How about computer paper and printer ink? The only time I actually write things down is in my tarot notebook....and some of that is on my laptop! I don't even write my grocery list with pen and paper! But I would love to have a pen pal! :D

I don't know!! We would all have to swap addresses with everyone else and if nothing else, we could always take turns doing long distance readings for each other....it would have to be questions that aren't too pressing, though...snail mail can take a while!
I don't think I can work out the details right now though, it's after midnight and I've been up since about 6 this morning(I guess it's yesterday morning now).
Anyone else got ideas?

how about we get a thin journal book where we post it to the next person with the reading and then that person passes it on like pass the parcel and the pages could be photocopied so we could each have a journal with readings/comments etc.
let me know what you think guys

That's a really good idea!! Of course, I'd probably still send out individual letters, too...I like sending postcards and stuff. Hope you know, one you give me your address, you'll be gettin junk mail!!!
Oh, BTW, I'm probably (Hopefully...*fingers crossed*) gonna be movin soon, so I may have to give you a different address once that happens....no big deal, though, I hope.

I like the idea of the notebook thingy. If we wanted to each have our own we could each make one and send out. So that we would all have one.
I emailed you like you pm'd and asked pixie.. but I am not sure if you received it.

I think what you're all setting up is called a "round robin." Someone starts the letter (or whatever) and passes it to No. 2, who adds to the original and passes it all on to No. 3, etc.; until it finally returns to the originator. I guess it could go on indefinitely, or begin again with No. 1. Sounds like fun, best wishes for a fun time!

I know I'm a little late, but if you have room for one more, I'm game. It sounds sort of like the "slam" books we used to pass around in Junior High (but less frivolous!).

hello - sorry about being late but I would LOVE to join. I am constantly sending letters and postcards it would be great to get one back! PLEASE COUNT ME IN!
I think both ideas are great! The book to be pasted around is a wonderful idea!Maybe we could put our addresses in it so that we could also mail each other individual letters too.

I think Melissa's idea is a good one...we should all get our own notebooks and mail them out....only requirement being you can't mail it back to the same person you got it from. Or maybe it has to go all the way around the group before you get it back. Either way, with a bunch of notebooks going around, I don't think anyone will get left out!
I am really starting to love this more and more and we haven't even started yet!! :D

I'm with Moondreamer when can we start? I am soooo excited!!!! I think having multiple notebooks going around would be so much fun! Then we each have one! I am an art teacher and I just can't wait to decorate mine...and maybe yours ( just one page I promise!)
Do we need a size or weight limit on these? I just can't wait! This will be so much fun!

Hi, just looked in on these posts. I notice everyone seems to be in the US except the originator, who's in Australia. Mailing a booklet to her may be expensive ($5 minimum)--make sure to check before hand what things will cost, in case you want to do letters or stay with actual booklets.
Those global priority envelopes that are 7x9" can hold up to 8 pounds if you can squeeze it into them, for $5. Otherwise the price jumps to $9 for the next size envelope.
Here's the US postal calculator to check things--

Well, since it was her idea, I guess we can pay a little extra for her creative inspiration!!! :P
But for our own sakes maybe there should be a weight limit....

that's sweet :) okay we can start whenever no if you want too. I'll just have to go out and get a notebook.... just remember they don't have to be huge as i know it can be hard to pay for postage.
i just need to clear somethings up kay i'm a little confused :p
Are we sending them around to the group or just one person?
(i'm all for a group thing!!)
anything to do with tarot (such as readings meanings of cards/favourite decks/tarot stories?etc)
are we going to have an index thingy at the front of the books with all our names and address and the order the journals to be sent to.
should there be a time limit each person has for the journal say a week?
okay

I like the index idea...but witha twist....I think to make it interesting, no journal should be sent in the same order as anyone else's...unless that would get complicated. (I seem to like complicating things:D)
There are seven of us now, right?

and me....MoonDreamer

A week limit is good....
And yeah...all thing tarot are acceptable (and some things not tarot are alright, ie divination, dream interpretations...stickers, artwork, pictures:D (for my notebook anyway!))
I only have Peace_pixie's address, so I need the rest of yours.....
you can pm them to me if you want or e-mail....mel_rush@sbcglobal.net
I'm gonna buy my notebook/journal tomorrow and get it ready to go!!

