I just got the spiral deck from someone and the heavy film on it makes it hard to shuffle and the cards stick. Is there anything I can do to keep the cards from sticking?
This is a great deck and I would like to be able to use any suggestions would be greatly appericated.
Thank you
Julie

I just started a similar thread and was told that fanning powder you can get from a magic shop would help. I'm going to get some. You might want to try it, too.

Fanning Powder?!?!? who would have thunk it? I was going to try cornstarch on some decks that have gotten sticky with use, I haven't gotten to it yet, but it might be something to try.

Sassy - my Spiral deck was sticky when I got it too. While I've never invested in fanning powder, I beat up my cards - subjected them to Umbrae's "stressing" treatment. (If you're not familiar with this, the gist is that you slide a card sharply off the edge of a table to put a bend in it - and you do this in all directions and on both sides, for each card). This took a few hours all told (I was doing it between calls at work ;) ), and the deck got very thick and fluffy until I did a bunch of poker-shuffles with it.
I'm not really interested in reading with a deck that looks brand-new. I've owned my Spiral for two months, and it's been shuffled and handled enough that it looks more like two years. And now it shuffles like a dream. The cards are still in very good shape - US Games stock is quite sturdy - just not quite so shiny and perfect.
Still, if this sounds extreme or abusive, the fanning powder will probably work a treat. :)

I actually tired baby powder with a jasmine smell and it worked great not only do they not stick anymore but they now also smell good. Thanks for the tips guys.
