I find this topic of great interest as I just had a Tarot dream last night. I have placed this dream in another posting for Diana in regards to a reading, but I also think that it is appropriate to place it here as well.
In the dream, I was on horseback riding next to a fellow I had never seen before. Though I was riding next to him, he didn’t seem to notice me (in fact- no one there seemed to notice me as if I were invisible).
We were riding through the streets of a very old town and it must have been European based upon the cobblestone small winding streets and little shops. It was very bright and colorful, more than likely early afternoon, the sun was very bright and golden. I had the feeling that this may have been long ago based upon the clothing that people were wearing.
We continued our ride up the street and found ourselves riding through and in the opposite direction of a small street carnival ( dancers, musicians, fire eaters etc.). Suddenly a very exotic beautiful woman of dark complexion rides along the man next to me. She was wearing a long flowing purple dress with an unusual cone shaped hat. She told the man that she knew of a beautiful girl that he should meet. She informed him that even though she was mute, she had the ability to communicate through the use of Tarot cards. This girls shop was just up the street a bit and when we arrived, indeed a beautiful young woman stepped out of the shop and lead the man inside. She had white-blonde hair and intense, huge blue eyes. She was wearing a very simple blue and white outfit.
I didn’t go in the shop with them. Again, I was noticed by no one. While I waited outside of the shop, I noticed that there were these hoods created by her and they had been embroidered with extreme detail. They were stunning and they reflected nature scenes of meadows and sunny skies. Just as I was paying attention to them, two other fellows walked up to the hoods. One of the men said to the other, “Some believe that these hoods are to be worn by warriors just as they set off to battle to die, but I believe that they can be worn at any time” It was just then that I glanced into the shop and saw the blonde reading Tarot for the man. I then saw that hanging in the window was the same scarf that I use to wrap about my power deck.
Comments or ideas anyone?

We continued our ride up the street and found ourselves riding through and in the opposite direction of a small street carnival ( dancers, musicians, fire eaters etc.). 4 of Wands? When I first read this, the 6 of Cups also sprang to mind for some reason.
And here I thought right away of the High Priestess.
This girls shop was just up the street a bit and when we arrived, indeed a beautiful young woman stepped out of the shop and lead the man inside. She had white-blonde hair and intense, huge blue eyes. She was wearing a very simple blue and white outfit. High Priestess again... because of the blue and white outfit.
I then saw that hanging in the window was the same scarf that I use to wrap about my power deck. The hoods reminded me of the 3 of Pentacles. The part where you talked about warriors going off to battle reminded me of the Knight of Swords.
Does this help? I can't figure out the meaning of your dream either. I did dream a few times of the tarot, it was all in colour (I never dream in b&w) and was like a movie. I wish I could remember it, but I'm left only with impressions and emotions and I can't even put those down in words lol. I did get these dreams when I used to sleep with my deck under my pillow though.

Thank you Starhermit and Alissa for your insights and comments. I too liked the way that Stahermit was able to make the connections between certain cards, it was very insightful, though this dream may have been a bit deeper than card correlation. Sometimes I have what I refer to as Astral Visitations rather than dreams. I’m sure that many of the forum users have had them as well. When you are there, it is very difficult to distinguish from reality, with the exception of the many surreal event that occur ( but this is the norm for the Astral plane). Often, I will meet the spirits of deceased friends and relatives there who have yet to move on. It is an amazing place where one can learn much. Sometimes, however, I will have an experience like the one I had last night and wake up the next morning thinking, “now what was that all about?” What was unusual about the visit last night was that I seemed to be invisible to the others there as if I were a disembodied observer. Hmmm….
Thank you both again for your input!

Thankyou for posting those links, Alissa. Very helpful :).
sprouseart- your dream was interesting. It didn't seem very fragmented as dreams often are. When you say that you were in the dream but nobody could see you, did you mean that you were really there but invisible to everyone else or were you just hanging over the situation, watching? I agree with starhermit about the first woman being really high priestess-y but the second woman reminds me of the empress a bit- the simple gown makes me think of her as pure, natural. Also, I use the RWS deck so the empress on that is blonde and fair. Did you want to go into the shop or was something holding you back? Often, we can't do what we want to do in dreams. :(

Sprouseart: Your dream very vivid; seems to contain elements of a past life as well as expressive of a Tarot-related message.
Nevertheless: the first thought is are there plans to develop or design a Tarot deck?

