LOL..okay I know a lot of you may want to throw your cards at me..but hoping to connect to other Tarot Readers who are dayplanner freaks like me and use it to store information, etc.
I'm looking for a way to create a "sheet" of tarot meanigns, worksheet, requests, etc. to keep in my dayplanner since it's smaller and more portable.

I'm also a dayplanner freak -- I have a Franklin Covey planner. When I want to add pages about something, I just type them on my computer, and try to approximate the size of the page. After it's typed, I cut the paper to fit, punch the holes and insert it. I have an extra bunch of tabs, so I label the tab and put the typed pages behind it.

I have a separate journal for readings, but I do put them in my planner if I am not home.
Here is what I do.
I write down the question.
I write down the spread with cards in place.
I write the meaning that I am giving to each card.
Then I write a summmary of the reading.
Sort of like this --
How can I help my friend who is having... problem?
Past -- King of Cups
Present -- Hermit
Future -- Nine of Swords
Past -- her father was strong and healthy.
Present -- she is living like a hermit.
Future -- Depression
This reading tells me that I need to help her deal with the depression that she is in because of her father's failing health.
Hope this helps -- Sue

I created a sheet to record readings to store in your dayplanner...It's saved as a MWord 97 (to make it easier with everyone who has different versions).
If you would like a copy please PM and I'll send it to you...I left the back blank so you can record the spread diagram on it...Nothing fancy but it works.

This sounds really interesting. It sure seems to get things in "order"...oh I need "order". You should see my so called "journalling" if you want to call it that. Notes and words and pieces of papers stapled together and highlighted phrases and oh man...what a MESS! I go and buy another notebook to get two notebooks arranged in some sensible order only to get the new notebook just as confusing as all the rest. It's really too funny...sigh

Hehehe...i'm addicted to my dayplanner...I have a section for readings, section for spreads and going to fix up a reference area as well...I am more than happy to share what I make with others. I can use the feedback and if it can help all of you..that would be just as great too!!

But seriously...I'll be happy to help you out with starting up a dayplanner or something for your tarot reading...my dayplanner is my mini BOS/Work/Tarot planner....

I have such poor organizational skills my sixteen year old is on a mission to get me organized. I am WhiteRaven's tarot-mess twin ... and I only started working with Tarot a few months ago. So I second the request for any tips and hints you can give us. I see a dayplanner in my future.
Gratefully,
Maggie

This is sort of related -- Barnes and Noble is offering a free course, starting January 10, called Focus - Your Highest Priorities, or something like that. The class is based on the Franklin Covey planning system. I took it last time, and thought it was very good, but things came up and I didn't finish.
The class works you through determining your values and goals, and then applying what you really want to do to your daily life.
The class is free -- it's probably better if you buy the CD, but you don't have to.

And one more thing...
You might want to check out http://www.getorganizednow.com
The website has lots of information, and sends out a weekly newsletter.
Sue, messy, but obsessed with the idea of being organized...

The form I made is for a 5.5 x 8.5...it's set so you can fold it in half and cut it then punch holes for whatever dayplanner you have..I have a 5.5 x 8.5 Franklin Covey dayplanner that I use...The template I have can be "blown up" so it'll suit your needs better...Saves having to rewrite everything...the reason I was thinking dayplanner so when I'm out and about I won't have to lug everything with me...will see about working on references in a few week so you can have a "quick tips" tarot sheet to refer to.

I'll check out the B&N class; sounds perfect for me. It was a B&N Tarot class that got me interested in looking at Tarot again. Very good class, too.

Hi, bladerunner!
Please don't stress yourself out working out the details of the dayplanner ... just post ideas and we can all work it out together. I'm stopping after work today to pick up a planner. Not sure I can get a Franklin planner ... does Office Max carry them? Or Staples? Anybody know?
Regards,
Maggie

I'm not sure if they sell them or not. If they don't, you can check out
www.franklincovey.com and order it online.
I also took the B&N tarot course -- several times, in fact. I thought it was very well done.

This sounds really cool....but now you have me wondering what kind of day planner I have here....there's no name on it. Does that matter?

