Have you ever reached a point where you just couldn't bring yourself to pick up the cards and do a reading, even though you know you've got people waiting, you know you've got to do it?
I've been in that rut for a couple of weeks, and I have to get out of it. In fact I have a big event booked tonight. Perhaps that's the cause of the rut.... hmmmm.... I'm over-worrying myself because this event is the biggest I've done so far?
So what have you done to get yourselves out of reading ruts?

I've had time when I could not read, or would not. It happens. Usually it passes by itself, and then it is like discovering all the Tarot all over again! But if you have an event schedualed for tonight, hmmm, then thats a tough one. Is it a reading event? If so, then I have nothing to really advise you, since it is all a matter of letting it pass, but if you are under pressure to read, then take it easy, rememeber that you can do it, and hopefully all will go well.
Good Luck!

That's a hard spot to be in, I would also advise taking the time off that you need, but when you have events booked, one's responsible for seeing them through and unfortunately can't just say, "I don't feel like it!" ;)
- And this is btw (unrelated to Gwynne) the exact circumstance I try to describe to people who think reading Tarot for money is the best job ever. A day will come, eventually, when you don't feel like it, and you still have to... and that's when you know you're reading cuz it's a job. It's part of a paid reader's path, I reckon, but early on, folks don't believe this will ever happen to them. -
Get away from your cards today, and don't do any readings until tonight. Get out in the sunshine, and "dry yourself out" - sunshine energy helps renew us a lot. We think of putting our decks in the sunlight to "cleanse" them, but don't always do the same for us, when we need it maybe even more so!
After tonight, I would suggest putting your decks down for a while. It may be only a day or two, it may be a week. A month. Tell your friends you need to recharge your batteries, if they understand, they're good friends indeed. If they grow impatient, they can find someone else to read for them in an emergency (local or online, they have options besides just you, so don't feel pressured).
If you have clients awaiting readings, by all means, finish them out as you can (but not today) and then suspend taking any new appointments until you know the time is right again.
And yes, I've gone through several hardcore Tarot burnouts. It does wear off, eventually. Rest and renew yourself! :D Give yourself a little time-off and some space to remember what the mystery and joy of Tarot is, it will come back.

After having posted I actually felt the need to grab my cards. It was like releasing the anxiety. I'd blocked myself up getting nervous about this event tonight.
I've had ruts before, not Tarot but writing, so I know that most of them are simply nerves and not much else. Over-worrying....
