Does anyone meditate/ground/center before doing a reading for a client? And has anyone tried meditating WITH a client before performing a reading?

Just wanted to share this experience....
About a month ago, a good friend introduced me to a "grounding" type of meditation that we use before I read cards for her. Her readings were so clear and accurate that I recently decided to meditate with all my clients before reading for them.
Here's what a difference a couple of minutes can make. Yesterday, I had a client who told me she was nervous about the cards before we even started the reading. To put her mind at ease I suggested we meditate before shuffling the cards. And after we meditated she said became totally relaxed and was open to receiving any information I had to share with her. Then the reading began. Not all the information was "favorable" but my client was very pleased nonetheless. She said she was thankful for the reading itself but particularly grateful for the quality time she got to spend with herself while in meditation.
I'm curious if anyone has questions, comments, suggestions, or experiences about doing this type of meditation before a tarot reading.

The reader first had me sit straight in the chair with both feet on the ground and my arms relaxed, my hands on my lap/knees, palms upward, fingers also loose. I've done this in small classes before, but doing it before a reading was a new experience. She said she liked to take a few minutes doing this with each client before they asked their question, because it helped the client clear their mind and helped center their energy for the reading.
The standard meditative visualization of imagining a ball of white light from the head down through the body and releasing tension, etc., down back into the earth...the link below was helpful for a short form of what I remember the reader did for the meditation...it's near the bottom...

I remember it was a 20 minute reading, with about five minutes to relax, about ten minutes for the reading and another five for question, clarification. I had asked about a general reading for the next month because of some changes I was going through. The relaxation technique made an impression and your post reminded me that it made the experience stand out in my mind in a positive way.
Is this similar to the type of meditation experience you liked to do with the client, or is it too long?
Best regards,
Cerulean

I always meditate and ground now before a reading. It really does make a difference, even 30 seconds helps. I can't read Tarot now without it!

The concept of meditating or "grounding" before a reading is excellent. Asking the querent to join you is a really great idea, as long as they are comfortable with it and it doesn't just create an undesirable distraction...possibly for both of you. Because of my own particular belief system and "tarotology", my own best readings begin with prayer, formal or otherwise. The key thing here is what "works"!

Yep, I always ground and centre myself before a reading, sometime if I feel as if I need to I open my chakras too.
Takes a couple of minutes at the most but really helps to focus the mind.

I always take time to clear, pray and meditate. I ask for help, and try and calm and centre myself. I know this makes the message a lot clearer. I have never done this with a live querent. I do it (mentally) myself but have never yet involved the other. Good idea though.

I usually ground, center & meditate prior to a reading, whether with or without the presence of the querent. Most in-person clients are not familiar with meditation nor do they read, so I tell them to take a few minutes for quiet time whilst I do my thing. With some readings conducted at a distance, I ask the client to keep the time though not necessary. On occasion, there is no time--noticed this occurs usually without the presence of the client. Tend to go straight to "reading mode" anyway, as if the body already knows, is prepared & swings directly to that state. Which means I have to stop whatever I am doing & ignore all else to pay attention.

Cerulean, that was a great meditation link, thanks for sharing!
I always meditate, ground and center before any major reading. Sometimes I'll just yank a daily card out, but anything big gets the prep. It increases the quality of information I get from the cards, and I feel calmer and more open to the intuitive meanings.
The idea of having the querent meditate too, is an interesting one. IF I ever have a client-- :D ---I might use it.

I very rarely ground or center before a reading for myself or anyone else. If I'm not feeling focused, I find that the act of shuffling and laying out cards can bring me into the moment almost every time. In the rare instances where I still don't feel totally focused, those times have often ended up being really good readings!
However, I think meditiating with the client can be a really good idea, especially since sometimes clients come in fairly distraught or nervous. It might help them to relax and be able to get more from the reading. I'll have to try that.
