This is kind of a strange posting, but just wanted to see if anyone has the same feelings ...
I mentioned in a thread the other day that occasionally I take my RWS as comfort, since it is one of my oldest decks and is starting to show it physically.
I have always been conscious of the fact but never really thought too much about it before, but whenever I look at the '5 of Swords', in my mind, I can hear the sound of the sea ... as if it is in the distance. It always sounds like it is from some sort of eerie dream and reminds me of the darkening of a late afternoon on the south coast of England. In the same way, when I see the Rohrig 'hanged man', I always get this vision of him being suspended at the top of a really high mountain that I have climbed. There is never anyone about but the mountain overlooks a really busy and massive city. It is dark and all I can see is the twinkling lights and can hear faint sirens. The hanged man can be seen through the parting of trees in a small clearing. It's a really odd and kind of haunting vision I have, that comes from pathworking many years ago. It is also really comforting to think about climbing the hill to look for him and to watch him from a little way back as he hangs so peacefully.
Told you this was an odd thread ... anyone else have these kind of experiences with the cards. The strange thing is that the sounds of the sea has been happening for a long time, but I have never actually drawn attension to it before.

Hiya Yaboot -
For me , it's the High Priestess . I can almost really feel the temperature of where she sits , I can "hear" the echoing footsteps as one walks on the cold marble floor , the sort of silence that is there ....
Is that the kind of thing that you mean ?

I had a dream when I was 12 about a green place, and several cards in the Hudes Tarot remind me of it. Green places, the visual is very strong after over 30 years.
Never heard the sea though, but here's a relevant song. Substitute the pronoun "he" for "she" as you fancy. Maybe you need to go beyond the sea Yab?
BEYOND THE SEA
(La Mer)
(Charles Trenet / Jack Lawrence)
Bobby Darin - 1960
Somewhere beyond the sea
somewhere waiting for me
my lover stands on golden sands
and watches the ships that go sailin
Somewhere beyond the sea
she's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
then straight to her arms
I'd go sailin'
It's far beyond the stars
it's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
my heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
we'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
and never again I'll go sailin'
I know beyond a doubt
my heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet (I know we'll meet) beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
and never again I'll go sailin'
no more sailin'
so long sailin'
bye bye sailin'...
*****
LA MER
(Beyond The Sea)
(A. Lasry / Charles Trenet)
Charles Trenet (France)
Miguel Bosé (Panama)
Qu'on voit danser le long des golfes clairs
A des reflets d'argent
La mer
Des reflets changeants
Sous la pluie
La mer
Au ciel d'été confond
Ses blancs moutons
Avec les anges si purs
La mer bergère d'azur
Infinie
Voyez
Près des étangs
Ces grands roseaux mouillés
Voyez
Ces oiseaux blancs
Et ces maisons rouillées
La mer
Les a bercés
Le long des golfes clairs
Et d'une chanson d'amour
La mer
A bercé mon cœur pour la vie

Pamela Colman Smith was remarkably well travelled,
and in a day when Ocean Liners were state of the art.
While we often hear that she 'died penniless' at age 73
(isn't that too bad for the taxman) she was comfortable.
Imagine this wise and wonderful woman of the world ~
and she was 27 she moved to seaside Bude, in Cornwall.
Fancy that! Here was a person able to pay her own way.
Ah what sweet lyrics we may find in her artwork still...
Let's begin to celebrate 100 years by reclaiming this deck
as The Colman Smith Tarot of 1909. "Rider-Waite" who?

The Star card from the Fey Tarot, which has been my favorite and most used deck since the day I got it, shows a beautiful and serene-looking fey standing on a balcony with her eyes closed and her head thrown back like she is breathing in the calm of the dark night.
She reminds me of when I was so much younger and my parents were still together, when we would have to get up very early in the morning when it was still dark outside and take my dad to work, so that my mom could have the car. When I see this card, I can smell the early morning air. I dont really know how to describe it, other than its just so clean with a hint of moisture from the dew. Its not really cold, but its crisp. Oh the smell......
