Hi,
I'm a secular humanist. I like science, psychology, science fiction and I'm interested in paganism, particularly shamanism.
I currently work part-time in a primary school organising counselling for the children (ages 5 - 11). I also do a couple of hours counselling a week for a bereavement service.
I'm married, have two sons and one cat. My younger son (aged 15) has been suffering from CFS/ME for the last three years. My older son (17) hopes to be off to university next September.
I am really looking forward to the great chats we'll have on these new forums :)
All the best,
FH

Hi im Wigwag
I live in Yorkshire in England and am a Credit counsellor.
I have a husband, a daughter, a dog, a cockatiel and 2 ratties, who I adore.
I am fairly new to tarot but have found it to be a most suprising tool when reading for my friends. For myself it is a bit harder unless I really want to know something specific.
I love walking, watercolour painting, music and learning new things such as the tarot and runes. (I have read playing cards since I was about 11).

Hi!
I'm Kiama. I am a 17 year old woman, living on the South Coast of England in a very small town called Christchurch in Dorset. I am Celtic Pagan, with a avid interest in philosophy (Especially Hume, Plato, Voltaire, and Neitzsche, aswell as the philosophy of religion and mind.) I also love and live Tarot, and have been since I was 9. I write now and then for an eco-Pagan parenting magazine called Triple Spiral, and also enjoy writing poetry. I have a wonderful boyfriend (Its our first anniversary on the 21st March!!!) who is absolutely great, and supportive of everything I do, so much so, that he's even moving up to Cardiff with me when I go to university there to study Philosophy for 4 years. (Maybe 8, depending on whether or not I will continue onto PhD). Ah, university... Recently, the bane of my existence! It all began when I banked everything on getting into Cambridge, but actually got rejected.... (BOO! HISS!!!)
Anyway, I'm also a Tarot deck collector, with 43 and counting. However, I'm having to cut down now cuz I'm saving up for university. But, to fund both my Tarot habit and uni, I'm organising an 8 week Tarot course! I'm a bit nervous about it, but I think it'll go really well. Its beginning in July, so I've got plenty of time to sort out a course plan and everything.
Now, what else? Oh, I'm currently doing A-levels in Psychology, Philosophy, and English, I have two younger sisters, and Mum and Dad, and some pot plants. Oh, and loads of really wonderful friends, both on the net and off. And some both!
*Kiama thinks* I do believe I have said all that is worth saying, and some that isn't! so, tally ho, for now!
Kiama *who is really annoyed that her Kiama Kisses are no more!*

Hey, I never got to introduce myself when I first joined the Aeclectic family - i just jumped right in! ;)
Well, I'm from Auckland, New Zealand, just turned 26, have three cats (all nutters), and have a loving partner.
I'm in a new wave band, called "Antoinette's Head", and we play all our own original compositions.
In 2001 I completed a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing, which I loved. In fact, I'm thinking about going back to do more study. I'm thinking either animal welfare or dog handling, or maybe both.
I have been reading the Tarot since I was 18, and it was almost like coming home for me. I am really attached to my old Rider-Waite cards, and no matter what anyone else says, I still think they are the best cards for "connecting". I have about 10 other decks that I just look at and play with; nothing comes close to the Rider-Waite - sorry!
Just received the Faeries' Oracle for my bday (from my sweet partner) and I have a feeling that this deck could be another connective deck...
I starting reading about the occult when I got my Rider-Waite, which has lead me down many paths, and I have come to many crossroads. I know consider myself an eclectic neo pagan with buddhist overtones!!!
I've been a vegetarian for 7 months, which to me, is the biggest accomplishment I could ever achieve. People say, "Oh, I couldn't become a vegetarian, I love meat too much." Well, guess what? So do I! But I'm doing it for the animals, not for myself. Plus I have discovered that by giving up meat, it's like you're 5 years old palate comes back - things have such a lovely taste now!! And what better excuse to cook and eat Indian, Turkish, etc etc etc...
Well, I could go one forever, but I won't (a woman has to keep SOME secrets, right!?!?!?) ;)
I really love this board, and think that everyone on it has a great personality and big hearts!
I really love the new look of the board, and I'm away now to play with it! hee hee!

I'm Amyel. I live in Ottawa, Canada. It's current cold here, although we've had a relatively moderate winter.
I've been reading Tarot since '87, but the longer I read the forum, the more I realize I still have sooooo much to learn.
My spiritual beliefs are undefined. I tend to avoid any practice that requires rigid observance of ...well, anything, really. I have just re-started yoga and have started Pilates. I garden and read and enjoy watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (& I ain't too proud to admit it!!!). I have a pet rabbit (Everest), cat (Nigel) and a hamster (Peppy). Married, with two step-kids.
That's me. Not very exciting, is it???? :)

Hey!
I'm Melvis from Minneapolis, Minnesota in the U.S. I've been working with tarot for about three years, but only do readings for friends at this time. I love collecting decks, and have more than 45 now. Favorites include the Cosmic Tribe, Osho Zen, and World Spirit.
I've worked for a great little gift store company for 15 of its 16 years in business, so my job description is pretty broad. :D I maintain our websites, create our advertising, and am the resident computer tech support for our new Point-of-Sale system (whether I want to do that last part, or not! ;) )
I live by myself and love it! Although I'm hoping to move into a larger place soon so I can get a dog -- and have room for all my books! I have varied interests outside of tarot, including writing, psychology, mythology, Feng Shui, theater, and more.
I can't tell you how much I love this forum! I read just a few posts back in August and immediately knew that there was something special about Aeclectic and the people here. Glad to be a part!
Peace,
Melvis

Diana here. 42 years, living in Switzerland in a town on the beautiful Lake Geneva. Have a most wonderful husband whom I met when I was 19, an 11 year old son who is the biggest treasure of my life.
I love my family, cats, Tarot, people, chocolate, birds, newspapers, movies. I'm scared of frogs and flying in airplanes. I hate intolerance, bigotry and racism (I grew up in apartheid South Africa which was pretty gruesome). Working part-time doing admin. in a scientific NGO. Am starting training to be a Bach Flower Therapist with the aim to specialise in Flower Remedies for animals.
And I love you all at Aeclectic.

