Hi! Oddly, I just opened the site I'm about to link here a couple of seconds ago! I get almost all of my bags from http://tarottotes.com/
They're inexpensive, well-made, a HUGE selection and if I order a bag and a deck at the same time, I invariably get the bag first.

If you want to make your own, I have a link to a good pattern. Here it is... it might take a minute for the instructions to load, because they're part of an image file. It makes a nice lined bag with no raw edges showing. :)

Hi Oni
I just bought a lovely hand made tarot bag last weekend (pretty white and green ivy leaf design with unusual beads on the drawstring which is perfect for my Sacred Circle deck). I got this from Rabble and Ferrous (members here at AT) who hand make them - here is a link to their web site http://shop.wiccked.com/archives/tarot_bags/index.php
Good luck in your tarot bag hunting.

cjtarot makes the awesomest velvet bags!!! I've traded with her several times, and I've never been disappointed. She also makes a foldout spreadcloth with a pocket for your deck and another for crystals/accessories. Her website is:
http://www.geocities.com/magickcottage/
There's also a section here on Aeclectic with some links.
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/links/tarotaccessories.shtml
Out of those listed, I've personally bought from Tarot Totes and Rosefairy. I can recommend both highly. But CJ is definitely my favorite.
If you're feeling crafty, it's actually fairly easy to make one yourself as well.
Good luck finding something you like!

thanks for the info! i will look at those sites and also the pattern for making one myself. is velvet hard to work with?
i wanted a bag made from cjtarot awhile ago, but like she started to make it and then stopped and said she would not make any bags for me, i truly dont know why though, and it kinda left me at a loss, cause she did not really give a reason. but yes her bags look gourgous! i pm her again asking for a bag but alas she has not responded.
like i go on a hunt and let u know how it goes!

Velvet is a little hard to work with, compared to say cotton, but I find if I pin it well and pay attention, it doesn't give me any trouble. :)

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the compliments.
Oni,

I'm sorry I didn't get your latest pm...I thought I told you the strange things that went on when I started your bag for the trade. The first one, the machine wouldnt sew right..was skipping stiches (but didn't do it the day before)..THEN when I went to re-emboss the 2nd bag, the velvet burned..I MEAN BURNED..it was the weirdest thing. I remember telling you this, I would never just back out without an explination..I'm sorry if you felt cheated..but it just got to weird for me..so I figured it Just wasn't ment to be.
Right now my machine is on it's way to be serviced again (needs a tune up)..which stinks cause I have 4 bags alread cut and started..
I'll recheck my pms and should have the machine back by next friday..Its not that I won't make the bag..it's just it wouldn't happen then, I'm always willing to try again..
Blessings,
CJ

laura_borealis,
Shoot, I wanted to respond to this too..
"Velvet is a little hard to work with, compared to say cotton, but I find if I pin it well and pay attention, it doesn't give me any trouble. "
When you work with velvet, put it right side together, and flatten it as much as possible (it will kinda stick together)..then use Scotch tape (the clear stuff) to hold it together. Pins leave marks (I learned the heard way) so I learned to use tape in place of them.
When I get my machine back, I'm gonna try using velvet and cotton together..I'm hoping the tape trick works on cotton too...
Blessings,
CJ

YES, pins on velvet, as long as you pin in the seam allowance only, and then baste. Or steam over a needle board afterwards if you do get pin marks. I'm less keen on tape. It sometimes leaves behind a residue.

What about keeping the seams together with WonderWeb, that gauze like material that becomes sticky when ironed.
You could stick the seams together with it before you sew it and it will have double to strength.
I've just been on that website, Tarot Totes and can't believe how cheaper decks are in America to how much they cost here. I've not seen a deck yet in around here that costs less than £20.
