Geenius at Wrok: I've had it. My brain cells are exhausted and are calling for a rest. I've been trying to figure out for the last three months what a "blouth" is, but I'm stumped.
Please, please, enlighten me!

Yep, the kids have it. I've always thought "Thoth" was a ridiculous-sounding word—couldn't hear it without imagining that the speaker was lisping—and the sig line came to me in a moment of daffiness.
I'm reminded of a children's nonsense poem:
The thunder god
went for a ride
upon his favorite filly
"I'm Thor!" he cried
The horth replied
"You forgot your thaddle, thilly"

Oh goodie, now I can join in the joke. Yes, that's a great signature.
You know, I could have spent a life-time figuring this one out. Once again, it's because I have never had any discussions with anyone about Tarot in English, and I thought Thoth was pronounced "Tot". So if I understand correctly, one pronounces both "th"s like the "th" in the word "the"? Sounds silly. I think I'll continue saying Tot.
So it was really worth getting up this morning - my mind has been opened once again and thanks to the Aeclectic Forum. Hip hip hooray!
:D

Ever since GAW joined us, I've laughed whenever I see his sig quote! It really does brighten up my day.... (I can proudly boast that I got the joke first time!) :)

Have to admit that it took 2-3 times of seeing the sig before I got it :( .
Diana: as for the pronunciation, there are 2 "th" sounds in English. "the" has a voiced "th" sound (the vocal folds vibrate which you can feel if you touch your throat while making the sound) "Thoth" has voiceless "th" sounds (the vocal folds don't vibrate). the difference is the same as the diff. btwn "z" and "s", (or "s" and "ss" in French, if that helps).
Sorry, 3 years of grad school needing validation, I guess. Hopefully I didn't bore everyone too much.
