I've just been reading what a good thing trimming the borders did for the Haindl. The borders on the Goddess Tarot have always bothered me, although otherwise I love the deck. The tan color just drabs everything down and makes all the cards look too much alike. I'd like to see the suit colors stand out more, and keep having the urge to clip, but the only modification I've done to a deck so far is to take the nixon-politico-looking child off the World Spirit Sun Card (by means of a computer -- made a whole new card and laminated it.)
Has anyone done away with the borders on the Goddess deck?

I'm just starting on mine, but already it's much more tolerable. I haven't used this deck in a year, at least, but I want to hurry and finish, so I can try these babies out!
Personally, the white border was MUCH more annoying to me than the tan one - you could possibly keep that one and be good. But they're too big for my hands even then, so I'm going all the way down to the pictured borders...
It really does make the cards stand out more. It's like, suddenly there's a story in the card, instead of just a picture (pictures I didn't even notice before, apparently. Since when has the girl in the 8 of Pentacles been painting something?).
ETA: Also, without four borders on the cards, they're MUCH less...overwhelming. And for my own personal preferences, I can now switch Strength and Justice, the way I prefer them. Yay!

I like my Goddess the way it is, and haven't thought about trimming it. But...I just finished trimming the Enchanted. :D Boy, I hated those wide WHITE borders! I was planning on starting a thread on it and posting some scans.
One caveat: this was the first time I'd trimmed a deck, and although the art does look better without borders, if you really love to riffle-shuffle, think carefully. I like riffle-shuffling, but I found that no matter how carefully I trimmed, I wasn't able to achieve enough uniformity on the size to do a riffle shuffle. That's okay, I'll lace shuffle the Enchanted, or manually mix. But now I know I wouldn't want to trim a deck I use a lot, just because I really like being able to riffle it, and the way the deck's sides are silky smooth. :) (hey, I sound like a razor commercial! )

If you put the deck together and tap it on the bottom edge so that longer cards emerge, you can select them and trim a sliver off. Do this on the narrow and long edge multiple times and you can get the sizes absolutely perfect. It takes a careful eye and sharp scissors to take a mere shred off, but it worked great for me. All my trimmed decks (about 7) are absolutely uniform and smooth on the edges.
(But I only trim decks I could replaced if I really needed to.)

Seven!!!
Is there something you havn't told me yet Imagemaker. I can only remember you doing the Haindl and the Rohrig ...
