Hi all..
I had my friend over for dinner at my place, and she wanted to know if she'll find a new boyfriend any time soon.. I did a spread that I found online, and started reading for her.
After all the cards came out, and I finished explaning the meaning of each cards to her, she said,
"Wait a sec... This sounds EXACTLY like my last relationship!"
Would it be possible if the reading like this comes out to be just the reflection of the past? or Would it be that she'll likely to get into the relationship that's exactly like the one she had before?
I'm confused...

Either possibility is possible. Did the spread you use indicate "future" positions? If so, she might find herself an another similar relationship! Ppl often do follow patterns, either due to their psychological make up, or some would say "until they've learned the lesson that situation was supposed to provide."

I agree that it easily could be a repeating pattern in the persons life. I also feel very strongly that the Tarot does not "grock" time as we do. I think it sort of "slips" through time and space, in a way we usually cannot. I had a period of about a year, many years ago, where every reading I did, I had to do twice because the first spread was distinctly in the past. I got used to reading the first one and re-shuffling and trying again for the future. :D it took me quite a while to tighten my focus on timeing enough to have some control/accuracy over it.

Our view of time is quite linear. Reality (on a quantum level – the base) tells us that it’s quite a limited view – and not real at all.
Perhaps the friend is repeating past mistakes over and over…
Perhaps our static view of time is not relevant.
Might want to see if this movie is playing in your area…if not…start requesting your local art houses to get it.

Thanks Umbrae, for the pointer to the movie! Looks like I might have to wait till March next year for that movie to open here.. My mind boggles just watching the trailer...

Don't be confused Yerin. Many people I read for ask about love relationships, saying they are done with the old and ready for new even if the cards say they are still working through the grief and lessons of the old. My favorite example: a dear friend was finally divorcing after a very painful marriage and he asked about this new girl that he was dating and was, in fact, engaged to. I got the 4 of swords (RWS). I told he he wasn't ready at all. He insisted he was. As we walked out of the hotel room we were visiting in (this was at a SF con party) he pointed across the way. "see that window? that is where I had the worst night of my life, on my honeymoon." but he still insisted he was all over her.....
I think your friend needs to sort out what she LIKED about her ex and what she didn't like. She wants a guy with his GOOD qualities, but none of his bad qualities. Of course, she will get new bad qualities in the next one, but that is a separate issue.....
