Ive not used my cards in a long time...theyve been wrapped up and in a drawer, no one else has touched them at all...Id like to get them out and start learning again....is there anything "special" i need to do with or to them after being not used for awhile? And, someone told me i should not read them while im pregnant...Is this true and what are is your advice, opinions or suggestions concerning this?

As far as I am aware, there is absolutely nothing you need to do to your cards to start working with them again ... unless, of course, you want to. A few good shuffles should be enough to get them springing into action, but maybe, if you felt it might help, setting the scene with a few candles and some incense, might be a nice way to greet them back into your life.
Wasn't completely sure what you meant about 'pregnancy' and the tarot. Did the friend suggest you shouldn't read when pregnant? I have never head anything like this before and can assure you that reading tarot cards will have no ill effects on your pregnancy - it may even be a good way to relax and keep you calm. If your friend advised you TO read while pregnant, as before, I have never heard anything along those lines either, but go ahead, if it works for you.

You're welcome Twisti ... there are so many of those kind of superstitions around the tarot - sleeping with them under your pillow, doing this with them and not doing that - the longer you stick around here, many of those kind of cobwebs will be blown away. Of course, if you want to sleep with your deck and you get some kind of connection with it for doing so, then that is great. However, it is not mentioned in the Tarot Rule Book, because such a book does not exist. We do what feels right for us. Hope that helps some. If you are pregnant right now, I wish you all the best with your pregnancy, and aslo, with your new journey in tarot.

Hi Twisti
I have never heard of any ill effects of reading the tarot while pregnant ,and used my cards while I was pregnant the only thing I would be wary of would be reading for myself with all those hormones and extra sensitivity keeping rational can be a little more challenging , from a personal point of view :)

Well unwrapping the cards may be an idea to start using them again ;) :) Aside from that I can't think of anything. As for reading while pregnant I am not really sure as have never heard anything for or against it but I have had people say not to read *ahem* during monthly female cycles but have personally found no problem with it so I guess it's each to their own.

Hi Twisti,
I don't want to repeat everything that's allready said.
But want to let you know I'm pregnant myself and find that if you're feeling comfertable you can read the cards whenever you want.
At some times you may only think about baby things.
But if you can part from this during a reading you'll do just fine.
You may even get more sencible and get more out of a reading during the pregnancy.
Hope this helps and I wish you a lot of happy times with the pregnancy.
Love and light
