The Thoth Tarot consists of the following cards:
The Major arcana cards signified by Air symbols
.The Fool
etc.
I understand the ED's. Also the planets with the Major Cards.
I always thought The Fool was Spirit or a Void, so no element or planet. This is the only card that I use as this. An open door or window in a situation.
I don't even know how I came to this conclusion so I may be way off
here also.
I was just wondering why The Fool was considered an Air element.
Could someone explain this to me...please!

One reason is that The Fool is associated with the planet Uranus in many tarot systems, and the planet Uranus rules the sign Aquarius, an Air sign, in some astrology systems (in other systems, Saturn rules Aquarius and Uranus is not used at all).
As to why The Fool would be associated with Uranus... well, it is the planet of change and upheaval, sort of an "unknown quantity" in a way -- anything can happen, something unexpected, etc.

Ros,
While there are lots of correspondences and folks who will tell you that X absolutely corresponds to Y, the best correspondences are the ones that work for you.
I have generally associated The Fool with Air, Aleph and Breath, but that is not the only way.
I really like what you said about "The Fool being Spirit or Void ... an open door or window in a situation." I also like that in assigning no element or planet to the Fool, it becomes the wild card that it really is ... the Joker of the pack.