Hello Aeclectic Community!
My name is Scott.
I'm a Piscean and recently turned 24.
I have two cats (Max and Morgan) and three goldfish.
I am a Teacher and work with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds which I find very rewarding.
I love to paint, sculpt draw etc and lately have been combining these artforms with my computer artwork (see The Hanged Man, The King of Wands and The Five of Swords on the FACT deck...)
I love movies and music - particularly anything that is not quite main stream.
I am on the search for the ultimate contemporary tarot deck and am in the process of creating my own...

Hi all of Aeclectic.
I´m 19 years old vegetarian, with a deep interest for Religous philosophies, art, music, poetry, and other things that make life worth living.
I live in Karlstad, Sweden, which is really snowy right now, right next to a newly open University library, that is really something else.
I Study the society program, but have had big problems due to lack of health, it has been getting better now though.
Take care.

HI THERE! It's Pollux, the official logorroic and obsessive member of THIS WONDERFUL FORUMS!!!
They look relly good to me! I have to gt used to this new format and all...
However, I'm a 18-year-old boy from Naples, a city I consider the mosty beautiful maybe in the World - Come 'n' have a go, if you think yer hard enough! :)
I've been a vegetarian since last September, when I entered University. I attend the 1st year of Medicine and Surgery, a very hard and long long long path... I'll definitely walk it trough.
My ambition is to move abroad, in a third world country, or maybe to India, where I can use my skills (that are still to come, though :) ) to cure poor and suffering people.
What else? I love animals, Tarots, and I am a wiccan practicioner - actually I only realized this was the name some month ago! :D
In this communtity I've found plenty of support, and a form of friendship I value a lot. They have also given me wonderful occasions: soon I will be working to orgnise a European convention that will be held in Summer 2003 in Naples... I'm so excited!
Well, I'd surely want to add something else, but, you see, I keep getting lost for words, and hardly manage to say something that makes sense (but Liliana always manage to understand what I mean, GREAT! Who knows how she does! :D).
I am a Gemini, with Scorpio rising and firey streaks, even though these days, especially on account of my approaching Wicca seriously, I'm getting more and more acquainted with Earth and it's values, that I have felt quite far so far from me.
This should be enough (I won't tell you I have a personal, secret love-affair with Liliana and Kiama, he he he...)
I also plan to achieve a wondrous sentence for my signature... Time will tell!

So happy to have found all of you to learn from!

I'm Bella. I'm 35 and live in New York City with my ex-husband (we've decided to give it another try since 9/11) and our beautiful daughter. I also have 2 dogs, 2 birds, 2 turtles, and a rabbit.
I work as a medical editor, wishing I could get into a "new age" publishing house. Prior to this I was a biochemist doing oncology research, but the work and hours were grueling.
I'm a shamanic practitioner, and I also practice zen meditation and yoga. I've been reading tarot for a few years, and after having read for all my friends, and their friends, I am just now trying to make a professional go of it. Plus I love to collect cards as well. I'm also just starting to explore scrying (so if anyone has advice, I'd love your input).
I'm new to this board, but really love this site and the people on it!

I'm a practicing solitary wiccan, but i was brought up pagan.
i only have two decks, my ferie oracle and my rider-waite. i love them both, huggingmy cards is a favoured past time :D
i have one cat, my familiar, called Faith..coz she is. i love her, she's great :D
i already know my soulmate, we're tied through lives (we've had a conversation where i said something to her that i said to her in a past life and she's said the answer she said back then (lol, kinda confusing)) and she's great. my best friend in the whole world, my other half. the only problem is, as soon as you've met your soul mate whenever you leave them you get the *worst* headaches, hehe...
i play in a band called Hysteric (I'm off school today recovering from one of our gigs last night :D) i play bass in the band, but i also play piano, violin, descant recorder and have been known to sing in my time ;)

i could go on forever...oh oh, i love these forums!!! lol, i waste so much time just sitting here reading stuff..not that its wasted time *ahem*
I'll see if i can get a pic of me up (if it does work it'll be one of me and my friend sarah (excuse her in this photo, she looks really bad *L*))

a rattie is a domesticated pet rat. they are wonderful pets..........very intelligent. you can train them and they love to lay in your lap and get petted :) females are more energetic than males......but of course, that's a generalization that doesn't always apply.

I am a 17 year old HS senior just into Tarot since this summer when my friend Josh started teaching me. I also use I Ching and I work with my dreams. I'm currently trying to become closer with my guides as they are doing the same. Right now I'm religionless, as I decide if I want to put a title to what I believe in or just stay free like I feel I am now :D
I live in Michgan, USA with my parents, who don't believe in this stuff at all and think I'm going through a phase and my little brother who, someday if my parents don't think I'm corrupting him (I doubt they would) I might give a deck to. But he's only 8.
Love to you all,

i live in the midatlantic area of the USA. i've been reading tarot since 1976. my interest in divination was encouraged by my mother but it was my 9th grade English teacher who told me about tarot. i'm married with a stepdaughter and 3 stepgrandsons. my husband and i have 2 cats, 3 bettas, and a dog. we recently lost our 3rd cat due to a liver and kidney tumor and are still in mourning. :'(
facetious question of the day: what is a rattie? some kind of pedigree rat like you would take to shows the same way you do pedigree cats and dogs? ;)
i have done many kinds of work--librarian, English teacher, nurse's aid, crisis counselor, rehabiliation counselor, waitress, clerk, tobacco looper, etc. currently, i'm a first year nursing student--yeah, i like going to school--isn't that obvious? ;D i love sci-fi/fantasy particularly star trek, babylon 5, and star wars. i enjoy art, creative writing, reading, and collect ty beanie babies--the bears and cats. i enjoy doing volunteer work when i have time--particularly at the local free medical clinic. i'm a true pisces and love being near the water. unfortunately, i live too far inland right now. i grew up on a river.
as far as tarot goes, it's such a multi-dimensional interest and somehow fits into much anything that interests me. i collect decks and have around 40+. i use tarot to study mythology and archetypal psychology such as works by carl jung and joseph campbell. i consider myself a spiritual eclectic and have chosen that path since i was a young girl.

my growth and age-progression was stunted due to steroidal therapy because of a chronic illness, so i still look like a child. i am short-statured, round-bodied, freckle-faced, with long curly, red hair and chubby cheeks. i look like a giant cabbage-patch doll!
i love to explore all that heals the body and soul.
i am a writer of great works and a seeker of great philosophies.
i am a tarot-holic and a bibliophile...

