I often find that different times of the year have different smells... For instance, November is bonfire and ice smell. Christmas time is pine smell. Spring is a smell I can't identify, but which smells like sunny mornings. Summer is another one I can't identify...
Does anyone else smell the seasons? If so, what smells do you smell?

Hi Kiama.
You too? :) I know one thing, that Spring smells like heaven. The most significant smell about Spring, is the scent of soaked mud and grass. I never feel Nature so close as I do during this season. These scents make me feel content and in sync with our Mother. Ah! I've never played with my tarot cards in the Spring before! Guess if I'm looking forward! Can you imagine, sitting on the grass on a hill, with the sun pouring over me and with my beautiful Faery Wicca cards layed out in front of me. *dreamy look in her eyes*
In the Summer I smell berries, especially wild strawberries. Wild strawberries have a sweet taste with a little touch to it that I can't identify. Heavenly anyway. *S*

Sring to me has a fresh crisp new smell. Its a cleansing smell of rain washing away the old.
My favorite seasonal smell is Fall. Its an earthy smell. A down to earth, motherly smell. The smell of Fall makes me feel content, warm, comfortable and ALIVE. It's my favorite time of year.

Summer is the smell of air, and flowers, and grass....
tried sunbathing today, lasted about 10 minutes before i got too cold and had to go inside again...
Mind you, it gave me nice light to start sketching out my tarot designs by!..

To me Summer mornings always smell like fresh grass, you can smell the coldness of the night waiting to be warmed by the sun, especially when the dawn breaks at around 4.30 (I used to work an early morning shift so saw many dawns lol). Winter mornings are always crisp and acidy, making you draw breath and the coldness hurting your lungs lol But the stars in winter are always more clear and bright - not too sure why lol But at dawn on a winters morning the stars are so bright the sky seems filled with them.

hehe...I've always felt that different weather had different smells...and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Nice to know that other people are smelling it and it's not all in my head. Like when it is about to snow..you can smell it. But no one ever believed me.

Phew! Glad I'm not the only one!
Malachite: You tried to sunbathe?! What on Earth has gotten into you!
Anyway, with all these vivid descriptions of the scents of the seasons, I can feel a poem coming on....

i found myself walking in spring just this week and the smell was one of dust. the sand that all winter long saved my butt from slipping on ice is now laying useless and dry on the ground and for me spring is always that smell - dry sand and dust, and sometime soon - in a month or so the late spring scent will drift in - that of salt water from the bay when the ice break.

I remember the summer smells of my childhood with fondness :)
Summer: Swimming pool chlorine... Lemon scented eucalupt trees... freshly cut grass... sunburn cream... sweet water melon...
distant bush fire smoke...

Spring, to me, smells like damp earth. I like this smell. I suppose this is because the earth is damp in spring in my part of North America....and autumn smells like ripe apples and bonfires...slightly smokey.
Summer....hmmm....don't know. Winter smells crisp - can't describe it, it's just "crisp".
