Taking delivery of a new deck

I've read posts on and off about people's excitement at receiving a new deck in the post... and I could imagine how it felt, but seeing as I bought my one and only RW off the shelf, I didn't know how it felt.

Today I was sitting here reading this forum and wondering why my Sharman-Caselli (and book) was taking so long. I ordered it weeks ago!

Then I considered its journey by Air Mail and all the paths it would take and the number of hands it would pass through - and finally into the hands of my postman.

I was just thinking this - when I heard the postman open the gate and I knew he was bearing gifts of the Tarot kind!

I'm 37 years old and I feel like a kid with a new toy! :D

So now I can smile *knowingly* (as perhaps you are) each time I read one of these posts...

*Knowlingly smiles as well*

Yes, I know the feeling. I always feel like a kid waiting at the window for the postman on his birthday; the disappointment when he walks past the house, the excitement as you hear the clonk as the package falls through the letterbox and onto the matt - the disappointment again, when it is just a boring package from the bank or soemthing, telling you there's no funds left in your account and to stop spending lol.

But when it does get here, all those disappointments fly out of the window as you tear it open. 'Oh, its better than I ever thought it would be in the flesh', 'oh, i love it' - as you spread them out over the table, wanting to try and be adult about it and make a coffee and resist the urge to just jump in and look at it. Coffee can wait, 'let me at it'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hee hee, Yaboot. How true. Were you there?

When I order decks, either from Amazon or Alidastore, I like to try and plan for the day when the package gets delivered. Its easy with Amazon, from when its posted it will take two or three days to get to me but Alida is a little more difficult - my last delivery from them took nearly 10 days.

I'm lucky in that I work from home but I'm afraid all work goes out of the window on the day that the package does come :D - I've only ever missed a package the once and had to arrange for the delivery van to come again.

Well, I swore I'd never learn Tarot.
Then when I became addicted to Tarot I swore I'd never collect decks.
My lesson must be never swear to never do something associated with Tarot again, because it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy!

I'm waiting for:
my first eBay purchase, due next Friday, Wheel of Change Tarot
Llewellyn sale World Spirit Tarot

and then soon but not yet-
The Fey Tarot
Songs for the Journey Home, from Jewel here on Aeclectic, hoping to send her a check tomorrow!

And now of course I'm wondering if I need a Marseilles deck to see what all the fuss is about. But that is off in the distance and in no hurry to purchase that deck, not at all.

But, boy am I excited to see these decks rolling in.....I can't wait.

Oooh, Sharman-Caselli -- that's one of my favourite decks. I got it a couple of years ago. It was my second deck, and I still love it! Let us know what you think of it!

Thanks for your comments everyone!

I'm getting to like it more and more. It's very light and easy to shuffle - I shuffle a lot quicker with this deck (instead of my usual original RW).

The simple and symmetrical imagery also appeals to me - and more obvious symbolism. As a beginner, this really helps.

At first glance, there were a couple of cards I didn't like so much as the RW, such as The Lovers, 2 Cups and 6 Cups. Also each time I look at The Chariot it makes me laugh... I just can't take that card seriously!

But I like the "softer" 3 Swords, with the doves symbolizing healing and release.

Overall very good. I like it - and the book is very readable. It's effective simplicity goes well with the deck.

I have done readings to see when I would receive a deck. I love tracking numbers. I check several times a day. I fully understand the anticipation.--Tao