Hmm,me.
Well, My name is Belinda, I'm 29 (shudder..). I classify my life as bc/ ac (before child/after child)
BC I have a degree in psych, and worked for community agencies with first time mothers and children at risk, and later in Human Resources for a big bank (quite a moral dilemma, I assure you!).
After a few years of consumer bliss (the ulitmate material girl!) life reminded me of what is really important-I had a gorgeous little girl 18 months ago, and will be having another child in five months, both with my fiance.
As for me now, I'm a seeker- working out who I now am and exactly where I want to go. Something about being responsible for another life that makes you shun anything that isn't authentic or meaningful.
Where am I drawn- most probably counselling (of others, not me), incorporating flower essences and a wholistic approach to happiness, well being and fulfillment, but who knows. I could throw it all in and become a frustrated artist.
I love faeries, herbs, writing, alternative therapies and my ever growing family!

I'm Louis. I'm 30 and living in Cincinnati OH. I did 7 yrs in the Air Force as a Aircraft Mechanic. When I got out of the military I moved to Cincinnati with a friend whom I serviced with in the Air Force. In hopes of cutting living cost and going to school. But, I wasn't one to plan ahead in life. I had too many bills to pay on to be able to go to school and now it's 3 yrs later. (btw Major Tom when was u in?) I'm now working for the Post Office. I first learn about Pendulum 2 years ago then some how stumbled on Astral Projection. In the process of learning about both them I came around Runes and started read about them. About 3 months ago I started exploring tarot cards. I want to explore all aspects and learn as much as I can, but I don't have a lot of time to read like I use too so that makes it harder. I don't have any animals cause I live in apts...Wish I had a cat thou. I'm totally addicted to this forum now. :)

Wow, this is so GREAT!!! It's such a thrill to be here, I don't know where to start...... Anyway, I live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with my husband and teenage son, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and one goldfish. I work at the local library part-time, and I realize that the older I get (42 this summer) the less I know. But I guess just acknowledging that fact is some sort of progress, since I'm trying to learn all the time! I just discovered tarot this past summer and I'm really enjoying it. I love sewing and crafts, and wish there were more hours in the day to do everything I have planned in my mind. Here's looking forward to many interesting threads..... :)

I'm female, 36 years old. Married 18 years to my one true love. We have 3 children ages 13, 9 and 8. We have one cat and 4 ferrets. My husband is in the US military so we move a lot. Right now we are living in New York.
I work for a local news paper at the moment. My hobbies are computers, sewing/embroidery and archery (non-living targets only).
I was raised Catholic but was spiritually lost over the past several years. I believe I have now found myself and my place in the world and am Pagan.
Tarot is new to me, got my first deck in January. My husband would list it under one of my hobbies, but to me it is more of a part of my life.

I'm Luned, 28-year-old female from NZ, loving the speed of the new forum (now that Solandia fixed my settings for me so I can actually get in - thanks!). I just bought a house so I'm trying to curb my deck-buying instincts (currently got about 10 or 12 but I have to do an order to Amazon for some books, so very very tempted to pick up a deck there, but can't decide on just one!)
I'm also into reading and needlework. I'm pagan, inspired by Celtic and Druid thoughts. The name Luned comes from the Mabinogian - a minor character who had a magic ring that made the wearer invisible. It's my anti-spam device.......

Where to start-
name : tempestfire / aka Anita (common)
Female
age : I think is relative. I do not feel as old as I am- yet some days I feel older. To those who may wonder- 33
Leo- not completely typical- but I do love adoration. lol
Currently seeking a path that feels right. Could best describe as ecclectic mix of pagan-druid-shaman-wicca. But in truth I believe that spirituality comes from within- from our hearts.
Divorced- for a year/ seperated for 2 prior to that; married for 10.
I have 2 wonderful children - daughter-9 son-8 (11 months apart in age). They currently live with there father- we are going through a really bad custody battle. Long story- but he was extremely controlling- and it was in my best interest/ health to move.
I am currently trying to get on my feet again- trying to find an attorney to help me with custody - searching for a job- basically it has been a tough year- full of new challenges. I will survive it- even if I sometimes wonder how.
On a happier note- I love painting, pottery, creating, crafting, writing and reading. Anything that challenges me mentally. I love helping others- in any way I can. Currently working on craft items to donate to a local earth day progect.
I love life... nature.... animals.
Just recently started studying Tarot. Hope to someday soon find the inspiration to create my own deck.
Live in the Midwest- USA
Okay- that's it- a bit lengthy and yet not even close to being all. I won't bore you anymore today-lol

Tempestfire, you're going through a tough time. Don't forget, you've got lots of friends on these forums. And I'm sure some of us will be sending you thoughts, love, energy, light, in order to get through this as smoothly as possible. I know I will be including you when I do my healing work (if you allow me to, of course).
Whatever you do, when you get up in the morning, you must find one positive thought to start the day with. Use that positive thought to crown your day, okay??
Love to you

Diana-
Thanks for all the kind words- and thoughts. It is nice to know that there are people out there who care. Thanks so much. I appreciate everything. The positive thoughts are easier some days than others. I know this is just a temporary situation- I know things will get better.
I already feel at "home" here on the forums. And in my short time here have become totally addicted. Thanks again for the support.

