In three words...

If you would only be allowed to use 3 words to describe Tarot, which ones would you use? (as 3 is a very small space, please feel free to stretch your essay up to 7)

:)

It's a PDA.

Tsuzuki: Sounds like you need to hop over to psychic sue's thread on human behavior (which I confess to possibly having pulled off-topic just a wee bit...)

Can't. I'm not a subscriber.

Jeannette  13 Mar 2005
Oh. Pooh. I'm never sure what the access distinctions are between subscribers and non-subscribers.

Well, it's probably just as well. I got myself in a world of trouble by publicly musing how Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle might apply to tarot readings.

Come to think of it, let's not go there. 'Tis a silly place.

And in any case, I can certainly accept your three-word definition of tarot as an "Acausal Quantum Observatory," despite anything I might have said on that thread. ;)

Can you PM me with the gist of what was said? That's one area that I'm very interested in. If I could, I probably would have been all over that thread. I think I mentioned before that I was into chaos magic.

LOL! The gist? It was kind of me going off in a rambling daisy-chain mess, and ncefafn calling my bluff. :joke:

Well, in that sense, I suppose it might be of interest -- I turned that thread into chaos. Fortunately, it looks as if someone else has swooped in now and gotten it back on track.

BUT -- if you really want to review it, PM me with your email address, and I'll copy it into "normal" email and send it back. It's probably too long and messy to put into a PM and remain readable.

Tools for wisdom?

I'm sure there's a better word than "for," but I can't think of it.

Jeannette  14 Mar 2005
Tools for wisdom -- sounds good to me. Very apt.

Doors to Fantasy -- it's too common, can't get laughter.
Doors to Bankruptcy -- it's too serious for some members, can't get laughter.
Doors to Summer -- too vague and meaningless.

okay, forget the doors. Instead, the cards (of course!)

Cards to Bankruptcy -- too realistic...

I recall another thread some time back in which we strove to characterise Tarot in 25 words or less, and that in itself was a struggle... so three? Now there's a challenge that is such a wonderful thread to read through!

...seems like the best have already been suggested, too!

So how about:
religare via imaginatio
(and apologies for the poor grammatical structure - not sure if the first word should have a specific suffix)

In more prosaic terms,
Rebinding oneself to the spiritual realms through the developing factulty of Imagination
