I don't know if this is the place to ask for some suggestions...but will try it out first..:D
Well, a friend of mine celebrates her birthday today. I plan to give her a surprise present, that is a long, in-depth reading. However, I'm quite indecisive what kind of reading should I present her.
Should I do a three-month-forecasting reading? Or a reading on all aspects (what aspects should be include then? or any good spread?) ? Or there are more better suggestions? And also, do you think I should print out the images of the cards shown on the paper containing the reading too?
I'm worry if the reading is not good enough as a birthday present, because I didn't buy any gift for her except to do this reading.
I hope I'm not worrying too much and that you can kindly lend a hand to me.:)
Thanks,
Suriel

I've never done one myself, but what about a horoscope-reading?
A look into who she is and how it effects her life..
I'm not sure if there is a "feature" or other way of getting what the influences of her life will be in the next year or so, but you could always do a 2-4-card spread on what energies she will encounter over the coming years aside from the horoscope spread.
That way she will get some hints and find help to handle any difficulties through the horoscope part where her inner qualities and strenghts are described.

How about a "Birthday Spread"?
I have one in my spreads journal which I know I got from a book a while ago - I think it was "Designing your own Tarot Spreads" by T. Michelson (but please correct me if I am wrong). Very slack of me as I usually note this in my journal :(
Well anyway here it is:
.........9.........
1.......8.......7
2................6
3.......4.......5
(it is supposed to look like a birthday cake with a candle on top ;) )
1. Previous influences that are ending or passing out of your life.
2. Accomplishments of the past year on which to reflect
3. Issues, tasks or goals carried forward from last year into the coming year.
4. Where you are right now
5. New influences that will be coming into your life in the near future
6. Challenges you may face in the coming year
7. Goals that you can achieve in the coming year
8. The overall focus or outlook for the coming year
9. Your Birthday Gift - a blessing you will receive during the year
All the best with the reading :)

Thanks for the suggetsions, Eco74 and CreativeFire!
Both the horoscope reading and the birthday spread are very nice, and I may ended up doing both of them...lol
Anyway, it's been really nice of you people to help me out.
Thanks,
Suriel

Sometimes postionless spreads (no assigned position meanings to the cards I mean) can be very helpful too.

I agree with Alissa. Ive recently been playing with a "ladder" spread where you just lay out the cards, one after another, reading as you go. I go up to about 50 cards or so, and I get lots of information from it. It could be a fun way to celebrate your friend's birthday; it is in-depth and somewhat time consuming. Open a bottle of wine and go at it!