Hello all!
I'm a 31 year old Leonine gal. I have a handsome husband and a gorgeous little girl, who is almot 18 months old. Also cute little dog. We live in Michigan.
I've been interested in tarot, healing, astrology, herbs, past lives, religions, and more for a very long time. Probably since highschool, I've been dabbling. It has really only been in the last year that I have really dedicated myself to learning more about these things.
I currently am practicing with the Universal Waite tarot deck, and it has been much more forgiving of me that my previous two (Witches Tarot and Mythic Tarot). I took an on-line class on bn.com, which I found very helpful. I'm finding that I actually do better with readings if I just kind of "make it up". I don't know if that makes any sense! But the definitions of the cards often confuse me, so I go by intuition I guess.
Religiously speaking, I am a witch (or Wiccan, if you prefer). It's a very odd trasformation for me, because I don't feel that I am learning anything new, but rather remembering my true self. Sometimes it's rather spooky! Sometimes my poor Catholic husband doesn't know what to make of me. LOL! But he is very tolerant, to say the least.
Other than that, my most recent aeclectic-relevant skill is that I was certified as Reiki I this month. I've been having fun practicing on my DH and my pooch. My toddler won't sit still long enough!
It's great to find you all (Thanks, Amyel!!). It's really inspiring to find a group of people with so many diverse skills and interests!

You're welcome!
Yes folks, Lunar_rabbit is my "little" sis...but sometimes I look up to her so much, I forget I'm suppose to the [much] older & wiser one. I love her to bits and ain't too proud to say so, LOUD & PROUD to the whole forum!!!!
Oh, and I might be a proud auntie, but Lunar_Rabbit's toddler *is* awfully cute - and smart, too!!!! Must take after her auntie...;)

Hello! I'm 39 and live in Denver , Colorado. Was born in NewYork, NewYork. I've been divorced twice and now live with my boyfriend. I really have no desire to get married! I have an older son who is 19 , and studying to be a sonar tech. in the Navy in San Deigo. He scored extremely high on his mechanical aptitude test. My younger son is 13 and a brain! I pretty much spent my adult life raising them , but now find myself without a career , or even a job. I'm pretty down about the job/money thing lately. The advice about waking up every day with one positive thing on my mind for the day is advice I should consider. I find even that difficult lately. I guess I've avoided this thread for this long because I'm not feeling the greatest lately. My older cat of many years I had to put to sleep recently. But we got a new kitten, and she is the true love of my life!!! Spunky little thing! I'm a capricorn ,collect tarot decks and have about 33! I also love books, metaphysics, beading and sewing, popular music and heavy metal.I've been a solitary wiccan for about 6 years now. And I am definitely addicted to forums, and computer! ........And my favorite color is purple!

hello,
I'm sara, i'm 22 years old and live in bruges, belgium with my parents, two sisters and one brother, I'm the oldest one. I have two cats who i adore!
I study artsciences at the university of ghent and live then by my boyfriend Rini, we are 5 years together since march.
I love animals especially cats, i love art, nature, poetry, knowledge (books), all sorts of stones, tarot and oracles, old things (boxes, stemps, envelopopeners, posters, ... ) and all sorts of beautifull books (illustrated books: from childrenbooks to adultbooks (art), also comics). A while ago i write poetry by myself and also painted.
I'm interested in almost everything and can't stay to long buzy with one thing (i'm a twin, astrology).
Next to this i love music especially rock music and pianomusic (but i don't know much about it, still i really love pianomusic).
I like going to films but not the pulpstuff, I like dramatic films(example magnolia, requiem for a dream, moulin rouge ...) and going to festivals, musichappenings and that sort of things, exhibitions (of art).
now when it's a beautifull day i just love to be in the garden or go to the sea, looking to the sunset and the stars, just realizing how beautifull this world can be if we just love eachother.
with love,
rostie.

Hey y'all!
For those of you who can't tell, I was raised in the South (USA), where I still live with my 2 black kitties (Vachon and Jeannette).
I'm currently a tutor, and am wanting to get back into school to work on my PhD ib Psychology. While I like the security of a scientific approach to life, there are things that science can't explain, that are no less real so I am a believer after all.
I've been reading tarot off and on for about 3 years now, mostly for myself and a few friends, since most of the people I know don't want to understand. It's easier just to watch what I say/do around certain people than to try to sway them to my point of view (especially since there are times when I don't know what my PoV is!).
Did I mention that I'm a Pisces?
Well, I guess that's all that's worth mentioning at the moment.
Be well,
napaisti

Hi. I'm Kate.
I'm a fourty-something married mother of 2. I'm a pretty good wife, a better mom and a terrible housekeeper. I've done a lot of freelance consulting in marketing and management -- and recently was seduced by a new car and an old friendship to help market the products of a small industrial chemical company my friend bought into.
Industrial chemicals sounds just horrible, but ours are much safer and greener than products we are replacing, it's actually a good thing.
I just found the forums a few weeks ago, and am thrilled that you all are here. I love the new software, too.
About a year ago, I felt a very strong pull to buy myself some Tarot cards. I ended up with the Cosmic Tarot because the store didn't have the only deck I'd ever heard of (RW) -- and feel I couldn't have made a better choice.
The more I learn about Tarot, the more I realize I don't know much. Yet, I've had some amazing experiences with the cards and am loving this journey.

I am sorts new here, and although I know a few of you, I don't know all. I was thinking of doing a roll call to introduce us(although I am sure this has be done in the past). I'll go first.
My name is Darryn, and a it says to the left, my SN is Phoenix. I live in northern Ontario, Canada. Beauiful country up here. I just turned 18 back in March, so am excited about that. I am an avid Tarot-holic(I have about 11 now) and have been collecing for about 2 years, since I started. I am also a Celtic Padan, with beliefs from LaVeyan Satanism, Buddhism, and Hinduism.
Some of my interests and hobbies include: Collecting tarot decks(like, duh!), painting(watercolors and oils), reading(I like crime friction, medical thrillers, and forensic thrillers), cultural anthropology, linguistics, ancient history, and listening to music.
I can speak French very well, and now am attempting to learn Italian(which is a very beautiful language) and the french helps a little with that.
I like to travel, and last March break, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe with a group from school. I was able to go to Venitizia(Venice), Firenze(Florence), Sienna, Pisa, Nice, and Paris. It was wonderful!!
Some of my favorite authors are: Tess Gerritsen, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell, Tami Hoag, Michael Crichton, Iris Johanson, Shakespeare, and Chaucer.
Some of my favorite singers or bands are: Nelly Furtado, Swollen Members, Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman, Sarah McLauchlan, Josh Groban, Charlotte Church, Dido, POD, and Jan Arden.
I guess that's it for now. Let's hear yours!!!

