im finding it really hard to connect with the tarot cards. sometimes i pick just one card from the pack look at it and nothing comes to mind. or im doing a reading and get nothing from the cards. not sure why this has happened, i just get angry with myself as before i could understand them all and do readings really well, why has this happened, is there anything i can do to understand them again,
my mind just seems fuzzy when i look at them. i feel like i have lost a good friend.

You may be just tired or maybe you need a break. I took a six month break not long ago. These things happen. Maybe you were overdoing it, or something else. Don't look at as losing a good friend, but concentrating more about yourself as regards it. Were you too dependant? Or not enough. Think about it. And give yourself a break most important of all. You'll get back to Tarot klater if you wish. Or not. Whatever works for you.

I don't know about this experience per se, but it does sound rather like the dreaded "writer's block". Which I tend not to see as a bad thing. Sometimes I'm working very intensely on a group of poems. Then I hit a phase when no poems get written, or I write them and then tear them up because they so clearly don't work. I don't think of it as a block, just a fallow time which is part of the natural process. I try not to worry about it, and just "trust the process." When I'm not writing a lot, I read a lot. I don't know what the Tarot equivalent of this would be-reading a lot of Tarot books, or mythology if you're drawn to those decks, I guess.
just my pennyworth.

P. S. I have just looked at your personal profile. Am I right in thinking you do readings for a living ? If so, a drought of this kind must feel very anxiety-making indeed. Umm. My sympathies.

Hi LoveinSpirit!
Well, having just gone through this myself with the minors, I can definitely relate to the stress and panic of the "reading block" ;) I think given your particular situation you are putting waaaay too much pressure on yourself (as I was) to know everything about the card in order to share your knowledge with others...for me, I had to take about 4 days "off" (no looking at cards, no reading cards or books, etc)...
then a funny thing happened...I did several cold readings by request for Halloween. I was extremely nervous because I have never done public readings before and because I was very scared that my "block" would impede my readings and really disappoint people.
Instead, what I found was that all the readings were exactly what and how much each querent needed and I had a great time!!! I also found that I didn't have to know every possible meaning of every card because when I started doing the readings they fell together and made perfect sense to the querent (even when I wasn't quite sure myself!).
What I am trying to say to you is relax and try not to put so much pressure on yourself. I know your next class is coming up very quickly and you are probably blocking out of fear that the class is going to be a painful experience for you again. Trust in the cards!!! And trust in yourself!! You know so much more than you are giving yourself credit for and the class will take on a life and tone of its own in time. If you get concerned or feel blocked in the middle of the class...have the students "teach" by relating to the rest of the class what they interpret certain cards to mean. You have an opportunity to teach as well as learn in your position and once you open the dialogue to include the whole class you will be able to relax a bit and share the knowledge that is within you!

Try a bit of free forming, (if we were talking managment techniques its called brainstorming) just turn over a card and say the first thing that comes to mind, it doesnt matter how stupid or daft it sounds. write everything down, then leave it for a couple of days and then read what you have put down for each card. look at what you have written and try and see if it fits to the card.
this pushes your boundaries, it expands your insight and thats the idea.... to EXPAND instead of contract. i get the impression you are trying to focus and pin down something, restricting your perception instead of expanding it. Its all about being open instead of closed.....I hope i have explained that ok

Sometimes I find it hard to use the cards after i've read for someone really negative..Maybe your cards just need some cleansing? I like to use the moonlight and get all the energy back into them
