This is not a thread about what your favorite deck is - or what deck you use the most. I'm curious as to what deck you find to be the most 'truthful'... meaning, the cards often have a way of just hitting home and telling you what's up (and maybe what you know but don't really want to hear)...
Some may argue that all cards do this, its just how well we read the messages... but I think some decks just have a way of cutting to the core in ways that others do not. Perhaps we just bond with decks differently.
For me, it is the Froud Faeries' Oracle.
The Faeries' have a way of telling me exactly what I know deep down - but hate admitting. They tell me when I'm having a pity party, caught in the 'grass is greener' syndrome, etc.
What deck does this for you?

The Haindl deck does this for me... So, I don't use it that often... :) Just don't like to be hit that often. ;)

For me it is without a doubt the Thoth. I often use the Morgan-Greer as well, but the Thoth, well, its not a "nice" deck. It isn't friendly in the least. When I read with them, I know I'm going to have it all with no frills.

I think the "merciless" answers depend very much of the relationship you have with your deck, if you keep a honest, mature and yet friendly relationship you will get the answers you need for you or someone else, my Universal Waite has talked to me in a very straight and brutal way whenever it's necessary. On the other hand my Hanson Roberts is good at telling "uncomfortable" truths but I feel it's more diplomatic than the Universal Waite.

I find the Rider Waite can be quite brutal - and I've only been using this new deck for a few days, it doesn't pull its punches but it seems to be very intune with feelings.
And I've always found the Morgan Greer to be very clear and honest.

Ah , the different voices of decks - all give the same message , but in different tones/styles :-) For blunt honesty I like the Hudes , and many say the Thoth is good for a smack upside the head :-) The Spiral is for those who like a bit of sugar to help the pill go down . The Connolly offers a slightly different viewpoint which makes you think . The Gilded offers extra hints . The RWS is honest but tactful . The Whimsical offers a slant that makes some querents go "Aha ! I *see*!" The New Vision offers a "wow , never thought of that aspect" . The Russian Tarot of St.Petersburg tells you you to get glasses to see the message at all LOL ......

I also find the deck with which you have developed the strongest relationship, that is, used a lot and come to trust, give you the clearest answers. And it almost does not seem to matter what that deck is. Some people get crystal clear answers from decks that to me are like mud for clarity. Sometimes you almost seem to get a flash while using a deck, i.e. really get what the artist intended, and after that the deck you flows out of your hands as you deal and really see what is there.

I can get pretty clear answers from the Fey - each card is wonderfully evocative. It speaks a dream language that that really clicks for me on many different levels.

Thoth is too close for comfort sometimes. I stop using it when it's starts bullying me. :D

The Ancient Egyptian at times gives readings which are literally correct. Stunningly so.. I love this deck.

In addition to what I said earlier, there are some decks that are more my "friends" and reading with them is like taling to an old friend from years past. On the other hand, there are the decks which are somewhat more of an "authority figure." These are the decks to which you go to for hard questions. And yes, then there are the "Big Bad Wolves" the bullies like the Thoth:)

For me, it's the Osho Zen. It always goes straight to the heart of the matter. In fact, my partner usually chooses not to use it to read for her mother. I love my mom-in-law a lot, but it pays to sugar-coat readings for her a bit, and Osho Zen does not.

When I first told some friends on a discussion group that the WOrldTree Tarot was available to try out (at the time you could get a sample reading at Astra's web site) A bunch of them came back complaining of being slapped silly! The readings were too blunt for them!
I find it isn't the deck, it is the reader, I have a rep among other readers for telling it like it is in a reading!

The deck that tells me everything, even if I don't want to hear it would have to be my mini Faerie Deck.

For me, the most "straightforward decks" are my Rider Waite deck and The Indonesian Wayang Tarot deck. However, the later is stronger than the Rider Waite deck. I do not use the Wayang tarot very often, since it's rather "sacred" to me, so I use it on a special occassion only.
I use Rider Waite as well as Mythic Tarot for reading professionally, and also The Golden tarot (by Kat Black).

For me it's the Sakki-Sakki tarot. Such a cute and colorful deck packs a wallop that leaves me reeling at times. In my few readings with the Medieval Scapini, it has also been very brutally honest, although I am still learning to use that deck.

I note it can be with any deck though the decks I use the most for readings &/or have the closest "relationship" with are those that tend smack between the eyes.
They are: RWS, Robin Wood, Old Path, Ancient Egyptian, Chinese, Cosmic Tribe, Tarot for Cats (Major Arcana only deck).
More recently: The Vertigo, Thoth, Grimaud Marseilles & Baroque Bohemian Cats (though not at all proficient with any of these).

Brutal? Well, I agree about the Thoth (though I don't use it much, yet). But if I really want to get to the point, I suppose the Fey really works well for me; however the Dreaming In Colour Deck is also becoming a very accurate one for me.

I'd say that the 3 decks I use the most do this. Probably why I use them to the exclusion of my other decks.
Morgan Greer, World Spirit and lately the DruidCraft.

I just started using the Goddess in the last couple of weeks and I love it. It has been stunningly acurate, but in a 'nice' way. Hanson Roberts is accurate, too, but in a more...grumpy way. :D