How bout like this....
We all get assigned a number 1-7 (after we get the lists written down, we can lose the numbers)
1. peace_pixie
2. dolphingirl
3. Melissa'
4. September_Pixie
5. Hyatt
6. Sillanza
7. Moondreamer
and then your list looks like this......your list being the one that starts with your number.
1 6 5 4 3 2 7
2 4 6 1 5 7 3
3 5 7 2 1 6 4
4 7 1 6 2 3 5
5 2 3 7 6 4 1
6 3 4 5 7 1 2
7 1 2 3 4 5 6
Ya'll can switch numbers if you want, but that means you have to switch lists too to keep it from getting too confusing.
So whadya think? Sound do-able?

I am soooo excited I just went and got my little book today. i made sure it was small. i am so excited!
I have one sight PROBLEM I am moving to Florida in about 2 weeks and I do not have my new address just yet. I should have it soon. I can still get a journal mailed to me if they are mailed soon. But I might need to send out an email when I get my new address. What crummy timing!
Oh, I think it might be cool ( I think someone mentioned this) if we put a question in the book for the first person who gets the book. I guess it would need to be one that doesn't need to be answered immediatly. But it would be fun to start with a reading that was just for you in your book!
Anyway, thanks for hearing my thoughts and I will take any advice anyone wants to give on the moving situation!

Well, It's your book, so I would think it can have any theme you want. I doubt we all have the same mind set about certain things, so they probably would end up being quite different anyway! I'm gonna decorate my book with pretty tarot pictures (maybe) or stickers or something. Depends on my mood when I work on it.
I do really like the idea of asking a question for everyone else to do a reading for in the beginning just to get the ball rolling.

I worked on my book this weekend. A little decorating here and there and I am pleased. I am ready to send her off on her journey! I started a tarot story in the back of mine and have the question in the front. This will be so exciting!
I think that Melissa sends me her book first, I was wondering since I am moving if she could go ahead and send it to make sure I get it in time. I think I will PM her too. Sorry to rush things I just want to make sure I get the first entry in time. But then again if we do not have everyone's addresses I don't want to mess up the order either if it has to be changed.

I didn't buy a new notebook. Instead I decided to use this fat little pink one that I already had but haven't used for anything yet. I was saving it for something special, but didn't know what for until now. There is already an illustration of the tarot cabinet I ahve been working on in the first couple of pages, but since it has to do with tarot, I'm leaving it where it is.

Hello pen pals!
Got the PM that dolphin girl is out. Ok, so that changes the order. It does not affect how excited I am about this fun little project. Brian and I have narrowed our options down to 2 places. so there is a new list...........
1 6 5 4 3 2

3 5 1 6 2 4
4 1 2 3 6 5
5 2 3 1 4 6
6 3 4 2 5 1
That ok with everyone? (I made sure Melissa` would still be sending to you, Hyatt, so it would be alright that she sent you hers already, but I don't think that you are mailing to the same person first on your list...hope that's ok)

Hi all,
I have been enjoying your posts on this. It sounds very much like an Altered Book Round Robin. I have a couple of books on decorating altered books (I have to use my art supplies somehow hyatt!), but because of the expense of mailing from Canada I never joined an actual round robin with a book or journal.
I did join a swap once for a Tip In. "Tip in" is an old bookbinders term for gluing in a single sheet into a book. The one I was involved in had a Spring theme and colours and you made 4 decorated pages about 5.5 x 8.5 inches, and got 4 in return. I used Canson Mi-Teintes paper in soft blue and peach and added paints, collage and some printed things from the computer which I had first sprayed with Krylon fixative. Other people did stamping, 3D objects, glazing etc. and it was so interesting to compare everyone's style.
Neat idea, glad you're having a good time. I liked the idea of putting a question in the front of the journal and some stories in the back. I have a couple of journals I use for tarot--particularly the small hardcover journal that came with the Hallowquest deck.
Is anyone able to post scans of your work, I'd love to see the group's efforts? Good on you for actually doing this.

I understand being impatient....I am too. Oh, it is a restless bad qualtity:)
I am waiting on my second journal. I think in the beginning we had talked about having a week with each journal. Is that too short of a time? I think that it would be good if we got on some sort of loose schedule. It's been over a month since I have had one. I do understand people that have very busy lives and sometimes you need to add just the right touch of something. What do you guys think?

