Heya, Gang!
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum or not for these questions -- I invite the moderators to move it elsewhere if deemed appropriate.
Now that my children are getting a little older, and I have a bit more flexibility in my schedule, I'm really itching to go out and do more "live" shows for Tarot Garden. However, I've had some difficulty in getting many of the people I've talked to about their events to respond with information about dates and venues when the time comes.
But, I recently received an email from a group in Fairview Heights, IL (near St. Louis) with information on a pagan/new age music event, inviting me to purchase a vendor's table. The problem is, as much as I'd love to attend, I'm not sure that there will be enough "warm bodies" there with interest in tarot to make the trip even a break-even proposition for me. And as much as I'd love to set up a vendor table "just for the fun of it," it's just not financially feasible for me to go unless I can be confident of a certain level of sales.
My best estimate, after corresponding with some of the organizers, is that this event will draw about 200 people. But based on my past experience, I need to feel reasonably confident that any event within a 500 mile radius of where I'm at (Des Moines, IA -- heart of the U.S. Midwest) would have at least 500 attendees, and at least 1,000 attendees if I go outside that radius. (Although for tarot-focused events, the attendence would only have to be about half of those numbers.)
So, my questions are:
1) If I were to attend this event in Fairview Heights, are there enough Aeclectic members in the St. Louis area that would be interested in making the trip over, if for no other reason just to do some "live" tarot shopping? The event runs from April 8 - 10 (2005), and the website with the event info is: http://www.spiritawaken.org/index.html
2) If any of you out there are involved with events that include a vendor's venue, with anticipated attendence within the parameters I've outlined above, will you please put me on your mailing list (electronic and/or hardcopy)? Our contact info can be found on the Tarot Garden website, or you can PM me if you want me to send you the details directly.
TIA,
-- Jeannette

Come to Heartland Pagan Festival in Kansas City. There will be about 1300 people!!! They almost maxed out last year, and they are expected to this year. It's over Memorial Day weekend.

That would be soooo cool!!! Well...for me anyway. :D

Arrrrggggh! I can't go, even though I'll already be "in the neighborhood." My husband and I were invited as the Fan GoHs at ConQuest this year -- in Kansas City, over Memorial Day weekend. But they're supposed to give me a free table at ConQuest, at any rate...
Thanks for the link. i'll check it out, and see if I can get on their mailing list for next year.

Ok...how about this one then...
The website sucks...I'll just warn you. www.prskc.org. Personally I would call them. They are good about sending info once you are on the mailing list, especially if you want to be a vendor.
They do 2 psychic fairs a year...both usually well attended (not exactly sure how many, but have heard about 800 for the weekend) One is end of April, and the other is end of October.
I just want some cool stuff in my town for a change! Is that too much to ask??? Maybe I need to move. *sigh*

Octobers are always filled to the brim with activities and commitments for me, but Aprils might be do-able. I've sent the PRS an email, requesting contact info for whoever is in charge of compiling their vendor mailing list.
Sidenote re: Octobers: Dan and I have begun to make it a habit to have a vendor table at Archon, which is the big annual SF convention in St. Louis. They get about 1,000 people attending each year, enough of whom have at least a peripheral interest in tarot to make it a break-even proposition for both of us to be there. But with Kansas City being only about a 3.5 hour drive from where I'm at, I'm just chompin' at the bit to find some excuse to bring a few goodies down your way, too, souljourney!
Thanks!
