Tarot workbooks- your opinions?

I'm now reading 'Step by step tarot' by Terry Donaldson, and he advocates the use of a workbook, through which you explore every card in your deck, recording your reaction to each card with regards to which memories the card triggers off, hopes, dreams and fears, and so on. I found this to be fascinating, and I can see how it helps to add depth to readings for querents. I've started work on my own, to aid me in learning the craft. What are your opinions? Do you have workbooks, and if so, what do you record in them?

Try doing a search under 'journal', 'journalling.

Not to stop discussion, but if you couldn't find anything, that's why.

Thanks, Marion! I'll repost in that thread, now that I've found it!! :)

hi,

If you are referring to deck specific workbooks or learn to workbooks with exercises, I recommend them. They can be a great learning tool even if it's just to compare card meanings and to get a greater understanding of cards you may have previous problems with.

Personally, I love that book. It was my first, and after ten years I still have it. An excellent primer, although I rarely went by the excercises that were in it. Anbd I tried to start a Tarot Journal several times, but it didn't last...

I started out journaling...but I also found that I kept records of my readings...either by notes after I did the reading, or printing it out if online.

When I first started, I really enjoyed Mary Greer's (Teheuti, here at AT)
Tarot for YourSelf a very good book and "tool" to explore various spreads, card combinations...she has you read one set of cards, then switch them around...

Lots of "workbook" activities that open up the imagination....It allowed me to meditate and let my spiritual/imaginative parts go to work.

Otherwise, I kept notes in a binder or spiral notebook....
