YANG
Fire likes Air (but not Water)
Air Likes Fire (but not Earth)
YIN
Water likes Earth (but not Fire)
Earth likes Water (but not Air)
So ~ Earth can be a bridge between Water and Fire
or Fire can be a bond connecting Air and Earth, etc.

I like the way you put that Fulgour!
Who will play nice together...fire just won't play with water...he doesn't like to get extinguished!

I remember those thus:
Air fans Fire's flames but water puts them out.
Water nourishes the Earth but destroys Fire.
From there the rest sort of follow.

How about...
"In ancient times, considerable note was made of understanding the elements,
for these were considered the building bricks of the Universe, and hence many
believed that these were also part of the basic structure of themselves...."
EARTH
AIR
WATER
FIRE

I found that writing things out, making symbolic drawings, and just
thinking about the long history and many beliefs, helped me see that
for a very long time people have given this subject careful attention.
...and, it's fun!