I am glad it arrived safe and sound to you hyatt :D Mine is either in or in route to Florida too! :D
I am really pleased you enjoyed the artwork, I hope MoonDreameR will be happy with it :)
Aren't you kinda sad that we wont get the chance to peek at everyone's finished journals? :) I am still willing to scan mine once I get it back, if no one minds? :)

You weren't planning on sending them back around for another round? I kinda thought we would keep it up intil we were all tired of it!! That way, we could see how everyone responded to our posts in others' journals and have a chance to comment on it or whatever. Am I the only one that thought we were in this for awhile?

I dont see why not, danubhe. Just PM your address to me i guess and I'll get it out to everyone. I'm afraid I'll have to revamp the mailing order list though...give me a day or 2 ok?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm new to this & want to do this right when my time comes: What sorts of things do people put into each other's journals?? Is it all writing, or images, both, etc.? I'm just wondering what they look like! I only just bought a journal on EBay & it's lined, which I *don't* like but I will use it to write in, I guess!

You can put whatever you like in my journal, danubhe!! I like pictures and poems and drawings and stickers and new interpretation ides....whatever you can come up with as long as its related to tarot.
As for sending Silanza'a journal to peace_pixie, maybe we should try and e-mail her and see if she's up to doing another right away, and if not, send it to the person after her, i guess.
**Can't wait to get my hands on another journal**

hello guys!
As for danubhe, I have been doing a little artwork in the journals, some writing about meanings, etc. In my personal journal I started a story with a card and I CAN'T wait to see how it ends when I get it back! I put a recipe in the last journal I had. Just what ever you want and what ever inspires you at the time.
I just sent Moondreamer's journal to Melissa a day or so ago, I sent it 2 day because it's wasn't much more to do so, I bet you will get it by Monday.
I was wondering where my journal was on it's path? Who has it? Just wondering.........

The e-bay bid fell through - I'll have to pay for one at Amazon, they have some nice unlined ones, although the e-bay one was Tarot-themed & that's what I wanted - eek, better get one soon!!

I would like to double-check to make sure that it's ok to put in illustrations like tipped-in plates with archival glue, or would that be on an individual basis? I have a lot of art to share - I have a cyber-deck crying out to be viewed that is partially finished. I am hoping to paint the images. I want opinions on my art thus far; I also am working on a *genuinely* Celtic-themed deck which is soft colored-pencil drawings of Celtic relics. I hope that people like them! :D

i'm sure that is fine. I have just taped some illustrations in the journals and decorated around them.

This is awesome! I'd love to be in this too.... but I'm in Australia. I'm not sure about US postal charging, but I know that from here to there, if a package is under 2 cm in height it can be posted as a large letter, rather than a parcel, which makes a huge difference in cost.
I'm not sure where you currently are in your latest "round", but I wouldn't mind joining in at some stage, when it's a good time :)

Hello, all. I'm finally back on the journal track. I wrote in September_pixie's journal a while ago now. Since then, there's been horrific flu, a small flood, visiting in-laws, and a rough start to the fall school year!
In summary, September_pixie's journal is (finally) on it's way to peace_pixie.

To peace_pixie and Moondreamer :D
I think this sounds like a realy great idea, too. But why make it difficult. Just make a list that can be accesseble at net:
1. Everyone gets a number, ofcourse in the order.
Just like the list thats already have been started.
2. You start to send your booklet to the next on the list and when the last one on the existing list gets a booklet, they send it to the first one on the list. In this way anyone can sign on at any time :D
An the mailing lists would be:
123456789
234567891
345678912
456789123
567891234
678912345
789123456
891234567
912345678 ......and the new ones just adding the names on the
list that gets longer and longer, and if you wanna get of the list, you just delete your name of the list and sends all the booklets you have and you wont get any more booklets.
HOW does this sound?
The only question i have is: Where shall the "Tarot pens list" be on the net???

Ops...the answer to the last question is ofcourse
in the post from moondreamer at page 3 in this tread.
(If not, who is to be responsable for that list???)
Se that page and there you have the list :D

I have an update, too. I just sent September_Pixie's journal off to Melissa' today. But I forgot to take my ID to the Post Ofiice :| and they wouldn't take a check or my check card without it, and I only had a little cash, so it is coming via (the much cheaper) media mail way. It'll probably take a week to get there. Hope it's not a big deal.

I was curious if anyone knows what happened with this? I never received my journal back and I have no clue who even has it. I did have to journals, Moondreamer and Sept. Pixie, both of which I sent back to them back in Nov/Dec. Hopefully someone will see this and know whats up. :)
