So for the dream Tarot room - what would you have?
Mine would have a french doors to the north into a gorgeous garden. A small round table with 2 chairs. A rectangular coffee table surrounded by a couch and some comfy chairs. Adjustable lighting. A nice desk with beautiful paper and good pens. My altar and a nice supply cabinet. An attached bathroom. Low bookshelves around the walls...

A cabinet with glass doors to display all my decks (of course, I would also need more decks :D)
Shelves with tarot books, and other books that I might use when studying tarot
A wooden table, because I like to lay my cards on wood, and some chairs around the table of course
Green plants like ferns
Prints of my favourite cards on the wall
Tea-pot, cups, different types of (herbal) tea
Burner for essential oil
Candles
Plenty of paper and pencils to take notes
Definitely NO telephone
Portable computer (for Aeclectic) - portable because it will be for other use as well
CD player
Comfy chairs would be nice too
Hope I am not too greedy :D

Well...
I've already got my dream room.
It's about 14' x 14'. the south end of the west wall has the door leading out to the balcony (it's a second story room). at the north end of the west wall there a curtained archway-- it used to be a walk-in closet. It's now my sacred space ( a 6' x 6' little room) and has my altar and all other majical items... a tibetian singing bowl resting on its pillow, a great wand.
I painted the four archangel to go in the corners, and there are four dreamcatchers spaced between them. And my robe hangs there; its a priest's robe-- I got married in it.
There's a window in the center of the south wall. to the right of the window is my desk and computer. In front of the window is my drawing board. to the left of the window and bending round the corner are my bookshelves. Decks hang out there (literally-- from nails on the shelves...) This is my 'occult' library. Somewhere about 300 books.
Running along the rest of the east wall is my vinyl collection. Lots of classical and scads of everything else. Two shelves about six feet long of "real" records.
The north wall and part of the center of the room is the studio portion. my oils and acrylics, a great big easel and lots of canvases waiting to be worked.
Between the balcony and the altar is a love seat with my reading table in front of it. covered in a dark purple cloth, it's about 2and a half by four and real low. A few candles, the incense burner, some scattered crystals....
it took me a long time to earn it....
fly well

ooooo........raven I'm jealous. But I'm sure you deserve it.
My dream room would have to have lots of windows, but with heavy drapes that could be pulled depending on my mood. I also insist that there be a fountain in one of the corners, preferably the corner closest to the door that would lead out to the stone patio. There would be big comfy chairs on each side of the fountain big enough to sit cross legged in so I could meditate to the sound of the running water.
And of course there would be plenty of bookshelfs to house my own personal library. And then a special cabinet for my deck collection. A desk, a rolling chair, my computer (and internet connection of course, for when I'm stumped and need AT as a handy reference :D) a coffee table surrounded by big fluffy cushions, and my chaise lounge. Old as it is, I can't be without it. It's perfect for tarot readings. I just sit cross legged against the back and spread the cards out on the end.
And the whole room would be decorated in the rich, lavish colors and prints of India. Beautiful colors and textures that simultaniously invigorate and relax.
And as finishing touches, plenty of plants, candles and oils to burn (no inscense though....can't stand the stuff)
Mmmmmmm.....I can see it and smell it....if only I could touch it...:P

Just a room that is not a room.
So I invite you to come into my dream Tarot room and it is set up on a cliff overlooking the ocean with some wild volcanic mountains and black sand beaches and lush, lush scenery, fragrant but not too heady aromas on the mild breeze, that never ever blows the cards off the table.
And the flowers are just blooming and hibiscus and ginger and oh everything you can imagine blooming and trees, you know real trees right beside the palm trees.
and paths of brick and stone and statues, unexpected statues, not just the usual fairy or gnome or obligatory Buddha, but stuff that makes you think and wonder, like a giant turtle with children riding it and playing on it, and a three legged dog statue, and statues of two older men or women playing chess and a third chair is there available for you to go and sit with them...
This is like acres of stuff....but within all of it is a wonderful place to sit and read cards, and drink lemonade or iced tea and watch children play, and sit and read books or swim or light candles or play croquet, and always you can go back and toss runes on the table, or color Tarot cards or wonder and wander....

My Dream tarot room would be about twice the size of any room in this house :) It would be wall to wall bookcases for decks, books or just about anything. There would be a large window at one end for me to set up my easel, a sky light for extra light. Room for a table and chairs and room in the other end for a large lounging chair (one of the ones you can sleep in) A Stereo, DVD tv player and computer that are in a cabinet so that they can be hidden away when wanted. and french doors that open onto a garden would be just super!

Just wanted to say that all your dream rooms sound wonderful, and think that it is important to have the dream and know what you would want if ever the opportunity arose. Or better still what to work towards. :)
Ravenswing, your room also sounds very special and luckily for you very real and no doubt you do deserve it! :) There is nothing quite like having a space of your own to retreat to, filled with the things you enjoy.
I once had a dream for a little tarot room, even down to the colour scheme! I have been very blessed that the dream had a chance to become a reality. Albeit not without a lot of work, planning, furniture moving, recycling, sewing etc, but it was definitely worth it. My family helped me work it all out and put it together for a mother's day gift and I love it!!! :D I just wish I could spend more time in it! LOL But I make the most of it when I can.
Here is a link to a pic of my 'Amethyst Reading Room' which I named it because of the colour of the walls and also amethyst is one of my favourite crystals (which I have a few of in the room).

