deck dissapointed about relationship

Hi!

Some days ago I asked my deck what she (somehow i think it is a lady) thinks about our "relationship" (owner-deck). She "told" me that she was dissapointed or un happy. I think is because all day I keep her in my backpack and only ask her for help in the night for readings. Also I think is because I only ask about myself (I want to get some experience, before do readings for others).

Does anyone had troubles like this one? I had read a thread similar to this, however my situation isnt that bad, and I want to solved before anything happened. Some tips will help a lot.

thanks!
Blessings

I think that your deck may have some growing up to do. It's not all about her. Especially if she's going to give advice about things other than her.

As well, your deck should be understanding about you, about your stage in tarot, and about your approaches to tarot.

Please read the other threads about decks who are angry, decks who are jealous, decks who don't like you... please. Then read the thread about the deck who is happy. I'm about to start a thread..."My decks think I'm boring and yawn." Are they really? No, but I am and I'm tired and it's time for a break.

Tarot triggers something inside of us... the images stimulate something in our brains called imagination and help us see things from another perspective, the symbols give us clues at what meanings to derive from these images so that we can relate it to something going on in our lives. I think it's sort of tricking our brain to think about things we don't want to or when we lock ourselves in a way of looking at our lives, our selves and our place in the world. If your deck is disappointed, perhaps it isn't the deck at all.

Please think about this. You are the one with feelings, not a deck of cards, you give them meaning, you came up with this interpretation yourself from your reading, ok? Maybe you are disappointed with your progress, but that does not mean your cards feel anything. The first year I did Tarot I never read for anyone besides myself... it's hard to read for yourself because it's hard to be objective, luckily I had a very good freind who would look at my readings and then give me her take on them and her take always opened my eyes to something I hadn't thought of at all. I might have given it up because I always tended to look at the negative and think my world was coming to an end, she helped me learn a lot and see things much more clearly.

If you have readings you don't understand or they seem to say something like this, post it in the Your Readings section, maybe you will discover another message from those very same cards from other readers. It is a great way to learn and when you feel you want to learn even more, go to the Reading Exchange and try that. It was scary to begin with but it really, really helped me become a better reader and learn so much.

Thank you, Waleswoman, you said that excellently :) . I TOTALLY second your post. Antharias, please use your common sense: decks can't be unhappy or disappointed - PLEASE don't confuse inanimate objects with living beings.

I think it is easy to feel that we have an intimate relationship with our cards since they evoke such strong emotions in us, but I must agree with others here, that a deck of cards is after all simply pieces of paper with pretty pictures on them...the magic of Tarot is what we ourselves apply in the process of reading.

Sometimes I feel as if I can't relate to a specific deck I have, as if the readings are all coming out wrong and incoherent,- it would be tempting to blame the deck and say it was defying me or misbehaving,- yet, let's keep in mind that the cards do in fact not have a life of their own. They don't form opinions about us as readers. They don't judge. They merely reflect my thoughts and feelings at a particular point in time,- today a specific card might mean one thing, drawing the same card tomorrow it might mean something else entirely. It all depends on what I bring to the reading. The cards are a wonderful tool to unlock the complex mysteries of the mind, but that's all it is,- a tool. The life and soul of the cards is what we pour into them.

So I would suggest that you look at what the cards are saying,- the message there is one from you to you, so to speak....;)

Blessings and best of luck.

Again, I agree with the latter posts of this thread. They aren't 'alive' in the sense of breathing eating emotion. It reflects you so if you get that vibe from the cards, maybe it's you. Also to mention energy for a second. Putting your cards out in the sun might not be so bad either since the sun is a major energy source. As a question, why do you keep it in a backpack all day and not a wooden box or some cloth wrapped up? Your deck might be getting a lot of negative energy out side with all those people so you should think about that.

Again, cards aren't living.

Hahaha. On the contrary, I think it's an interesting learning experience to (at least partially) believe that your deck has feelings. It might be your unconcious mind working through the cards (yet again!) and trying to tell you something about the way you treat the cards. It may not be the cards, as if they are alive, telling you these things... but your own mind trying to contact you and talk to you about your deck, through the deck itself.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I say, go for it! Just, you know, don't go over your head and start dressing your deck up in doll's clothes or something... that could get a bit freaky...

Hi!

Im newbie on this, so I thought that the cards had "conscience", but definetly im NOT goind to start dressing my deck (like Fairawen said). I thought that, because I read that crystals like quartz had some sort of "memory" to help to cleanse the deck and other things.

In your opinion: What answered me?

- My own Subcounscious?
- Some sort of energies around?

BTW I have my deck in my backpack BUT in a little bag I made (as soon I get a camera I will upload the pics in the correct thread), however I dont take them out because the way of thinking in this country (they still think that tarot is devils stuff), at least not until I get more prepared.

Antharias,

What were you feeling when you asked the question and did the reading? I've been feeling really off myself lately and noticed that my readings didn't make sense because of my attitudes and am taking a bit of a break this week. So I'm betting if I asked my cards, any of them what they thought of our relationship, they probably wouldn't be very excited or clear either. I haven't tried asking... they would just look like pictures on paper today.

Sometimes it's like that...and I'm not a newbie. I'm just feeling very burnt out all around and it's reflected in my readings...ones I've done and ones others did for me.

If you are beginning to learn Tarot don't be too hard on yourself, give yourself lots of time and patience and practice, it will come. Do post your spreads in "Your Readings", do go to the Study Groups, Using Tarot Cards and RWS study in Tarot History. Those are invaluable to help you understand your cards, gain new insights and lots of help and support from others and develop confindence in your abilities. You may not notice the improvement over night, but it will come. :)
