Xena & Tarot

It's late and I'm headed to bed soon. Just got the DVD set for Xena:Warrior Princess season 3. Has anyone seen the musical episode "The Bitter Suite"? There is SO much tarot imagery in that episode. As per the cast and crew commentary, the producer had just read a book about tarot imagery and wanted to incorporate it into the episode. It was well done; respectfully handled. I can't believe I haven't seen this episode before. Woof

Woof-- I accidently caught that episode-- the only one I've ever seen :laugh: Yes, it was amazingly well done. I don't know exactly where, but I came across a Xena Tarot deck on the web. I'll have to figure that one out for you. fly well Raven

Just some more specifics. The tarot imagery begins about 1/4 ways into the episode when Xena and Gabrielle fall off a cliff into the ocean and seem to have the same hallucination. They're in some Technicolor weird place and the first Xena meets is Calisto who is dressed like the Fool. Including the little dog at her heels. Xena is seated in a throne just like, and dressed just like, the High Priestess including pomegranates in the backdrop and crescent moon on her headpiece. At one point we meet up with Joxer who is hanging from his foot from a tree with his other leg bent as in the Hanged Man. Aries is seen on a Chariot (with Xena) pulled by two sphinxes. There are several scenes with the Wheel of Fortune turning, particularly when there is a major change of scene. Xena is dressed at one point as the Queen of Swords. Justice shows up (forgot where I was tired when I watched it). And, I didn't even catch this: they explained this in the commentary, Gabrielle and Xena are singing in an old half ruined building that has its top blown off; that is the Tower. Rent this one if you can. Woof
