Spicing up my tarot journal - HELP!

Hey folks!!

I've always had a tarot journal, at the moment i LOVE my present stripy note book and have written quite alot in it with daily spreads, learning exercises etc, but now i've finished my last tarot course, its just full of daily readings which, well, seem so VERY BORING! This journal is a spiral bound book, and i have a file to keep print outs and that sort of stuff in.
How do you spice up your book and your taroting. Daily readings seem really boring to me at the moment. I'm not talking creative as in pretty pictures etc because its already got those in (though i'm not all that keen on being wildly creative).
I'm stuck in a journal rutt repeating the same things over and over, any help? Are you in a rutt? Does your journal reflect your boring life at the moment - i'm home from school for the summer and my book is bland like my lazy life is at the moment.
Any ideas folks?

Sezo

I keep my readings in a separate journal, because they can get boring after a while.

Here is a great site that I love for journaling ideas. Tarot Studies is a great place for cool ideas on journaling.

Hope this helps.

I use a 3-ring notebook which has a clear covering that permits printed material to be slipped in. I have a splash of colorful cards across the top, the keywords for major and minor arcana cards, a diagram showing suite-to-suite relations (Swords & Wands equals conflict, Swords & Pentacles equals difficulty, etc.) and the Five-D's of Reversals as a prompt. I can glance quickly at my journal if needed.

On the back cover I have a host of spreads; 3-card spreads with different meanings, and other helpful category spreads. In this way my journal is a helpful tool even when closed. Dave.

Hey everyone

Have the same kind of problems Sezo.

Mimers, I tried the link but nothing came up. Is it just me or has anybody had the same problem? Would be interested in reading it.

Thanks

Yaboot, the link has http:// twice, just delete one of them and the link works fine :)
The site is interesting - thanks Mimers though, i have done the page for a card thing before, i could give it a try.

Just having a read of some websites (dont ask me which ones lol) and came across an idea of writing a letter to a card saying hi, i wanna find out what you are about.. and then sort of automatic writing a response to give some insight into that card.

Well, do you ever see pictures in magazines and newspapers that remind you of certain cards? Start clipping them out and pasting them to your journal. You don't have to be a collage artist to enjoy this.

Also, add color to the pages according to the cards and your feelings about the cards. Doodle on the pages, inspired by the cards. That will make your journal more colorful and interesting, and differentiate one page from another.

All these things came naturally to me, because I'm visual by nature, but I think anyone who reads cards has a connection between the visual and the intuitive.

Another thing that I'm doing, for each of the Court cards, is finding a person I know who embodies that card. For example, I used to work for the Queen of Swords, complete with her high ideals and impossible standards. So, I've been writing about these people and their traits, as well as my feelings about them.

The five D's of reversals? I have never heard of this before...What are the five D'S Dave?

Yes, what are the 5 D's? (head cocked) Reversals I have a good handle on, but I haven't heard this before!

Spice up your journal?

Write an essay about a different card every day. Finish with one deck - use another. and you cannot write the same thing about the same cards...as in, "I already wrote that about the magician!"

Try different things!

We always look closer...so now...start moving away.

notice anything about that magician if you move him about 4 Meters away?

You should you know...

I do my own version of comparative tarot. I take several versions of the card I wish to study and xerox them onto a sheet of paper. (color copies cost about $1 US per sheet). Then I can write, circle symbols and hi-light items to review later.

I, also, preserve readings this way, to study later. It helps to keep my thoughts together and I don't have to constantly find the cards in the deck.

The color copies are clear and the color reproduction is great!

And to brighten up my bulletin board, I bought a set of B.O.T.A. Glow-in-the-Dark cards. They border the top of the board and look neat when the lights are turned off!!
