Raffle Poll

We are considering starting a raffle. The proceeds would be given to Solandia to support the effort to upgrade the server that Aeclectic Tarot and the Forums reside on. In addition to seeking Solandia’s approval, we were wondering what the interest level of the members of Aeclectic Tarot would be in something like this. The prize packages would be created from items donated by members. We would be looking for decks, tarot bags, books, or any other related paraphernalia that we can associate with our favorite card packs. So we are looking for participation from both angles, donations for prizes AND purchasing of raffle tickets. BTW, WE= Mimers and myself...... :)

As you know, I would be willing to donate and buy tickets. For those of you who don't have access to paypal or credit cards, you could send a check to me & I could make a paypal payment on your behalf. Merc and I are trying to get an idea of how many people would buy raffles to see if this endeavor would even be worth the effort. The pupose is to upgrade Aeclectic for everyone! :) We are trying to think of something grand for a first prize. Maybe a hard to find or out of print deck if someone is willing to donate one. That is what I am hoping for. We all enjoy this forum, but sometimes we all forget how much goes into maintaining it. Even if you are not a member the rewards are many, so let's all think about giving a little back. Thanks!

I'm pretty new to AT but am already very attached to it! So I would certainly buy raffle tickets and have a tarot pouch or two I could donate and would be happy to purchase a deck for them.

What a wonderful idea! For people willing to donate books or decks or other items, how would that be handled....would the donator just send it to the winner? Or would you prefer if people made a donation to Aeclectic and the money be used to buy prizes? or both? I'm in on this one...this website is amazing and I am very willing to participate in anything that will strengthen its roots.. terri Way to go, Merc and Mimers!

Now that I'll have real decks (two weeks!) to donate, I'd certainly be willing to participate in this. How about a couple of Tarotaholic t-shirts thrown in the mix? I don't know whether I'll be able to buy raffle tickets or not - that'll depend on what my budget is after moving and home repairs and a few dozen other major expenses in the next couple of months I second Robert's suggestion that Aeclectic open a shop on Cafe Press - an Aeclectic mug wouldn't be a bad thing to sip from in the morning, and it could be done at no cost (unless you wanted to get fancy), using one or two of their basic sites.

Actually, I just contacted the moderator of the trade forum about donating a deck for either contest prize or selling it on the trade board with the proceeds going to Aeclectic. I'd donate and if the grand prize "floated my boat" I'd buy raffle tickets. However, aren't raffles illegal in some places? Woof

I third the Cafe Press idea. I'd love an AT mug. Maybe there could be a few different designs to reflect Marseille-lovers and others. :)

I wish to apologize for waiting so long to respond, especially considering the response we got.... We will not be able to run a raffle the way we had planned. There are just way too many places where such an event is illegal. We are currently working on a different idea, and will wait until we have Solandia's approved before we start working up the crowd!!!! Thank you all for your support, and hold on to those donations as we will hopefully be coming around with a different idea soon.
