Hmm- maybe this could go into the crystals & herbs forum..
Here is something helpful:
If there is any yukky energy you want to get rid of, you can hold a crystal and visualize the bad energy migrating into it. Then go rinse the crystal off under water. (Some crystals don't go well with water, so be sure to check.)

Simplicity itself. This is why "witches" have brooms ;) Get yourself a brand new broom and do some kind of little ritual to "bless it." You know, ask the divine powers to bless it, or hold it up to the stars, whatever moves you. Imbue it with power.
Then: You sweep out the bad. Sweep from each corner into the center of whatever room is by the main door, then out the door. Sweep, sweep, sweep.
If you want to add to this, get one of those dried sage bundles that you burn and "smudge" the apartment--that simply means you light the sage, then circle the apartment spreading the cleansing smoke. Most especially waft the sage near the windows--you can form a protective sign (like a pentagram or a cross or a circle with a "stripe" in it, the old "banned" symbol as it were) before each window. Thus, not only will the apartment be cleansed of old/bad energy, but you'll also be protected from any bad energy that might try to slip in.
Keep your new broom by the door or in a closet near the door, as it, too, is a protective emblem.
And just to keep this within Tarot...put out the 9/pentacles or the Hermit or the Empress or the World card to give the right vibe to your home--whatever vibe you want it to have.

Hang an inspiring card someplace in the house: like the Crowley Thoth Star. Or since this is such a drastic change, maybe Crowley Thoth Death as well.

sage and some incense, a bell, some crystals, and a broom.. some people use salt also.. just depends on how 'witchy' you wanna be :)
There are some great books about this stuff.. Denise Linn (Native American) has some nice ones as well as Dorothy Morrison (Wiccan).. all the suggestions above are great too :)