WOW! I read that and can't believe how similar you are to me!
I am nearly 18.. *Sniff. Still a Minor!* And a Celtic Pagan, with afterlife beliefs from Hinduism, and a respect for much of LeVay's Satanism. (Although I don't take on much of the beliefs!)
I'm also a Tarot-holic. (49th deck being picked up from the shop in about half an hour!) My interests include ancient history, reading, and whilst I have never made a proper hobby of it, cultural anthropolgy has always interested me. Okay, so our taste in music isn't the same, but I'm so pleased there's another Celtic Pagan teenager on the boards!
Yay!

I thought I'd already done this here, but I guess not! :D
I'm 40 years old, and I work in a library. Most people would call me a librarian, but I'm not - that's the best way to explain what I do. I like my job - and library people are a pretty liberal group, on the whole. I love to know things, and to find things out, and to read books, so it's the perfect job for me.
I live in Kent, a suburb of Seattle, in a semi-rural area with 2 huge dogs; three cats, two birds, a turtle, and fish. No kids, we don't have room, OOOPS! ;) Also with my husband Ken, 38, aka the Saint, so named by my family and friends. *I* certainly don't call him that! But we've been together over 20 years, most of them very happy. Nobody at our wedding would have given you odds on us staying together for 6 months , so maybe they *are* right about him, LOL.
Aside from tarot, my hobbies are a computer game called the Sims, and other random games, writing fiction, reading, rubber stamp art, and when the weather gets better, camping and outdoor stuff, travelling with Ken, and anything else that distracts me.

Hello, all! cricket here, Kristal to those who know me well. I was born and raised in small towns in Colorado. My high school class had 13 people in it... and that was considered big! Went to college in a bigger town in Colorado, then moved to Pennsylvania, then Utah, then Montana, and ended up in Arkansas... Been here for the last nearly 3 years (a long time for me) and have gotten married. We have a boy (will be 3 in May) and a girl (2 in August). We also have a dog we -think- is part wolf named Hot Dog thanks to my little boy.
I have the most wonderful - and stressful - job in the world, raising my kids. I've just recently gotten back into tarot in what little time is left from that. At this point I only have 5 decks.... but have bought each of them within the last 3 weeks. Does that make me a Tarot-holic? *L*
I know I'm a Capricorn... and a snake born in the element of fire. Which is one heck of a combination. Talk about getting confuzzled signals....

luna here, I'm a 34 year old capricorn mom of three beautiful and bright children doing it on my own up in the beautiful mountains of California working the night shift as a bartender(stop, take breath). I have been reading tarot for over 11 years. I would love to have a collection, but it's not practical, it's a capi thing...I dove deep into astrology about 3 years ago. I don't have any title for the spiritual path that I follow, I just do what I do and keep it respectful. I love all animals, especially horses, used to show-jump in high school. I am more fond of cats than dogs, but a dog is what I have, but she's small and acts alot like a cat. I love to write, poetry mostly, but I have a few ideas for a novel...someday. I am really creative, I do alot of artistic things like sew, jewelry, leather, clothing, watercolor, pastels, carvings....I'll stop there. I also like to read, garden, hang out by the river & I'm a rock hound.

I'm 27 years old and I live in Prince William County VA, USA. That's about 20 min. away from D.C., but in this traffic, it usally takes about 2 hours.
I recently became a SAHM like a few others here, this is my first week back with my kiddies full time. I have 3: Lindsay age 7, Ian age 4 and Isaac age 2. My hubby is Rick age 32, but more like 14 ;) . I left my most recent pet behind at my last job because it's very hard to move a fish tank.
I enjoy tarot, hope to make some extra $ doing it soon. I also enjoy reading. Generally sci-fi fantasy type stuff. The most recent book I've read is "The Gate to Women's Country" by Sheri S. Tepper. I highly recommend it. I also enjoy watching my hubby play video games, at least the role playing kind like Drakan or Tomb Raider. I can't play them myself. I always die when I'm supposed to jump. ;)
What else? I'm a Gemini. I'm a Tiger in the chinese zodiac. And I'm thinking about working on my own tarot deck as soon as I finish my research on my theme.

Hello, my name is Tamara
I am 37 and still get carded (once in a while, LOL) I am married
11 years have three sons 2,6 and 9. I am a Leo and a Dragon
in Chinese Astrology. I Love all things mystical. I was raised
very strict protestant. I have bought many books on Wicca, Witch-
craft and Alchemy to try to open my psychic abilities. I have since backpedaled quickly because I began getting memories of what
I think was a past life, these memories are crystal clear and very
very painfull, in a nut shell, I was a 14 year-old Celtic girl, my parents were burned in our house by Vikings, I was taken prisoner, raped, then when the whole ship was quiet I tipped-
toed onto the deck and slid my body over the side, under the
water and held my breath until I lost conscienceness. My name
was Arerhea ( does anyone know if this is a true Celtic name?)
Well, I thought if I remember this much, feel this pain, what else
could happen? I feel safe and calm with my Tarot, so don't know
if I want to go, more psychic for now. OUCH!

