This is certainly a first for me..
I was using the Robin Wood deck and drew the emperor as the first card in a layout I won't go into any more detail on since the rest holds a lot less interest.
Something about the way that Aries-head popped out so visibly on the left side of the chair got my attention, interpreting the card as meaning;
"Someone will show up, rather surprisingly and it will set you off balance. The surprise and rather blunt entrance isn't ill meant though."
And now, at the end of the month she reports that the only person popping up out of nowhere is the baby she found out she's pregnant with. Who'd have guessed that from the emperor?!?
Looking at the card now though, it is pretty loaded with phallic symbolism and with that little aries-head-susp-decor.. And the hidden indicated aries-head that he's holding under the cover of his mantle on the other armrest.
So, what was the point of this post?
Well, I guess to see if someone else has also found an odd interpretation of a card. I know that there are bunches of options, but I must admit that I never quite managed to associate the Emperor with pregnancy before. Even with the occational fishies and phallic symbolism involved in various decks.

I've had the Five of Pentacles mean a person's mother was a nag before!
I was using the Quest Tarot and doing a reading. It was a deep, psychological sort of reading, my absolute favorite kind! It delved into childhood, your parents, all that stuff that makes people cringe.
In the spot for the sitter's mother, who died 10 years ago, was the Five of Pentacles (can't remember what they're called in the Quest, don't have it anymore.) I was looking at the card and there was this blob of metallic color. I said "What's that?" and looked and looked, picked the card up and looked closer and then shouted "Bugs! It's bugs! This card has bugs! You're mom was constantly on your case!...." and it went on from there.
It was quite interesting, but apparently quite accurate and explained to him a lot of why he felt like a failure!

That is cool, Eco. Here's mine.
I was doing a spread about my manic depression--it had seemed much worse for the past few months, and I was contemplating talking to my psychiatrist about it. I don't remember the entire spread, but I recall vividly that I drew the Four of Cups in the "Situation" position. I was using the Victoria Regina deck, and that card is depicted as a woman standing in the middle of four large Mason jars, as tall or taller than she herself. For some reason, I saw them immediately as medicine bottles, rising up and overwhelming this person. I thought, "I need to have my dosages checked," and I was right. I talked to my doctor, cut down on one medication and things improved immensely.
I've found that that reading really added a dimension to my understanding of the Cups.

it may indicate possibly that the mother will be the only parent and hence she will have to be both emperess and emperor.
is that possible?
also logically ,,if people copulate without any birth control logics says there is a good chance that they will get pregant if both are healthy people.
so the emperor may of been warning here to use her head.. unless the reading came after the conception.
edited to add
and sometimes birth control fails for my brother was concieved when my mom was on the pill.

Oh dear, that is an aspect I hadn't though of Holmes..
The baby was planned but was concieved sooner than expected and there have been some problems in the relationship since the first baby arrived. But things have been improving over the last 7-8 months since.
I hope it won't turn around for the worse again, though the card did generate a calm feeling in general. Aside from the surprise pop-up-person..
Maybe the father in question has found his way back for good with this. Or atleast in a more solid way than before.. That still seems strange though since the reading was for the mother-to-be.
On the other hand. Things in the relationship and with the mother-to-be's personal development are getting more under control, it was an otherwise calm month and things were going really smoothly (like under the rein of a good and kind emperor) and *pop*, there was that little ramshead jumping out to surprise the heck out of that controlled demeanor of the emperor..

Eco74: That is a prime example of an intuitive interpretation; outside of the box!
Could mean "the issue" (the baby) is a boy. A chip off the old block; to be more like the father in temperament.
