How do people feel about buying and using second hand tarot decks?I myself at one time wouldnt even go near second hand decks but now i own quite a few with buying them off ebay and amazon etc.

Well, as long as it's not sticky or falling apart, it's all good. ;) I don't have any, but I'm considering buying a few actually. They're much cheaper.

90% of my collection is made up of second hand decks....it never has had any sort of negative vibes associated with, and they all feel like they've always been mine!

I have several and they are fine. It is pretty well the only way to get some decks, and they are less expensive!

Many of my decks second-hand as a more economical alternative to purchasing them new. A couple well-used whence I got them but they still work for reading purposes.

I am careful as to the second-hand sources. Very pleasant experiences exchanging/trading with AT members.

New decks are great, and can often be found
at a bargain. It's always worth looking around.

"Used" decks, the ones that the Universe sends
your way, come to you with their own history.
It's like having an exotic stranger come to visit.
Together at last you can bond in a special way.

I have a few second hand decks, but mostly new ones.
Mainly because there's not a very big market for second hand decks around where I live. There are book-stores with used books, but decks are more difficult to come by.

Sometimes, through gifts and trades and strokes of luck I've run across a few but usually when I'm looking for a specific deck I cave in after a while and order one from one of my "providers". (Online bookstores or Alida as a rule.)

If there was more of a market, and there was a greater selection of used decks available I'd absolutely have more of them though.

Unlike many here, I am still wary of aquiring second hand tarot decks. I think the price of the new decks are reasonable enough, without having to go through the hassle of buying a second hand deck, and then probably finding something wrong with them, or a card or two are missing etc- at least with my current budget I can afford to buy new decks - but also that I did not encounter a second hand tarot deck that I really really wanted to have.

I usually go for newly published decks. Something about these makes my heart miss a beat or two. I may lose interest in this same deck a few weeks along the line .

However, this attitude will not extend to used tarot books as I have quite a few of those in my collection.

Hmmm your location says Sweden, so http://www.tradera.com comes to mind. Ever tried it? There are quite a few decks on there. :)

I don't own any second hand decks but I have nothing against them and if there was a second hand deck that I saw and wanted I would have no trouble with getting it. It's easier to find new decks here than second hand for decks still in print. As for OOP decks then no worries bring them on :)

I have looked but either the decks they have are a little too "iffy", not described enough to tell what they are or what shape they're in, or I'm not really interested in the particular deck..
I do sneak a peak every now and then though. :)

I love second hand decks.

They have some history and they don't have that awful new deck chemically smell.

I have a second hand RWS deck from the early 1970s - it's not valuable but I like it so much more than the more modern version. It doesn't have shiny laminate and it has a wonderful energy.

I've just ordered a second hand Morgan Greer from Tarot Garden - again not valualbe but I can't wait for it to arrive.

I like a deck that's lived a bit :)

Love

Sulis xx
