Not exactly sure what it means you are looking for ....
Check a quilter's fabric store, if there is one in your area. Most of them I have been in carry astounding arrays of baticks and other cottons, many with atrological or celestial themes.
As far as 'starry' fabrics go, although you can luck out at any time of year, the best time to find 'appropriate' fabrics is late July/August when the 'Halloween' stuff comes out. What you really need is a fabric store, not a fabrics and crafts store ... if such things still exist.
I found a hysterical flannel with astrological signs and teapots on eBay! One never knows!

Lets see this is going back in time for me. Try the walmarts and targets for fabric. ALso Joanns you have a yellow pages so check in there for fabric stores under sewing. If you know of a sewing store they will be able to tell you where to get fabric cheap. Quilt will be more expensive but just might have what you want.
DO a search also there are some tarot cloths threads on here. They have fabric recomendations and such.
Good Luck

I just go round charity shops looking for silk scarves. They usually only cost a quid or so, and can be very pretty.
I got one once that was amazing knot work all over, beautiful.
And they are ready hemmed! No sewing!
if you have a bit of fabric, and you can't be bothered to hem it, fringe the edges by pulling out about half an inch to an inch of the threads that run parallel to the edge.
A darning needle can help you pull them free.
There seems to be a knack to it with some fabrics, but most are easy enough once you get the hang of it.
Or get some plain cotton and use fabric paints, pens or dyes.
That can be really nice, and very personal to you.

I bought an 24" unfinished round wooden board
and use different fabrics as the cloth table top.
I've cut the fabric in a 36" dia. large circle and
then sewn elastic around the outer edge which
makes them like a big shower cap, but they fit.
I have stars and leaves and roses and paisley...
whichever fits my mood and/or the daily deck! ;)

something about the idea of a big shower cap.......lol It really is kind of funny if you think about it,
but I place the board on a little "Lazy Susan"
turntable and when you have it like that on a
stand... the whole thing is delightfully pretty!

I don't have the fabric with me - it's in my house two states' away - but I recall that the selvedge edge did say 'JoAnn's Fabrics' in it, so if there is a JoAnne's near you, check in the flannel section.

It would be perfect to make a gift basket with that...have a spread cloth using the material folded up with a matching ribbon of some sort...a tea cup, several packages of different type of tea........

I have no idea how old the fabric might be, but check at JoAnn's. I bought it off eBay, the seller was 'purpleuniform' (all one word.) You might do a search on ebay and see what else she is selling, or if she still has some. It was sold as 'fat quarters', so one could (frugally) cut four knapkins out of it. I plan on using mine as a background -should I ever get a curio cabinet in which to display my tea leaf reading cups and mustache cup collections.

That zodiac tea fabric is wonderful!
I mostly hang around people and end up getting fabric and other crafts handed to me when people get tired of having them around. Of course, there are always garage sales too. But then again, I just love garage sales!

I am not joking either. After this thread I went on a fabric hunt so I could do my own tarot cloth. Now I am in a new state and a new area of the stateso had to ask around a bit. I did find a Joanns and it cost me money. LOL ;)
What I found though was real neat. A purple fabric with black felt like half moon and stars on it. I thinking of doing this as a two sided cloth. The other side to be just black. I bought enough for at least two cloths and a couple of bags. I way overestimated how much I needed. So what I am doing is making one large cloth like 40" square and one smaller cloth 20"square and two or three bags maybe. That will use all my fabric. I bought 2 yards of each.
Now I just have to figure what stich I want to use for the edge. I am lucky my grandmother taught me how to sew by hand. I have hand sewing machines in the past but none right now.
Bladeraven it is all your fault. Thank you.

I am sewing the edges of each cloth first then sewing them together. Reason is it will give weight to the edges. Do not know if I will put a edging on or not.
If you are not good at sewing here are some ideas that might help you out. You can glue the edges or use sewing hemming tape and a iron that will seal the edges. Go to your local sewing store they will have what you need. I know there are a few more ways to seal edges without sewing but I can not remember them. Your sewing store will have all that information for you.

It makes more sense to sew the edges then sew them together..when you edge them...are they ontop of the stiches?? ..did that even make sense??

No because when I do it they will be on the new edges I created. The stiches will be below the new edge line. Or you can make it past the edge line depending on how much fabric you want in your edge. I plan on turing in inside out when I have 3 edges done then doing the last edge. This last edge will be noticable but only up close. Now if I put some kind of edging material in then I would do that between the two fabrics before I put them together.

Of course, I own two sergers, so I would finish the edges with a rolled satin stitch hem.
***dodging brickbats and straight pins tossed by others! ***
One thing you might try - which I have also done successfully - get the fabric perfectly square. Cut a piece of thin cardboard about 10 inches long and 1 inch wide. Use the cardboard guide to fold the edge of the fabric over and press (that means push the iron down, not drag it back and forth) each side. (ignore the corners for a moment) when you have them all pressed, fold the cut edge to the inside and press again, making a straight one-half inch hem all around. Open the hems flat at the corners. Fold the corner back on itself at a 45 degree angle and press again. Refold the hems and see the nice mitred corner? Trim off the excess fabric at the corner; you don't need it.
Now you can use one of those fancy embroidery stiches that is built into you machine and have never used to sew the edge down - or hand embroider it with a decorative embroidery stitch. I used silver thread to hem a fabric that was blues, greys and a touch of purple spatters ... but then - you know I never do anything simply when there is a more complicated way to do it! :smoker: {I used to bead fringes on velvet scarves ...} You can see some of the stitching and the fabric if I can get this picture attached .... NO! There is NO MORE of this fabric anywhere!!!!! LOL!!!

(dodging hat pin) Ow! OW! OW!
Eight years ago when I was working at House of Fabrics, home embropidery machines were still in their infancy ... they came a long way fast! Never had a desire for one since they could not do the type of embroidery I wanted them to - something like greek keyes around a hem or something.
I had (at one point - no longer) 4 or 6 sewing machines of different types and vintages, two sergers, and a blind hemmer. Still own two machines, two sergers, and one blind hemmer that has never worked well after I threw it out of timing even though I had it reset by the company.
Sometimes I miss doing the beaded fringes on velvet scarves .... And a beaded fringe on a reading cloth would be TOO gay! :smoker:
