Now call me crazy, but my favorite card is the Ten of Swords. I know it's supposed to mean absolute ruin, but it seems every time it somes up with a reading, it turns out to be a positive card that begins to bring good things to whomever I'm reading for. I guess it makes since, because if you've hit absolute ruin, things can only get better. I was wondering what are your favorite cards, and are any of them something unusual because you wouldn't think of it as a favorite card?

My favorite suit is the Swords, darker the better.

The only slightly unusual card that I welcome (in any reading) is the 7 of Pentacles. It often means that something is getting done, or needs to get done: someone is coming to a decision, is studying up, is taking stock, etc. Sometimes I think of it as the "multitasker" card!

I like the "Pentacles' suit, and for some reason, I seem to get them all the time.
I like the 5 of pentacles -- :T5P when it turns up (which is not often recently), because it reminds me to save for a rainy day, or otherwise think of ways to improve my financial affairs, since they fluctuate sharply .

I've always had a fondness for the 9 of Swords. I realize that it's supposed to be a "nightmare" card, but I see it as a darkness before the dawn. I also love the quilt from the RWS deck. :)

I just adore the 8 of Swords in the Robin Wood deck. Most people I use the deck with don't like the card, but something about it really appeals to me. I've only begun using this deck recently (used to only read with Mythic Deck), so I'm not sure how this card will come through in readings, but I'm certainly drawn to it. There is something strangely beautiful about the card - I just love the image.
I also love the 8 of Cups in the Mythic Deck. I see this as leaving the known behind and moving towards the unknown, which, although this can be painful, always makes me feel a little excited as well.

Maybe the reason why the 10 of Swords is so possitive to you is because it is like a mini Death card, and as you say, everything will change and can get better. I also remember someone saying it was a bit of a martyr card so maybe things are not quite as bad as they seem.
The Devil in the Rohrig is my fave; just because of its darkness and the way in which his eyes engage me; look into me. Its such a strong connection. Some querants find the Devil a scary card, but for me, it is nicely dark, sensual, sexy and almost human (aside from those eyebrows LOL).

I have a real love of the Tower card, because to me it represents that destruction of false foundations and beliefs that aren't working, in order to leave a clean slate to build on. It's what Philosophy does, essentially- and I am studying Philosophy at Uni.
The Devil I also sometimes like seeing in a reading, because every now and then it just screams at me "Great sex! Great sex is the meaning of this card!" })

my favorite card is the high preistess reversed. its just such an erotic card, i cant help but be compelled, and excited by it.
i know, that whenever it appears, something raunchy is going to happen! maybe this doesent say much for my class, or respectability, but i beleive in honesty, even when it kinda makes me look bad.(unless it could hurt others)

The Tower, in any deck. To me, it oft appears as a lighthouse, a shining beacon in the dark. I like lighthouses.
In fact, I plan to design one to look as I see it--for the next Aeclectic deck since I missed it for the deck in progress.

Oh, the 8 of Swords is one of my favorite cards in that deck. I love it, although I'm not sure why. It doesn't have a pleasant meaning, but it's a beautiful card.

I am pretty fond of the 3 of swords, the 7 of swords and the 9 of swords (in the RWS)
The 7 seems so sneaky..but I always see it as permission to leave a situation through the back door, if only to avoid a huge nasty confrontation...
and the 9 is so protective...if only she will see that the blanket...and the universe ...has her covered she wouldn't have to worry so much!
and the 3...well...one more good cry and everything will start to heal? I am so good with that!

4 of swords is one of my favorites.
Take a break. Time out. Stop and smell the petunias.
While sometimes it can mean other stuff too, I like the peacefulness - even if it is sometimes in a crypt. :P
I also am a fan of the Tower - I like life/emotions/things to be shaken up once in awhile, even if the immediate results are really scary and even horrible, I find a good upheavel often leads to positive long-term effects.

Kiama, I will NEVER look at the Devil card the same way again. I am sitting here sipping my morning coffee and boom! Kiama really wakes me up!!!!
Thanks Kiama, that laugh just brought me to the sink to dump the coffee....I'm awake now hoping for the Devil to show up...I might just do readings all day!

Hello,
I have to say that my favorite card, well...actually it's one of many favorites. :)
Anyway, I really like the Thoth Universe card. Not just when it comes up in a reading, but the artwork is beautiful to me. All the blues and greens. It is just a beautiful card. It means to me that the whole universe is opening or has opened up. I just like this card.

I have a special place in my heart for both the Tower and the 4 of Pentacles. I think they these 2 are generally not well thought of by most people, and misunderstood, so they are the "underdogs" of the tarot, for me! :)

I like the Moon card in most decks, they often have beautiful art work. And some decks also have such a lovely Death card.

I do like the Priestess and the Hermit in the Rohrig Tarot. The whole deck is full of mind stretching images. The Priestess seems to pierce the soul.--Tao

Cards that seem to draw me in decks are
Hermit- I just love the imagery for this card
9 of swords - I love the drama in this one
10 of swords - another high drama card
The darker cards in a deck are often what makes a deck readable or not readable for me. Happy cards are almost all easy to realate to, it is the darker cards that make the big differences to me.
