I never really thought about the symbolism of the skelton. I posted this just for extra info from the Infinite Tarot.
" Torched by flames of the past
Afraid of being burned again
Vulnerable but not weak.
Skeleton is naked of flesh and muscle, vulnerable to the slightest offense. Yet, support and an upright nature is found within Skeleton. It is a fragile state, but not a weak one. Deep within its bones lies a strength that is there all the while."
Skeletons on the cards are a sign of strength which I never would have thought, just in the sense of strength to carry on.

Never really thought about the skeleton in that respect, well not in the death card anyway. Certainly adds depth to the meaning. Thanks for sharing it ros.

Skeletons are the support structure of the body. It also protects the internal organs. Without the skeleton there can be no form, no movement, nothing.

Is funny how we are unable to realise certain things because we do not see them altough we have them, this thread changed my point of view about skeletons and skulls from creepy halloween stuff to a very strong and important part of my body.

I cannot remember where I read it or heard it at the moment, but the skeleton is also the most "enduring" part of our bodies, even after death. As it is our skeleton that will remain for many years / decades after our flesh and blood has returned to the earth. All very morbid I know, but after I heard this it made me think of skeletons a little bit differently.

Wow, I hadn't thought of that. That's one that really does make you think of the image of the skeleton in a different, more positive way.

when all else is gone the skeleton remains. It was the physical structure that supported human temple--it remains a testament to what once was.--Tao

A thread to make you think... This is a real eye-opener guys.
I was contemplating what Sulis said here. And then a thought hit me.
Not only is the skeleton a support, but it determines your physical appearence. The template so to speak...
