up having quite an adventure......
I know I've done the same thing with money deciding whether I went out to play.... In the last year, I've been so poor that I had to go anyway, without money, and ended up having wonderful play times!!
What this has helped me to do is change my value system and put things like people and joy and nature first..... and let money be what it is; not take it on as some mean little dictator in my pocket!
:) Cool stuff! Thanks Luna!

Yes....absolutely!!!
The way I felt that day....even before finding the deck...it was almost dreamlike, the way things happened. Hard to explain but...the moment I decided to visit my friends, and to not let lack of money (or fear of being judged for it?) dictate my day....one thing led to another and another...all positive, wonderful moments spent with good friends!!! :))) Yes, I will always remember that day...for many reasons.

Luna what wonderful luck you are having.
I'm reading a book by Sonia Choquette
Called Trust Your Vibes
And you did just what she advises, you trusted your intuition and went even though you had no money...
Just with the expecation of a good time and that all would be well anyway.
And your inner guide richly rewarded you.
I found my Merryday in a similar way.
Was digging around in a pile of books and saw a beat up black box that look suspiciously tarot sized.
I pulled it out and it was the Merryday.
The box was wore but the cards were still shrink wrapped and in perfect shape.
Bargain priced at $12.95. :)

It was an amazing experience....the whole day I felt like my guides were right there with me....REALLY close, if you know what I mean. And I am a person who struggles daily with anxiety....I mean, it could have gone either way as far as my decision. But I am so glad that I did not allow fear to hold me back....I think I need to trust myself to venture out a little more often.....:P

Congratulations on your wonderful find! Isn't that a great feeling when a deck you've been looking everywhere finds you?! I found the Buckland Romani after searching high and low. It's also good because you don't have to have that little "should I/shouldn't I" discussion with yourself. If it didn't want to come home with you it wouldn't be there just waiting for you!! Why look a gift tarot deck in the mouth? lol
P.S. Go Maine!! I grew up in Brewer (probably only you will know where that is!) (near Bangor) but now I live in Florida. :D

What a very cool and inspiring account of the Wheel Of Tarot Fortune turning in your favor, Luna!
I think the Universe was rewarding you for taking the honest approach and just going with the flow, instead of cancelling your plan with an excuse.
Congratulations on getting your hands on a Greenwood...and for so little too!
You have really great friends! (wow...did I hear you say you were gifted with a Gilded? VERY great friends indeed! :D)
and I'm glad you got to draw them into your tarot world!
You now will have a great resource for doing live practice readings ....so when are you joining the ranks of the Professionals? :)

I believe you are right about the deck finding me, Luna...
Tarot found me this year...I don't even remember when or how...It was February...and I found Aeclectic and that was that.
I'm hooked.
I just began by telling people I read, and when they asked for a live reading, I said "Sure." And we set a time. I refused to give a reading while I was on the run...I did some "on the spot," but only when both of us had the time...so one day, your "live"reader will find you, Luna...as you begin to tell people you read.
I am still working in a profession in a school..but now, whenever I get the chance, I say, "I read Tarot." Just that simple. The questions come and then the people who want readings come forward...I know you would love it! Today my husband said: "$50. You're going to pay this reader $50?? What kind of certificate does he have? " I answered, "His 'certificate' is the people who keep coming back for more."
terri
good thread about how things "come to us, " Luna....they really do...and we just have to open the door and let them in.
