There has been some similar threads in the chat section, asking which famous person people would have as their dinner guest etc.
But was wondering ...
If you had the opportunity to sit down, face to face, and read the cards for any famous person, who would it be ... and which card would you choose as a significator???????

Well, I echo myself and say George Balanchine's (NYCB master choreographer).
Balanchine's card would have to be the Hierophant. I would say the Emperor, because of the control he exercised all his life in his art. But more than this, his life's goal was to impart his style, his particular dance knowledge, to the world. And, others came to study beneath his tutelage.
That makes him the Hierophant to me.

Jim Morrison... I'm not exactly sure what I would use to represent him.. possibly the Magician or the Emperor.. I'd just like to know more about him. :D

I'd love to read for Charlton Heston... in movies, he has saved humanity (in different ways) more than anyone else :) and his significator card either the Chariot or The Hanged Man.
What about you Yaboot001?

I would want to read the cards for Aleister Crowley
and I would use the devil as the significator.
It would be a very interesting session.

The people I would choose wouldn't need the reading and they'd end up reading for me! I immediately thought-
Ghandi, then said, no he'd just end up reading for me.
Then thought, Sojourner Truth, and thought no, she'd have no need of a reading, she knows everything will work out for her no matter what.
Then thought, Dalai Lama, but again, he'd sit there with his twinkly eyes and end up telling me why the cards were saying what they were saying and just end up reading for me again.
Hmmm, So if push came to shove I'd settle on reading for Clive Barker the author, because I really like his fantasy work, not so much his horror stuff. As his Significator I'd choose the Hermit, because while his work sets him apart from most "regular" folk, his writing is like a beacon, shining out in the darkness and asking us to look at life from a new angle, thru a different lens.
Now what will happen is this, I'm gonna go off now and do whatever I'm gonna do, and I'll come back to this and think, "Why didn't I choose____blank____????" I never really like questions like this, but can't resist them either....

Oh oh, Stephen King... using the Devil as his significator, he seems to be linked to an eerie kind of witting... I haven't been thrilled with many of his new books, and for my benefit I'd like to know why lol, but my childhood favorite author was RL Stine, so perhaps him too!

Anne Rice. She gives me goosebumps.
And I think she would be Death.
Over and over again she graphically tells of mortal death and re-birth as a vampire.
I'd love to gaze at her face and see the expressions on her face as I read her cards. Perhaps it could even be inspiration for a part in a new book....( though sadly, no new vampires...she has declared an end to the Vampire Chronicles and the stories of Lestat)

Lessee...Britney Spears, because I hate her so much. Reading for her might make me like her a little more. When I read for people, it makes me connect with them in some preternatural way, and somehow I begin to see that person's perspective. So yeah, Britney Spears.
The significator I'd use for her would be the Princess/Knave of Wands...The reason is fairly obvious. :P

Yes, Kittaine! You could tell her that the cards were most definitely advising her to 'get the hell out of showbusiness!', lol.

Pamela Colman Smith who was also known by the nickname "Pixie". The Star as significator (though I do not use significator cards). She strikes me as a gentle soul & a kindred spirit.
She seems to have lived for her art & writing despite realizing little material success through those endeavours. Whilst she is known primarily for her design of Arthur Edward Waite's deck, it appears she received no recognition in her lifetime for her efforts.

Hahaha!!!
I'd also love to do a reading for Jacko, just cos I wanna get into his head and figure out how things work in there. Maybe he's just misunderstood, you know? :P Hahaha! As for the significator...hm...I dunno...The Fool?

Oy - am I a geek or what? I'd LOVE to read for Hamid Karzai (current Prez of Afghanistan). Poor guy needs all the help he can get because he's starting to make some serious mistakes. (It is both complicated and silly as to why I am SO into Afghan politics.) I think I'd have his significator be the Knight of Batons. A wee bit impulsive, but with a lot of potential.
:D I am a geek.

I'd read for George W Bush. His significater would be the Fool.
Or maybe the Chariot.
I've got it now---The Chariot being driven by the Fool. :D

Johnny Cash, but alas he is dead... :( I'd love to do one for his spiritual life, because he was a very intensely spiritual man.
I'd also like to do a reading for Neitzsche. It would be one mucked up reading and it would be an awesome challenge!

Thinking hard here . . . :)
I think I would like to read for Bette Midler as she seems such an interesting personality and actress. I would probably choose the King of Wands for significator, I first thought the Queen of Wands, but she is more a King - more out there! :D

I'd choose the Dalai Lama although he probably wouldn't need a reading :)
I'd choose The Hierophant as his significator.

In the Ananda tarot, Jim Morrison is the knight of wands :)
Since this is all fantasy, I choose Rory Gallager (www.rorygallagher.com), Irish rock and blues singer/player and still very popular over there.
He had great stage charisma but was off stage very shy, and as his success increased he got more and more nervous which made him take too many tranquilizers, which slowly undermined his health and led to an early death.
I think he is the knight of cups. And the magician when he was on stage, he had such presence.
I would like to read the cards for him to find a better way to handle his anxieties, so he could stop taking those dangerous pills :(

It would have to be Jonny Depp, just so I could sit across from him. I would probably be too distracted to actually read...what a hottie. And for the card well, I guess I would choose the Knight of swords.

Just as long as you could get out afterwards; that's one place I wouldn't want to get trapped, hehe.

Terry Gilliam. I love his films. I think he'd have to be the Bateleur, conjuring up fantastic worlds to amaze and awe his audience.

Great thread! Not that I ever use significators, but I'll give it a shot.
Like September_pixie, I'd like to read for Stephen King, but I'd choose the Moon as his significator. It's his writing that's kept him from going totally mad. He's an interesting personality, to be sure -- and a Red Sox fan. :)
Then Tim Burton. He's a 6 of Cups guy to me. The reading itself would be sort of useless, because he'd just end up making a movie about it. And it would be brilliant. And star Johnny Depp in an oddly disturbing role.
Then Robin Williams. I'd choose the Wheel of Fortune for him, because I don't think his brain ever stops spinning. I think he'd be very open to the process, and would likely improv many scenarios for each card turned, and then discuss their political significance. After day two of trying to complete our 7-card reading, I'd probably have to make a second appointment.
If we're reading for dead people, I'd have to start a waiting list (where are they going?): Alfred Hitchcock, Bob Fosse, JFK, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe ...