To dare to dream a little bit more, as I love what some of you have said about having doors that open directly outside to the garden. I would love it if that was possible, but as it on the second floor may not be an option, and I am already very content with my little room. ;)
However I so enjoyed you sharing your dreams, I just wanted to share that they can become a reality.

PS. I have also worked hard for it - so I think I deserve it too. ;)

CreativeFire your room is beautiful!
I wish I had a camera with a wide enough angle to take a picture of mine.
Here is a thread I started back in October of last year.
Where I describe my tarot room and others join in.

Type in Tarot Room

It's probably because of the Hacker....alot of threads got messed up.
But I pulled it up and read it so it's still there.

It exists, it would just take winning the Powerball to get it!
The Upstairs Sitting Room in Seaview Terrace. This is the mansion (er, "cottage" in Newport speak!) that played Collinwood in Dark Shadows. It's HUGE, 65 rooms, kind of Gothic, kind of Tudur, mostly French chateau, and has a large tower, which is possibly it's most unique exterior feature. The house and the tower are three stories, and the second floor of the tower is the Upstair Sitting Room. It has enourmous stained glass windows which let in warm light, and an enourmous fireplace. I would add floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. (I have a tape of a walking tour of the house with its current owners.) Here's a pic which shows the exterior of the tower, the room in question features that extremely long stained-glass window.

My cats and I could live quite comfortably there.

Elf, you would love Las Pozas in Xilitla, Mexico. It's a surrealistic scupture garden/ruins in the jungle, with waterfalls and pools running through it...very Alice in Wonderland. Here's a link to read about it: http://www.junglegossip.com/
There was a thread about dream tarot rooms before, here:

But I'll go ahead and re-post mine, since it's my fantasy and I like to spend a lot of time there:
First, as you slide the door aside, you will be instantly greeted with the soft aroma of sweet sandalwood incense. Light, soft music, like Loreena McKennit or Enya, plays on the CD player in the corner. Even the lighting is soft, coming from a lovely Tiffany-style lamp, and a crystal prism in the window throws rainbows all over the room. Across the room, high French doors allow dappled sunlight in from the garden; you hear birds and the soft gurggling of the stream just outside.
Looking around the room, everything seems so soft, comfortable, inviting you to sit and relax. Deep shag rugs, overstuffed chairs, ottomans, and cushions of velvet and sari silk surround a low, wide table decorated with candles and crystals. Tones of eggshell, purples, lavenders, and green predominate. Rich, embroidered fabrics from China and India cover pillows, tabletops, and curtains.
Beautiful round Goddess sculptures and amethyst geodes of all sizes - including one big enough to crawl into - are all throughout the room. Philodendrons drape their leafy vines all over the windows, the tops of bookcases, trailing down, making the room seem to be made as much of plants as walls and floors.
Please come and sit, and have a hot cocoa or Chai tea. Tell me what I can help you with, and we'll have a nice talk.
I feel much better now.

I could imagine turning my dining room into a tarot room without much effort.
Brushing aside the soft silk curtains in the wide archway, you step into a little jewel box of a room. A thick wine colored figured carpet cushions your step. The walls are a soft, robin's egg blue. Is the room half-octagonal? It just looks that way, because set into the corners are curious cupboards, with jeweled bags and wooden boxes on the shelves. A low cabinet runs along the opposite wall, holding demitasse and teacups. Outside the windows, sweet flowers and herbs grow in boxes.
Pierced brass lanterns cast twinkling lights across the room.
(OK, the above is true, what follows is the fantasy part)
You sink into a great pile of silk cushions on the floor. I sit down opposite you, across a small wooden table. I unfold a light blue silk cloth, bordered with glittering stripes, and the reading begins.
(So, if I fold up my dining table and push it against another wall, find a place for the chairs in another room, and collect all the pillows from around the house, this could be an occasional reality)

Well, I have a "semi" dream tarot room. Very old leaded glass French doors that partition off the dining room. I have an old buffet with wines and tea on it. A very large mahogony dining table with crystals and candles......and a matching hutch brimming with an assortment of decks (close to 80 at last count). Then there is my grandmothers old mahogony bookcase that I keep my reference books in... oh....also a cherry wood Victorian style dressing table (newish) that displays more crystals and a scrying mirror. Then in another corner is a tapestry that I needlepointed many years ago,....it sits on an artis style easel. There is a swinging door that separates that room from the kitchen, so when I need privacy I can have it.
I made heavy lined Roman shades for all the windows....9 of them between the living room and dining room. I like them because I can raise them to let in light, or lower them to really feel sequestered.
Anyway, my room isn't very exotic, but it's perfect for readings, scrying, meditation.....and of course the obligatory family gatherings.
