We had a party in our salon.
I did a three card Tarot reading, the year in numerology, a paper with the meaning of their name & gave an angel card as a gift with a discount for a reading expires Feb. 25/05.
The three other ladies gave
~hand massage
~hair products
~neck and shoulder massage
~ free gifts, snacks and a draw for a door prize.
We had 17 people on Friday and 27 people Saturday ~ 44 people
I'm posting this because I would like people to believe in their creativity...
~ I knew maybe only half of these people and had only read for a couple of them before
~"MOST" people did not "KNOW" what a reading was or numerology
~"MOST" people were excited to know...
~one lady came to me with her hand raised and said " I'm sorry I'm anti-against cards" I said, "that's fine it's not for everyone but would you like the paper I have ready for you that tells you what your name means" yes she said and then " Would you like to take an angel card with you?" She pick one and read the affirmation and said "o.k. thanks" (1 out of 44)
~ I could brush up on my skill but 43 people were amazed with their three card reading, (I was right on or next to being right on) and the year thing was a hit! (15 mins. went fast for the readings)
~ one lady her face went red and she said "this is scary, I don't think I'll be back" as she was laughing. ( I knew I was right on there) lol

Thanks very much for sharing a wonderful experience! & kudos for having the courage to do so.
That ought to act as positive affirmation for the Tarot endeavours & "free" publicity for your skills.

I love stories like this.
So Ros, (hee hee hee)...why do you read Tarot (for other people)?

Forgot to add I got three bookings for readings on the Saturday.
***Don't be afraid and step up to the plate!***
I did the Numerology first, Tarot reading and then let them pick an Angel Card.
The numbers, reading and the Angel Card all connected together in
most of the cases. I was even surprised at what was happening.

Umbrae~
Yes I'm wondering now, why I do read!
I thought at first to find "my" own answers and then to "help" others find their
answers and now it's...
I don't know. I think it's getting wierd!

RWS
I took a few decks and put them on display. When it was over I looked
over at my Gilded Tarot which I have never read with and you know what
I thought...

Ummm, you thought the Gilded was to gorgeous to read with? That the RWS is so darn useful for real-life questions that you really don't need any others? What? What did you think? :)

Thank you for sharing this story, ros!!
I have been asked to set up at my "salon" where I get my hair done...they, too, have massage, facials, makeup, boutique.
I have been telling fewer people I read, since, once I started, word got around and people started coming to me asking for readings...which I really like.
So, now, that I am retired and don't want to WORK too much right now, I am catching up on my "promised readings," maybe a couple a week...I did two in the last few days...one hour readings...and have two more people waiting.
My masseuse had a reading from me last fall...as a "tip."
She's an amazing masseuse with training in a number of techniques.
Now, she wants to set up an appointment for a full reading at my office. She has someone in New York City she has gone to for full readings....very expensive..like $175 an hour. I charge much less, $50 a half hour, if I have to travel...$40 a half hour if they come to my home. This is the average for readings here.
At psychic fairs, it is usually $25 for 15 minutes. I don't read at fairs, but had one done last year.
I, too, tell people about AT. My flyer has a link to it at the bottom. We have an amazing community, don't we?
I am so happy for you...It is a loving process, the interaction.

It never ceases to amaze me how exspensive readings are in the US, maybe I'll move there.....

Temperance Angel... trmgrl and the other psychic are in NY and NYC respectively. Here, they range from 10 USD to 25 USD. It really depends on where you are in the states.

True about ranges of costs from state to state and area to area. The New York Metropolitan area is also very high cost of living.
Property taxes on an "ordinary" house like ours run over $10,000 a year...My friend has a small apartment in the city and a house on Long Island. Hers are $44,000 a year
(US $). Even car insurance is outrageous. I have a 14 year old Toyota with no collision coverage and it costs $1500 a year. It's not unusual for people to pay thousands for car insurance alone.
So services are also high...a two hour house cleaning by two people just cost me $120...if you have it done regularly it drops to $85.00 for two hours....Certainly, we shop around for "bargains" in everything, but services, insurances, home costs are fixed and high.
Many pensioners move out of state from New York since they can no longer afford to live here. I love it here...but we have always charged for things in line with going price.
So my fees for readings are on the low end.
I paid $60 a half hour for the reading with the psychic I like here on Long Island. My $40 a half hour at home is within range.
It does seem high, though. I remember thinking that when I moved here from Chicago 28 years ago...even Chicago wasn't in that range.