Thank you MeeWah and Raeven for your comments and questions.
Raeven - in the dream I felt as if I were really there, just somehow invisible to the people. I felt as if I were rdining alongside of the man on horseback, but somehow, no one noticed my prescence.
MeeWah - Yes, I have just started the process of creating a deck and working on a book as well. Though, I think it may take a bit of time, as I intend to make a different painting for each card. 78 paintings total. It would make quite an exhibit!lol

Sprouseart: I have experienced dreams where it seems I am "visiting" a place much as an observer in that I do not interact with anyone I may see. & neither does anyone interact with me. Almost as if I am not supposed to or prevented from interacting. Which is why those dreams strike me as "observer" or "visiting" dreams.
Then there are the dreams wherein I immediately know whilst in dream state to represent messages & usually to pertain to a future event. Usually characterized by their particular setting--a white place devoid of any props or outdoors at night.
In the white room/place, I am told information that either relates to me or someone else. If it relates to someone else, it is that same person who is present & tells me the information. I checked on a couple of these dreams & in each case, the person who appeared in the dream claimed no knowledge of the information or event (though that may be moot) but did eventually come to pass. The night-time dreams are usually symbolic & I just know what they represent on a personal level. They are either an answer to a question I have not realized I had or precognitive.
I was wondering: the setting in your dream appears medieval or at least, in a far past. Is it too much to ask if the setting resembles the deck planned? If it does not, it sounds suggestive of such, as if providing ideas/inspiration &/or to refer to a significant time.
78 paintings is a monumental endeavour; however, based on what I saw of your paintings online, I am sure ye up to it & the deck would be awesome!

Thank you for this thread. A few times here various people have suggested that dreams can be reflective of past lives.
Seven years ago I had an incredibly detailed dream where I was sitting in a little shop in Paris. People were drinking what I thought was coffee and something alcoholic. There were a few lanterns on the walls and the furniture was old but well made. It was also cold and there were fires inside.
I knew it was not the 20th century because of the clothes people were wearing. They were speaking French and I could understand them. (I can understand written French quite well in this life but can't speak it).
The strange thing was that although I was sitting there no-one seemed to see me and no-one spoke to me. An odder thing was that I had a serious head injury that was held together with dried blood and the hat I was wearing. I was too afraid to move for fear that the head would start bleeding again. So I sat in this odd situation for what seemed like an endless time before waking up.
I was writing an MA thesis at the time of this dream and working more than full time so was under considerable stress. I thought the dream was simply indicative of that. It was not until reading this thread and something that MeeWah wrote that it occurred to me that the dream may have been reflective of a past life.
An extra item of synchronicty perhaps is that since encountering the Marseilles I have begun to read French again, something I have not done since secondary school. I loved French in school and was quite good at writing and reading the language. Lately I have been able to pick it up again, with a dictionary, but otherwise quite effortlessly. I wondered just now if this facility with the language after almost 40 years is also indicative of past life experience - perhaps somewhere in France.
My family has a French name, and many centuries ago my father's ancestors moved from France to Scotland.
Sorry to but in on your thread and your dream Sprouseart but for some reason the discussion had resonance with me. I rarely remember dreams but this was one of a few dreams that I remember with considerable awareness. The chords of familiarity with your thread are also connected with the sense of being fully present somewhere but no-one seeing you. It does not even seem strange when I think about it now.
Best wishes ~

I've just revisited this thread and see that it is in Talking Tarot which makes my post quite irrelevant, Moderrators please ferl free to delete my post if you need to. Dreams usually go somewhere else, I'm aware. I would soomer have the post deleted than relocated.
Thanks

Michael...what a powerful dream that was not a dream! Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. I can't pretend to know exactly what this experience means for you but would like to share a few thoughts if I may...
The last paragraph sums it up very well I think:
The original expression of your dream not a dream left me with some very strong impressions...many of which you and others have also expressed in one way or another...
I do feel that this was not your ordinary dream, that there is an element of astral projection at work here and that you have been blessed with some very important information.
Only you can know in your heart whether or not this was a "past life" visitation, however, my personal feeling on what you shared was that you were given the opportunity to meet your Tarot Guide Spirit (for lack of a better descriptive term) in a non-confrontational manner. In other words...the Spirit that is a part of you but not you in essence and form. There are several things about your experience that lead me to draw that conclusion: the fact that she is mute but able to communicate through the cards, the fact that this pivotal "character" is a she and not a he...there is a balance of masculine and feminine energies throughout your experience, the fact that you are there but not there throughout, your interest in the stunningly beautiful hoods and the comments you overheard, and finally the presence of your own deck scarf hanging in the shop window.
So...going on my own premise (which may or may not be Truth)...perhaps the most burning question is why did I reach out to my guide?? You must first understand that Spirits who guide do not visit us...we visit them!! We go to them when we are ready to learn! So what is it that you feel you are ready to learn? (rhetorical question) Perhaps the answer can be found in the conversations you overheard, the items that struck you so profoundly--like the hoods and scarf, and the emotions you felt throughout your journey.
For me, the hood and the scarf are very powerful items of interest in this teaching you experienced...I don't know what they meant in relation to you...but I get the strong impression that they are the keys to your journey. When the man says “Some believe that these hoods are to be worn by warriors just as they set off to battle to die, but I believe that they can be worn at any time”, perhaps he is telling you what you need to know...that you can go into that spiritual space at any time! And when upon hearing this, you realize (dumbstruck) that your own scarf is hanging in the window...that is when you make the connection in your heart between what you heard and what you are experiencing.
I hope something I have said will help you understand your journey more fully. Thanks again for sharing this powerful experience with the rest of us!
Blessings To You
