Has anyone bought a limited edition deck purely for investment purposes?
Or have you bought a deck that you’ve liked the look of, but weren’t sure you could read with it, but decided to buy it because it was limited, and it’s worth would increase as the years passed?

i havent done that yet, but it is something i considered. i know alot of you would think of it as 'wrong', but also remeber, investment decks are also a way to preserve something when everyone else has lost theirs or used them so much that they are no longer useful as a reference or maybe a museum piece.

I did that with the Servants of the Light. I bought it pretty much because I saw it for only $25. BUT once I got it home I realized it was a great reading deck for me on serious matters.
So actually I bought it as an investment but ended up finding a wonderful deck to read with and would never part with it now! :)

I can't think of anyone here who would think that was wrong, Vily. What you do with your decks and your money is your business.

I buy limited edition decks because they won't get any cheaper. I'm a collector, and I try to obtain limited editions while I can, so that I won't have to pay more for them later. I plan to never sell any of my decks, so they are technically not an investment for me. Still, I try to get the best bargain possible, (see "Best Bargains" thread), and thoroughly enjoy the hunt. About 35% of my collection is OOP, with another significant portion consisting of private issue decks. There are many very common decks that I lack, but with luck, they'll be around for a while.

I would not buy an expensive limited deck in the hope it would increase in money - I would probably end up not wanting to sell it at all, so it would become an (even more) expensive hobby, LOL.
If I would find an out of print deck I did not want myself, it is very probable I would not even recognize it. But assuming I did - I would pick it up and probably sell or trade it on Aeclectic to someone who really wanted it. The reason being that I myself got some oop decks here through a trade, a cheap buy and even as a gift, so that would be my turn to make someone happy :)
Don't think I am the kind of person to get rich from investing in decks.
