Last night I had a wonderful moment during a tarot reading that I was working on for a Circle of Three exchange.
I drew the cards, laid them out, looked at them...and realized that I understood the cards! For the very first time, I was able to simply "read" what was in front of me, without having to spend a lot of time puzzling over the cards, then checking my Rachel Pollack book to make sure I wasn't straying too far away from the usual meanings.
I remember being four years old and learning to read books, and how excited I was...I wanted to tell everyone that I could read. And now I feel that way again...I want to tell everyone that I can read tarot cards!
Anyone else remember having a "moment" in which you realized that you were finally able to read tarot cards without checking a book?

Yes I have. I have recently recieved a new deck, unfortunately there was no lwb with it. My New Deck Spread told me that I would learn a new way to read cards. I have been skeptical of using them, for others because the readings I have done for myself, did not at all match the rws deck I have had for years. But, the last two times I have used it, poof there were the meanings I was looking for.

Wow, Annebelle, that is so cool. I'm not there yet, but I've caught glimpses of that feeling, when the cards just make SO much sense that I am making connections all over the place. So awesome.

:D yay - wonderful!
and one day you will realise that straying from the usual meanings ain't a problem ;) but enrich the way you read your cards
My own breakthrough came when I decided to forget all the card meanings and learned to look at the picture and let myself be inspired by it.
Now, sometimes people look up my readings in their LWB and astonish me by telling me I matched the book ;)

That feeling is great! when that happened to me I felt like the "Tarot" was already inside me, after that studying became much easy and less stressful.
