UK Aeclectic Members - Where do you live?

I've noticed a recent surge in the number of new members who identify their location as somewhere in the UK and Ireland.
I thought it might be useful if we identified regions where there are concentrations of members. Sorry that my UK regional knowledge only really extends to England.
We could use the information to plan Aeclectic meet-ups. ;)
Now, I don't want to exclude anyone from voting, so I've included some options that will appply to just about everyone from around the Globe.
I'm rather hoping people will feel comfortable enough to identify their region here on the thread. To get things started let me say that I live in deepest, darkest, East Anglia, that is, Framlingham, Suffolk.

Well, I was born in East Anglia, moved to Dorset at the age of 8, and finally came to live here, in Cardiff, Wales a couple of years ago.
And here's where I'll be staying for quite a while, I hope.
(There are loads of Cardiff Tarot folks here... Quite a thriving community in fact. :D)

Hi Major Tom,
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Do you mean to ask where people who are born in the UK are now living?
I hope you're not suggesting that Ireland is part of the UK (I'm talking about the Republic now - we won't get into the Northern Ireland thing).
'Cos, ahem! We're very touchy about our independence over here })
P.S. I mean this question in the best possible taste and tone :) I also don't mean to get political I'm just honestly wondering what this poll is about.
blessings,
Kate

I think the question is plain enough. :) Where do you live in relation to the UK?
Nothing about where you were born - just where you live now. :)
Ireland is indeed an independent nation. :D
I'm sorry if my ordering of the options for the poll in any way offended.
There's lots more people here who actually live in the UK!
Come on people it's time to vote. })
I think it's absolutely brilliant there's a tarot cafe organising in Liverpool. :D Well done Charming Pixie. :)
I love to see something similar in East Anglia.
Hmmm - need a venue... what's a good way to find a venue?
I can look around Ipswich. ;)

My apologies, Major Tom, I can't think what made me make such a crotchety post. Unless it was because I was so exhausted - flew home from Durban over the weekend (about 24 hours travelling in all). Only to find my heating system had broken down, and no lights upstairs. :( Went wading through new posts in Aeclectic for distraction - read your poll post hastily and posted hastily. Excuses, excuses, but anyway, sorry, and good luck with identifying your concentrations of citizens. :) :) :)

There's lots more people living in the UK at Aeclectic than have voted. When I looked, only 21 people from the UK had voted.
Please! Have your vote in this poll. The poll itself is entirely anonymous. You do not have to identify where you live in order to vote. No one will know how you vote unless you tell us yourself. ;)
I've rather found that trying to get Aeclectic members in the UK together to be a bit like herding cats. Frustrating for me and annoying for them.

Have you noticed that people in other countries (many sizes larger than ours) will travel for hours to get somewhere to meet someone, but in England, if it involves a journey on the the motorway, or is more than an hour from home, people start to get panicked and treat it like a major expedition, not to be undertaken lightly, and not without a flask of tea and some spare sandwiches in case of hunger or thirst!.
lol

I was thinking about this just last week when I went up to Wigan to visit my family. It's exactly 100 miles away - takes us a couple of hours on the motorway (unless the M6 is a nightmare which is often the case) and I always think of it as such a long journey.
A few years ago though my husband and I used to put on free rave parties and we thought nothing of driving 100 miles for a night out :)

I know there's still lots and lots more folk who haven't voted.
TABI members should feel welcome to identify themselves.

Hi, there i'm in Bognor Regis (south coast) the sun capital of the UK (ha,ha) actually it really is the sun capital. I would love to meet up with some aeclectic members from the south coast, but could not drive further than 100 miles without a severe panic attack and at least 3 weeks planning (not really) so let's see if we can sort something out.

Huh - don't know why I didn't see this thread earlier. Thanks for bumping it up, Jewel-ry.
Anywho, I live in West Yorkshire, in dire Bradford to be exact. Bit of a change from Washington, DC where I used to live. :)
I would love to have a meetup at some point, but I doubt there are any AT-ers in my neck of the woods.
Mind you, I define my neck of the woods relatively broadly. As a run-of-the-mill American, I have been known to drive 13 hours to go to the beach, and think nothing of driving 350 miles to visit friends or family for the weekend. We Americans practically live in our cars, which is why we like them so big, I think. (Cars here are just tiny - they look like toys!) One of the things I've found the hardest to get used to since moving here in September is the conception of distance. I don't think I'll ever be able to view 100 miles as a long way. But you know what they say: "100 miles is a long way to an English person; 100 years is a long time to an American." I already say chips instead of fries, though, so who knows? ;)

Hee hee - excellent. I always enjoy meeting other American expats. It's good to hear the accent every once in a while.
I'm not sure I could make a meetup in London, though. Well, not any time soon. I haven't any income at the moment, so a ticket to London is a bit out of my reach. But something a bit farther north would probably be doable. Any northerners want to have a get together? I suppose you southerners would be welcome too. ;) York, Leeds, and Manchester are all nice.
If not, I'll sit this one out and wait for the next aeclectic UK gathering.

Hi Moonbow* :)
The Scillies - lucky you! Is it blustery there this time of year? I wonder if you get to the mainland Cornwall much. My favourite place in the West is St Just and Zennor - just beautiful.
It's been JOLLY COLD here this week - even frost three mornings, frequent snow and hail and sleet showers, and a bitterly cold fierce wind. I have lost tender plants in the garden - they've shrivelled up and gone all brown :(
We returned to the islands on Tuesday (half term trip to Disneyland Paris with the teenage offspring) and didn't catch the helicopter till 4.40pm so we spent the afternoon driving around the Lands End Peninsula down to Lamorna Cove, Porthcurno and the coast.
Weather looks good for the weekend though - hope everyone in the UK gets to see some sunshine and blue sky!