Hi y'all,
I hail from New Zealand, I'm a university student in the 3rd year of a genetics/ecology degree, and I'm also taking a part time career scuba course this year (hence the webname!). It's pretty full on but heaps of fun.
I'm a solitary eclectic pagan, leaning more towards witchery than anything else. At the moment I'm most interested in finding out about the Celtic and Welsh patheons, and my latest project is starting a real herb garden.
I've been working with Tarot for about 2 years, and my fav. hobbies are rockclimbing, vegetarian cooking, painting, martial arts, yoga, and reading just about anything. I have a boyfriend and a gorgeous cat (she's much more psychically talented than I am so the joke at my house is that I'm HER familiar!)
Oooh - and I'm turning 21 on Friday so wish me a happy b'day!

Found an old thread that I've missed - and since I'm having so much fun reading all your presentations, I thought I'd add my own... It's nice to know a little something about the people you hang out with, isn't it...! :D
So: I'm Jenny, I'm a few days from 29 years old, and have been a Tarot addict for a year. I live in Sweden, in our beautiful capital Stockholm, which is a very nice city to be in this time of year (not today though, it's raining :( ). I'm not married, but have been engaged for 6 years... Hmmm, I mean - why rush things, right...? ;) No kids, no pets :( would love to have both though.
However, the time isn't quite right for that now - lost my job last week, and have been looking for a more interesting one since forever anyway. The way things will probably turn out, I'll probably go back to what I was doing, but for a different company, but I still want a new job before I start breeding... ;)
Interests...? The Tarot, reading (not only cards, I mean...!), music (strictly from the listening point of view!), painting (although I don't do it as often as I'd like), hanging out with friends (I love to invite friends over for dinner and stuff, but I'm a terrible cook, so all I can hope for is that they will come for the company, not the food...! :D ) and so on. Usual stuff...!
What else...? Well since I never posted on the "what do you look like?", I can add that part here, while I'm at it: I'm 1.74 m tall, average built (though I go overweight real easy, have a sweet tooth the size of a small house, I think...!), blond short hair that sticks out all over the place in the very fashionable "just-got-out-of-bed"-kind of way... I wear make-up most of the time, if only a couple of strokes of mascara, and I usually wear black.
There! The whole Jenny-story! :D
Love and light!
Jenny :)

Ok, at the massive request of Jenny-Li and Qolus ;) here is my bio :
Kissa stands for Karen
Scorpio asc Aquarius turning 30 this november, uh ...
Been living in Finland for 4.5 years after meeting DH in France
Mom to (almost) 2 year-old daughter
Yes I had to learn this bloody finnish language, with its twisted grammar for example 15 declensions. The worst thing about it is that word radical changes: letters disappear or sometimes appear. Let me give you an example : - can you believe it ?! I am teaching finnish on-line :D :D ?!
Here we go :
"kauppa" = shop (basic form, the one you'll find in a dictionary), to the shop -> kauppaan, in the shop -> kaupassa, of the shop -> kaupan, shops -> kaupat etc...)
Cultural shock was a nice one too. Finns and Frenchs are so different, as you can imagine ! For example, Finns are shy and often won't say sorry if they push you by accident, I HATE THAT !!!
The "good" side of it is that there is no pressure to smile if you don't feel like, ppl accept that you want to be left alone and they don't feel offensed if you are not chatting all the time (smalltalk culture is just appearing nowadays in Finland). Then again, the bad side of it is that it is nice to have a chat with your neighbour even about the weather, well don't worry, I do get good warm chats with our neighbours, I was just surprised how long it took them to "defrost" ;) !!!
In conclusion, the country is beautiful and has at least 100.000 lakes (yes sir !) but some of them are really small. There are many lakes whose name is "Holy Lake" so if you ever come here, make sure you have the right Holy Lake !!!! There are 5 million ppl living here, we have lots of room and in small cities like here, you feel like living in a big village of France. It feels safe most of the time, ppl know each other and when they are used to see you always in the same places, they get really warm, they are frank and helpful. For example, I had to fight at the beginning when I wanted to practise finnish language as everybody wanted to speak english with me so that I wouldn't feel embarrassed if my finnish was bad !!! (Finns like all northern ppl speak excellent english, with a funny strong accent sometimes !!!)
Finns give you the space to be yourself, they don't interrupt you as you speak and don't try to put words in your mouth. They respect your silences and the time you need to formulate clearly your thoughts. I appreciate this deeply and get awfully frustrated when I go to France for holiday ;)
Here were just some thoughts, I always keep in mind that there are wonderful ppl everywhere (we have a good example on Aeclectic :) ) and after all, nationality is nothing compare to the individual spark !!!

I'm still rather new but I can't help it...I love to talk about myself. (I know, I know, egocentricity...)
My name is Morgeinne (Meghan Rose in real life), I'm 14 (born on December 23, 1987), a Capricorn by sun, lunar Aquarian, and the hopelessly nonmanual oriental Cat...I have lived in Northern Florida in the US my whole life, and have never been out of the country. I live with my mom, stepdad, sister, 2 nieces, dog, and cat (my familiar)...I'm eclectic Wiccan, my afterlife beliefs are similar to Buddhism, and I mostly work with the Hindu, Celtic, and Egyptian pantheons of Gods and Goddesses. (VERY eclectic, lol.) I'm learning a lot more about Buddhism because my boyfriend is Buddhist.
I am a classically trained pianist, not-so-classically trained dancer (I have taken few classes, but I dance often--ballet, jazz, and lyrical mostly.) I speak English and Spanish, but my first language will always be HTML. I freestyle as well (was raised on hiphop), and write LOTS of weird poetry and fanfiction. I am in Taekwondo and US Naval Sea Cadet Corps (Going to boot camp this summer...Goddess save us all.) I have been using tarot for about a year or two now, and can't imagine my life without it. I have the Legend: The Arthurian Tarot deck and Dragon Tarot deck...I want to expand when I get some money. My hobbies are dancing, writing, freestyling, singing (I have an absolutely horrible singing voice though), webdesign, making my own music (particularly on the piano...I like to try to mix beats to go with my freestyles), and reading. I eventually hope to become an English/creative writing teacher at the high school or college level, and write and design sites on the side. I graduate 8th grade from a Catholic school (I have had to keep my religion under wraps...but I think being more exposed to Christianity--my parents are Baptist but we don't attend church--has helped me be more tolerant) on May 16, 2002, after attending there for 9 years--I'm going to miss all my friends. I am going to a public high school.
I LOVE THE AECLECTIC TAROT FORUMS! You're all wonderful people. I have only been here, what, 1.5 months, but I don't know what I'd do without you guys. You keep me sane...or at least at the level of insanity on which I currently exist...
*hugs*

i play guitar (am working on keyboards and mandolin), paint in just about all media (tarot deck in making, naturally), write a bit...
my passion (other than tarot :) ) is mathematics. in particular gematria (a numerology of the kabbalah)-- i've developed an english-based system. from this gematria springs a new magickal system.... my great work.

