What if you lose a couple of your Tarot cards? Is your deck useless? Or can u still use it. I have a couple of cards missing in one of my decks, and it still seems to work fine. I just want to know if u should get a new deck for better quality.

Hi!!
For me each and every card has a different-special meaning so i'd probably not be able to use my deck if a couple of the cards were missing..yet if you feel ok with it and if it's working well for you i wouldn't go buy a new deck afterall i think there are no strict rules of using tarot; and tarot is a tool and if your tool is working fine then everything's fine..

Hi Siamese_Moths,
Which deck is it? Maybe you could write off to the publishers and get replacement cards.
I'm not sure that I could use a deck that has cards missing - they might be vital cards - but this is only me. But as you say you have no problem with it and its working for you. :)

I think for a while it would be ok, but I would eventually buy a new deck. If you don't feel the need, that is fine. I thinks the cards will always find a way to tell you what you need to know.

Siamese_Moths: Welcome to Aeclectic Tarot!
Agree with Emily's suggestion to contact the deck publisher for possible replacement cards.
It may depend on the deck publisher & its means of contact. It was difficult to locate a contact for the Mythic Tarot. I received no response from its publisher regarding replacement of damaged cards (from using a rubberband that melted on the deck), & for which I offered payment. Eventually, I was able to find a replacement deck via the Tarot Trading Forum.
I lost a few cards from the Robin Wood deck & contacted its creator, Robin Wood herself who graciously replaced the missing cards. & for only a self-addressed stamped (with postage affixed) envelope.

Just a suggestion . . . if getting replacement cards doesn't work out for you, and if you don't want to buy a new copy of the deck, then do you still have any of the extra cards (title card, card that lists all the other decks the company makes, etc.) that came with the deck? You could just write the names of the missing cards on those spares and use them in the deck.

I hate working with a short deck! I have once or twice inadvertently left a card in the box and missed it. I would do readings, and say to myself: the ........ card should be here but it isn't. And sure enough at the end of the night, that was the missing card. I too would follow the others advice: write/e-mail to the publisher or buy a new copy. I have a Robin Wood that is missing a few cards, I use it to replace other cards that get lost from other copies (since I worked one venue, in Downtown Chicago in the OPEN that blew away one card EVERY year-several years in a row!)
And now for the joke, since I simply can't resist: Many people think we are not working with a full deck anyway, but lets not prove them right! :|

I agree with the others that have said to write to the publishers and request replacement cards or to get a new deck. I think all the cards are there for a reason and therefore to remove cards you could be removing some vital elements of a spread. And then there are the cards that just seem to never come up....................................................................
