so i'm trying to build up my confidence in my reading to actually do readings for other people. :( would it be easier to do online readings or actually have the person right there infront of you? :)

Both have good and bad options
Online:
You can't ask questions unless you are using Instant Messangers or other chat options. And you can't read somebodies reaction to see if you hit a good note. No body language or tones.
In Real Life:
If you get stuck on the cards, you can't "time out". Unless you are reading for a familiar person.

Dragons_Wing,
First off, congratulations on reaching this point on your journey!!! It is indeed a very big step.
I think your question is another one that is best answered by "the best way is whatever works for you".
There are many people who feel they just don't connect with a querant if they are not physically present. On the other hand there are many people who have no difficulties with online reading.
I am a very shy person in real life. I don't feel comfortable reading face to face for people who are not close friends or close family. I have found that the anononimity (sp) of the internet gives me a cushion of comfort that lets me focus on relaying the message from the cards instead of worrying about my (for lack of a better discription) stage fright.

I have yet to do a face-to-face reading....still trying to build confidence I would say ...so I cannot compare the two.
But I have done many "distance" readings, meaning that the querent was not physically present at the time of the reading.
I have done these readings for friends and family members (well, one family member LOL) and also for people I know only through online contact.
I am always amazed at the idea that two people can have such a strong connection in spirit, even people who have never met in person...the readings I have done so far have been surprisingly accurate. By the same token, others have done distance readings for me with amazing insight and accuracy....
I am sure you will hear more of the same from others here who have had success with distance and/or online readings....if you read some of the feedback in the Readings Exchange forum, you will see how effective these readings can be....amazing!!!
I personally find these readings exciting, challenging and rewarding, both as reader and querent. I have learned so much by participating in the reading exchange...and again, if you are considering face-to-face readings but would like to build some confidence first, this is an excellent place for you to get plenty of practice. People are always up for a free reading!!! :D
Best of luck to you.....

well my biggest fear is just giving a really bad reading...like way way way off. :( i do read for friends of mine but i can ask questions easly to them and and see if i'm way off or not. and even then i do it over the phone and not since i have started doing it purly intuitivly as that seems to work way better than book meanings altho i do look to my lwb when at a complete loss

You are doing somebody a favour, trying to help, so don't worry too much =) You try to give advice, just like somebody else would.

Hi Dragons_Wing,
Its just a confidence thing, try offering just one or two readings in the reading exchange just for the practise. You might be pleasantly surprised. I tend to read mainly for myself until I offer readings in the forum - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't - its a learning experience lol

Well, Dragons_Wing.....
I have decided that today I will give my first "face-to-face" tarot reading, for my brother......
I am a little nervous, yet excited....I have read for him before (distance reading) and I feel comfortable enough not to be TOO nervous about screwing up....I guess this is the best place for me to start, with family and friends, and see how it goes.....
I will post here later and let you know how it went!

How about trying three card readings in the reading exchange. When you are comfortable with that your confidence will be stronger. Once you get your confidence built up to read, on line and in person will be easier for you. After that it will all come together step by step.
Take care,
ros