hello! i'm Sam, and i'm 11, almost 12. i have one dog, two bettas, and two hermit crabs. in june i will be graduating elementary school and going to jr. high. i started to get interested in tarot when i saw a small dinky book on it in borders for $5. my mom said "okay you can get it; but it's your money!"<=== like she always does when she dissaproves of something i want to buy. low and behold my love of the tarot was born! my first deck was the new palladini.
i like to skateboard down mild slopes and skate in this flat church parking lot when i want to clear my mind. (this is also one of my uses for tarot, too). some things i collect are coins and souvineers from the -places i go on vacation. recently, i've started to collect pins that say weird things. i'll type what they all say.
"I took my Prozac today!"
"Don't make me come down there! -God"
"And which teletubbie are you?"
"Sorry kids, we did the best we could."
"I see dumb people"
"Of course I don't look busy-I did it right the first time!"
"who farted?"
that is basically all about me for right now. oh yeah, i live by this slogan that i made up: Smile! It *brightens* your day!

My name is Jennifer. I'm currently staying in Asia on my 4th year in my degree in B.S. Chemical Engineering.
I've been an eclectic Witch most of my life, but it was only 8 years ago (1994) when I found the path that I am currently walking... Wicca.
I've been studying Stregheria for quite some time now. And after learning more about it, I feel more certain that this is the right path for me (instead of Wicca). However, I'd like to devote more time evaluating my beliefs before moving further.
I learn from many magickal systems and apply what works best for me. I enjoy working with the Tarot, Astral Projection, Dreams, and Energy Work.
I owned my first deck at the age of 9 (1988) - sadly don't have that deck with me anymore. I now use the Mythic Tarot and the Witches Tarot (my FAV!).
In my spare time, I read books (I LOVE BOOKS), watch movies, and draw/paint.

Hi
I`m Julie, I`m 37 and live in Nottingham, England. I`m originally from Wigan in the North West of England but moved to Nottingham when I was 18 to do RN training. I have 2 children, Joe (11) who`s dad I`m divorced from and Indi (3) who`s dad I`m married to now - his name`s Fran and he`s my soul mate.
I`m a witch, I`ve been conciously practicing as a witch for a couple of years now but I`ve always been a tree hugging hippy, into herbal remedies, magick and solstice parties.
In my younger days I was very active in the animal rights movement and CND.
I`m about to start training as a reflexologist.
I love reading, tarot, yoga and walking in the countryside, and our very old VW camper van.
We`ve got a cat called Alien, a carp called crusty and 2 gerbils.
Well that`s me,
Blessings

Hi everyone,
I'm David, 54 and married with one daugther. I was born in Stoke on Trent England but I live in Standish near Wigan (where Crystalmynx was born).
I lecture at the local college - Business Studies and Statistics.
I have never been a religious person in the sense of being a member of an organised religion. I spent most of my life as an Agnostic verging on Atheism - though the philosophical and magical have always interested me. Over the last four years I have had some psychic experiences and these have led me to rethink my views. I would probably now describe myself as a non-ritualistic Pagan. I don't go in for rituals but I increasingly recognise that there is a spiritual dimension that I wish to know more about. I have contributed to some Wiccan sites and am sympathetic to that religion, though I don't think I would join.
My interests are Astrology and Tarot and I'd like to get to know more about Numerology and Dream Analysis.

For all among you who still do not know me: I am catlin, a 32-year-old foreign language secretary and tarot reader + spiritual councellor by profession. I live in Germany. I am a solitary practitioner of Celtic Wicca with a dash of Egyptian Lore and Voodoo.
I started studying tarot at the tender age of 13 and it has remained one of the great passions of my life. I have 4 cats aged 7 and 6 years. They are my four furry familiares.
I love reading S/F, fantasy, historical novels, biographies, going for a stroll in the city, nature (there is not so much here around *sigh*), plants, animal protection, collection tarot and divination decks (+55), collecting Pagan Jewellry, going out with friends, going to the cinema, etc.
Besides I am taroholic and aeclectic addict LOL

Hello all. I am turning 25 in October. A true scorpio by nature. I used to be United Methodist until I got out on my own.
My partner and I have 3 cat (Sierra, Poet, and Hedwig), 2 dogs (Blackie, and Lolli). I came into this relationship with her having 2 boys, one is 6 about ready to turn 7, and the other is 9.
We just got a house, and I plan on returning to school to get a degree for Computer Graphics.
I like different types of music, Love to draw, color, read. Most of all I love to try web pages. I got into the tarot ideas with my ex, but more heavily with my current. She has been looking into several different areas of relgion. She has found that she likes the Wicca.
She also bought me my first 2 sets of card. The one starter from Barnes and Noble, and my Celtic Dragon set (which i love)
I am here to learn more, and maybe I will more comfortable with my cards, and what I can do with them.

