hello!
I am a newbie on Tarot readings and I have a big doubt and maybe you can inligh me...
well... if I read the cards to myself asking if my wish is going to come true... can my desire and will have any influence on the reading?
(I just saw I should post this thread somewhere else...but could not delete it...
sorry...)

In a word: yes. So what you do is use the book that comes with your deck. Read what it means and see if that is a yes or no. That way you can't fudge on what the meaning of the card is. Then focus your desire and will on getting what you want, instead of getting the cards to tell you that you will get it.

I've been doing Tarot for a year and a month now, and I have only read for myself. I have had very accurate answers all along.
It can work, but you have to take a bit more care especially in the beginning. First of all, know that this is a potential problem. It takes a certain detachment to get accurate answers in a situation you care about.
Especially in the beginning and until you are sure you have developed that amouint of detachment, be wary of your answers. If you get an answer you really want, stop and look carefully at the card and really think if there is a different way to view it. Leave it out for a few days if you need to and come back to it. It may be that your initial answer was right, it may be that you influenced it with your desires.
In the end, you before you read for yourself on any issue you care about, you need to be sure in your head why you are doing the reading. If you are doing it just to hear what you want to hear, don't read for yourself.
If your objective is to have the tools you need to make the most of your situation.... And when you are sure you are ready to hear whatever the cards say whether positive or negative....
And when you are sure you really and sincerely want to know the negative things so you have the tools you need to improve any situation, when you can see them as a true gift in your life that show you the path to happiness and fulfillment....then you ought to be ready to read for yourself on any issue.
Wishing you the best with all your readings,
Bar

Hello Lindemann,
I'm new to tarot as well, and this has been a question for me, too. I've certainly noticed that my hopes and fears do affect the way I interpret cards, and I think sometimes even the cards I choose. I find personally that when calling forward my inner guide and spirit guides into the reading, the answers can come more objectively and clearly.
I agree with Bar that it's important to know why you are doing the reading. If I already know what I want to happen, I avoid asking prediction questions, because I'd rather try to manifest the answer. In these situations, I ask more for advice in obtaining my goal. This is the part I'm still working on...
That's when it's great to have a journal and document the answers, so later, when you know the outcome you can understand what they were trying to say.
Blessings, Maria

Yup.
Especially if it's a wish that you're not sure how to go after (or something that has to come to you without you having to do anything). The future is not fixed, especially around people, and you're asking the poor cards to go beyond their job. So they pick up on "tell me something that will make me feel good about this", and lo! all your wishes will come true.
You can ask "will this be possible in the next six months?", or "what steps can I take to make it more likely that this will happen?", or any other question that says "I want to build a path from here and now toward THIS future - how do I start", and you'll likely get a solid answer.

thank you for helping me :)
it has been lovely to learn with you all... thank you a lot...
I usualy use this 5 cards spread when I make a question... there is shown the present issue, its obstacles, the past, the future and the outcome... and
it has been frequent for me to focus on my wish and then I ask if it is going to come true. Usualy the cards mean yes... I really try not to WISH for the cards, I simply quastion it... but I am scared about the answers being true, because I really, really believe Tarot...

I really really believe Tarot answers are true also. :-)
But that is nothing to be afraid of. Tarot is a tool to help you create everything you want in your life. Yes the answers Tarot gives you are true but they can still be changed. They are not the only way the situation could turn out. The answers you get in a reading are only the answers of what will happen if everything continutes to go in the way it is now. Anything you change in the situation can change your answer.
So if you get an answer you don't like you can do another reading to see what you can change in the situation to get to the future you want for yourself. And then you can change it. At that point you can do another reading to see the future, and hopefully it will have changed to the one you want. If not, start again.:-)
It's something it took me a while to understand when I started learning, but there are not bad/negative answers in Tarot. They are all like good friends, there to give you the help you need to succeed.:-)
