I started to read with the RWS. I have studied numbers, colors and a bit of astrology and so on. I always go back to this deck when I try to study others. Maybe this is just stubborness or I'm not ready to move on!
What's your comfort zone?
One deck or
are you able to read with many different decks?

well, I currently read from the Gothic Tarot. I've used Robin Wood in the past too.... One thing I'm hoping to do is start a journal in which I draw a card, and also lay the corresponding RWS next to it... I"m hoping this will provide me with even more insight to other decks...
for me, my tastes change from time to time......

Ros: The first deck read with or the deck that resonates most has a special place in the reading process.
Mine is the RWS, followed by a number of significant others that are also reliable. Robin Wood, The Chinese, Ancient Egyptian, Cosmic Tribe, Hanson Roberts. Several others I do not use as much but as they occur to me. Also experimenting with different decks, some of which I use more for meditative purposes than for readings.
If the one deck works, then stay with it until the call to use another or others calls more strongly. I read with playing cards for many years before picking up Tarot. I used it first for knowledge rather than for divination but found out "accidentally" it works superbly for readings. Stayed with the RWS for years before looking at other decks.
I have found the deck itself does not matter as much as being able to read the cards themselves by the energy pattern represented--whether by the images, the numbers &/or the colours.
I see no need to fix what is not broken. Better to read well with one deck than to read partially with many. In the meantime, does not hurt to explore or study other decks.

I feel like I have a flow with my readings with the RWS.
I have other decks but... you know how it goes.
"Better to read well with one deck than partially with many."
Thanks MeeWah!

Definitely agree with Meewah. I come back to old decks a lot for reassurance and study. The Rohrig often returns as it has lately.
I considered pulling out the RWS this evening for help with a reading but this time, I wanted to go it alone with the 1JJ Swiss, since I have been getting on with that one pretty well lately and most of my readings have been very clear and have flowed together well. I am very sure that I will confide in that and other decks again, when as Meewah says, you get that calling.
Best wishes

Just after I got my RWS (it was not my first deck), I divided them into three groups.....cards that immediately gave me good vibes, cards that gave me bad vibes, and neutral or undecided. I recorded them in my journal that I was using at the time, which is long since full, but I keep it just for that 'list'.
Now, whenever I get a new deck, I do the same thing with it and compare the groups of cards with the RWS.
Its not that this deck is particularly my favorite or even the one that speaks to me the best (that would be my Fey Tarot deck), but it is always there in the back of my mind that this is the deck that most other decks are based from and the symbolism is, for the most part, anyway, easy to understand.
Maybe when I get to the point where I trust my intuition a little more, I can let go of this habit, but for now, it seems that even though I dont go back to read with it, I will go back to study with it and keep learning from it.