I'm Laurel (both real name and handle) and I live in Seattle, Washington in a celibate oddball relationship with my best friend, Marissa. No pets, and my 11 year old daughter Mariah lives with her father about 80 miles away :(
In the last month I've posted a lot (lol probably too much!) but the one thing I've never talked about directly is my personal spiritual path. Fear of rejection, I'm afraid. I got involved in magic and magical thinking and moon worship when I was 11 or 12 years old and its carried me a lot of places... Wicca, then Ceremonial Magic, then Christian Qabalah, then Unitarian Universalism.... and now, recently, to a left-hand-path tradition.
I'm applying for affiliation with a particularly exclusive initiatory magical order in a couple of days, after a lot of thought, soul-searching and research. I've learned a lot from BOTA, the Golden Dawn, and the OTO/Thelema along the way but never been Initiated. Likewise, during my Wiccan years, I was a solitary practioner.
Career-wise, I intend to be a metaphysical author. I've made the decision to buckle down and get very serious about my writing after a lot of screwing around for the past 15 years because I was too scared of success to go for it. Meanwhile, I'm happily paying my bills looking at porn all day. LOL. By that, I mean that I work for an Internet Filtering company and am one of the people who actually reviews and catagorizes content. I look at porn so kids don't accidentally have too when they are using their school or library computers. In the past, I worked with the FBI, helping hunt down child pornographers but I don't currently do that as part of my job responsibilities, unfortunately.

Hi All, just saw this thread. I wish I'd seen it earlier.
Age: 41 yo
Astrology: Sagittarius.
Spiritual life: Wide spiritual spectrum. Catholic upbringing combined with Wicca/earth spirituality. Celtic/Anglo/Northern influences. Serious student of Tarot.
Political: Liberal/Moderate
Place of Residence: Currently N. Mississippi
Places traveled: I've lived in several states & traveled to numerous places in the US, Canada, & Mexico.
Likes/Dislikes: Petrified of flying! My favorite way to travel is by train. Hobbies reading, knitting, flower gardening and nature. I also write, and hope to publish one day, but I'm terrible at the discipline involved!
Favorite music: New Age/Classical/Rock
Personal: I've been married for 4 1/2 years now. I have a very creative, beautiful 19 yo daughter who is married to a young man from Colombia whom we love. My husband and I also have a Blue Merle Sheltie named Crusoe that we consider to be our 'child'. He's a little over a year old. I also have an aquarium with 2 big angel fish, a gourami, and a ram.
History: When I was younger, I lived quite a bohemian life! Now I've been in college for over two years and was a major in anthropology w/a concentration in archaeology, which I absolutely loved. I am now a major in elementary education at a new college that I start soon. Have been on the Dean's List since I started college & hope to remain there, but I'm dreading the math courses I take this fall, as I am 'math deficient' (to put it nicely!) I hope to be a social studies teacher.

Hi Everybody!
I'm an ecclectic Celtic/Iroquoi Wiccan witch girl from Springfield Massachusetts. We're the hill country of our state, near the borders of Upstate New York, as well as Vermont to the North, and Connecticut to the south.
I'm a single, 28 year old kid masquerading as an adult! I'm a Saxophone/Clarinet player, vocalist and keyboardist. Being a musician is my career, so it's a good thing I love all kinds of music. I'm also a stained glass artist.
I am fortunate enough to own a small condo and share it with my cat Oscar and my snake, Merlin. It's big enough to also share with the man who is destined to be the love of my life, if I ever find him. I am confident that he's out there somewhere!
When I do find him, I hope he can get used to a busy woman!, I'm really into tarot, psychic healing, crystal therapy,(All that witchy stuff!)Shamanism, photography/film/ video, and physical fitness. I just got a new car, and love to drive, so travel is big on this list. I'd drive to California, if I had a reason to, just for adventure and fun.
I'm also into philosophy, mainly the German school, Nietszche, Hegel, but am conversant with existentialism. I'm more of a metaphysician myself. I love languages, and am attempting to learn Russian. I am trading music lessons for Russian lessons with a girlfriend who is an emigre. I am also trying to learn the history of the Iroquoi people and find out my own history too. I may be elegible for tribal registry (Mohawk) but have to find out more from my aunt, who is the family geneologist.
Anyway, that's a lot of me. I don't want to take up too much space. Oh, and DarkElectric comes from the positive dark I associate with, the dark as light, as electricity. (sounds confusing, I know.) The dark comfort of the healing energy of night, The crone goddess, the lightning at midnight that illuminates. The dark, sexual Scorpio energy, I keep my lover's secrets, and urge him to explore his deepst dreams. Winter, when life renews. The depths of Mother Ocean, and the dark blue electric lifeforce. The Ultra in ultra violet, so to speak!

Hi all. Glad you guys bumped this thread up!
I'm Napaea (denelle), i'm 33, single, fake red-head (god's fault. i'm SO obviously a red-head, I don't know what he/she was thinking making me a dishwater blond!!) and passionate.
I'm an artist; poet, writer, actor, singer, crafter, psychic
I'm a pagan, witchy type. I'm not wiccan, as i've not formally studied with anyone or been "inducted" "abducted" or whatever happens. Anyway, I'm not sure I want to have "rules" on my spirituality, so may just be a solitary forever.
I love life! I love reading books, reading tarot, art of all types, watching movies, sex, nature, animals, natural health, ghosts.
I'm very fascinated with past lives, and am interested in doing research in this area.
I have been into tarot for about 4 years, but only this summer have really gone crazy with it, and now i'm going to attempt it as a vocation. i'm so into it!
i am currently studying natural health and herbalism, and love Bach Flower Therapy, like someone else on here, sorry i forgot who already!
I love AT! I have been a pagan for several years now, and I do meet people occassionally who have similar experiences I do, or believe what i believe, but none of my friends do ('cept my sis).
So finding this place was heaven! Being on this site is like my church/synagogue/coven. I love you all.
I live with my sister (who is an amazing spiritual being) our 3 cats, Minnie, Sadhu (hindi for "holy one". he's my familiar)
and Siris (named after "Osiris")
Love and light to you all!!!!!

Hey Kismet, just to let you know, you're not at all odd about your Christian + reincarnation beliefs. Back in the day, like before some political Roman convention that totally changed the Bible, sorry i forget what it's called - ill look it up if you want. Anyway, way back in Christ's time, the church was pretty much divided into groups of believers who didn't accept reincarnation & believers who did accept it. Jesus himself makes several references that I have interpreted as touching on reincarnation. PM me if you want to talk more about this, but you are definatley not alone in your beliefs, so don't feel too weird! :)