I know that Target carries Franklin Covey's...I don't think names really matter White Raven...I know office max carries 5.5 x 8.5 binders if you want to use something that small..the only reason I use a 5.5 x 8.5 is that it's easier to carry in my purse, tote bag, etc....

I have one of those little electronic organizers -- you know, the ones with calendars, to do lists, phone numbers, aniversary dates, expense sheets and memos. The memo section makes a nice tarot card key word and comments organizer. Its small, easy to use and easy to update or change. Dave.

I must have ... must have ... do you know where he found it?!
i think he got it at a little occult shop in manhattan... but there is always the internet....
i finally got a chance to really look through it today. there's some beautiful tarot artwork, and suggestions for powerful spellcasting days, along with suggestions for candle colors to use and cards to focus on.
i have the day-by-day variety, so i think it will double nicely as a journal.

A good question to ask here is...you have a dayplanner (muggle version...lol)..what do you think can be added to it to make it more personal as a tarot reader??

There are all kinds of things you can do. I do rubber stamping, so I stamp things in my dayplanner. I have a whole set of the Major Arcana (can't remember where I got them -- they were an unmounted sheet). You can also color copy some of your favorite cards and glue them to pages. You can also just type up some of your favorite expressions, or keywords, or whatever -- and glue those to pages.

Sheesh ... some great ideas here! Our local AC Moore has an awesome section of stamps and stickers (we are *never* too old to play with stickers!). And watercolor pencils and, oh my! My gotta-have-it list is getting longer by the minute. I ordered the Seasons of the Witch planner and am (im)patiently awaiting its arrival (yeah, I know, I just ordered it yesterday and I doubt the stork will drop it at my house any time soon!).
In the meanwhile, I bought a plain-jane notebook and have been half-heartedly working with that ... I think getting creative using some of these ideas should spark the ole engine.
Thanks to all! I'll keep checking in for more hints and tips!

Any ideas about how to keep track of people read for and when..
I was thinking about the COS and then realize that there are people on the side that I want to read for as well...Any ideas how to organize that on a sheet??
I was thinking
Name of Reader
Cards Preferred
Date Read:
Spread Used:
and keep a seperate sheet for each reader so I can keep track of requests...

Any ideas about how to keep track of people read for and when..
i've been thinking about that too. i keep track in my tarot journal, but it's mostly for people i know. (friends, co-workers, etc.) but for people i don't know, i want to keep more detailed records.
i was thinking about a 3-ring binder so i can add more pages if necessary, and basically keeping a profile for each client, along with results of readings and updates from return clients.
it seems like a lot of work considering a lot of people have readings done just for fun and won't ever come back, but for regular clients, i think they would appreciate all the special attention. but then again, i don't want a bunch of paperwork to interfere with the atmosphere surrounding a reading. you know, i don't want it to seem like i'm "just doing my job"... i think i need to develop some kind of shorthand so i can jot things down, and make more detailed notes after the client leaves.
i would love to hear everyone else's ideas!

Sounds like the same dilemna..
I have been trying to figure out a way that I can keep track of requests..say via AT requests and then co-workers..etc...that way no one gets forgotten...I have a template for readings...but then I got to thinking..what about repeats??

I will be happy to email anyone who is interested in a sort of Tarot Reading Contact list to keep track of who you read for ie. their birthdate, contact information, last reading..It's very basic right now..but feedback is always welcome.
I use my contact sheet for *repeat contacts* and on my reading sheet...i would assign a number say M(Male)1, M2, etc or F(Female), F2, etc on both the contact and the reading sheet...so when I look at the reading sheet and on the upper corner I see...F1 or M1, etc. I know this sheet was someone I previously read for (as reference)....if I'm reading once for someone, then I just use the reading sheet...yes...You should see my desk at work, color coded and tabbed..even my tarot book, Tarot Plain and Simple is color tabbed...I'm a sad sad person.

that brings up a question... do you keep track of how the reading went, in terms of cards drawn, questions asked, etc? if so, how do you go about recording this info during a session?
