After a reading, how do you feel?
Usually after a long or heavy reading (esp if intuitive), I feel highly sensitive to things, such as words and energy i guess. I also am usually hungry. Does anyone else have any post reading symptoms?
I have heard that reading without eating before helps you become more intuitive because the food does not "weigh you down" so to speak. Comparable to grounding yourself by eating.

That would make sense. In Chinese medicine the Stomach and Spleen (which is a considered a digestive organ and partner to the Stomach) are the Earth element organs. They also govern the structure of your body, so eating is all about earth energy.
The Earth organs are responsible for "digesting" thought (as in study) as well as food so they would not be great organs to use for tarot reading IMO. It might even be an idea to avoid foods like meat before reading, in preferance to fruits etc..
I wonder what organs would relate to prophesy...??? Heart is the emotional mind and Fire organ, that would be my first guess. Or maybe the Liver, as it governs sight, as well as planning which relates to the future.... Mmmm, I want to read up on that now!
After reading I feel sleepy. Sometimes I will do a reading in bed, then roll over and go to sleep :D Hopefully having put the cards away first so I don't wake up with them attached to my face...

Hmm I can feel a little tired and caught in my own thoughts. I don't appreciate talking right after ´cause it mostly leads to me going "Whaaat?"...:D

Rainwolf: Usually after a reading, I am thirsty &/or hungry; tired. It varies in intensity.
I can see that concept to apparently apply for me. That is, I find I read better before or without a meal. I drink a lot of water before & during a reading or I get dehydrated quickly. Chamomile tea is good for this, too. It is a natural calmative & seems to contribute to receptivity.

Similia: As far as I know, the thyroid gland located in the throat area is related to communications & clairvoyance.
Many years ago, I read of a psychic who had a tumor removed from her thyroid. She "lost" her ability afterwards.

That is very interesting! The throid is related to the throat chakra, and so with communication or "speaking out". I've never heard of it related to receiving before though. Usually that goes with the brow chakra and the pineal gland. (But my understanding of that system is very limited)
Of course neither of those glands or the chakras are considered in classical Chinese Medicine. Communications as in speach goes with the Lungs, which as a metal element are about building bonds. But receiving is more about the Kidneys (water and recieving) and the Heart (fire and the desire to communicate). I can't remember ever hearing anything about psychic gifts in Chinese terms. My only experience in the area is treating someone for "out of body" like sensations with a channel based therapy.
I'd love to know if anyone can point me towards some material on the topic.
There some really interesting stuff on organ removal and the effects on people's personalities. Some great stuff on people becoming timid after removing gallbladders, or about post-operative depression being reduced by limiting the time a heart is packed in ice etc... I find the topic engrossing.
Sorry highjack your thread RW :|

I've had two incidents where a reading has drained me for days...I don't think I grounded myself properly though and the experience was not too pleasant. The chills and total lack of energy can not be described. I don't do anything special before or after a reading in regards to eating or drinking...besides the two readings mentioned, I don't usually have a problem. But, I do ground myself quite well now.

**I wonder what organs would relate to prophesy...???**
I think it very well could. The Bible talks a lot about fasting and praying so it would make sense that it could have a lot to do with prophesy. I'm sure the prophets of the Bible fasted.

After a really solid long reading, my immediate response is to find something else to do a reading about, because it feels to good to be "up". It took me a long time to realize that this is the last thing I need to do, because generally it means that I'm trying to avoid coming down from the reading, and this usually means that when I do, I'm going to feel anything from mildly uncomfortable to really hurting, because I just overdid it - again.
I suppose that when I'm reading, I'm in some sort of mild trance that puts everything except the reading at a distance so that it doesn't get in the way - not a bad way to go, except for the reaction afterward.
I do find that the longer I'm in this kind of state, the hungrier I am afterward; but I suspect that it's the body reacting to not being noticed, and making sure it doesn't get shortchanged, since I tend to gain weight if I do too much of this type of work.

Okay now this will sound weird im sure, Its only happened a handful of times but yes after a really heavy reading, I cant speak or understand. Seriously weird I just usualy go laydown. I had one reading where I could bearly get Good bye uttered to my client they can talk but a cant understand them and well I just cant talk! I know three languages and not one of them will compute when I get to this point. As for grounding myself I always do it no differently than any other time. I just feel like maybe I loose my ground and I get overload??? I havent had that happen for a while now so hopefully Im now strong enough to hold my ground! lol

Occasionally after doing readings, I will start to become really tired and drained - and I will feel like withdrawing a bit. Other times I feel quite uplifted - it just depends on who the reading is for and what it relates to I guess. Some people just have draining energies themselves that are easy to pick up on when doing readings.
Now that I think about it - I usually dohave something to eat after a reading - or a few hours before - never right before - unless it's just a really small snack. I always make a cup of tea before doing a reading so that I can drink it during
It's interesting to note that the thyroid gland is related to Clairvoyance!
