Does anyone know any way of sharpening up your thirst reflex...I think mine is either very broken, or has been shouting at me for so long I've forgotten its there...
I'm pretty sure its got something to do with why I feel so tired all the time....although posting here at 11:30 most days might have something to do with it...

Curiously enough, the way to 'wake up' your thirst is to drink quite a lot for while, even if you don't feel the need. Paradoxically, this actually makes you feel thirst when you need to. Maybe it is getting those fluid levels up. So, drink up!

Hi Malachite,
Do you mean thirst as in drink or as in knowledge? If you mean drink- thirst then I'm with Marion, drink plenty of pure water. :)

Lack of a thirst for knowledge doesn't make you tired, it makes you want to watch professional wrestling. :D

everyone needs to drink at least 1500 ml. of water a day to avoid dehydration. this comes down to about 8 glasses a day. i try to drink 2000. tea or soft drinks don't count because they cause you to lose fluids(diuretic effect) and end up dehydrating you more. it has to be water. the best way to tell if you are dehydrated is the color of your urine. the darker it is, the more dehydrated you are. (i won't bore you w/ the reasons why this is so). the lighter, the more hydrated. you could have a fluid and electrolyte imbalance that could partially explain your fatigue but fatigue can be caused by so many things. i'd suggest drinking something like gatorade to restore your electrolytes and get some extra rest over the next week. fatigue could be caused by an infection, anemia(iron poor blood), depression or lack of exercise. if you try my suggestions and don't feel any better, i'd strongly recommend seeing a doctor.
thus sayeth the nursing student...

Apparently, 4 out of 5 mistakes are due to being dehydrated!! I try to drink 2L of water a day. If you are trying to cleanse your body, drink pure water. But if you are really dehydrated, and dont want to be peeing out all your valuable fluids, add a LITTLE juice or cordial to the water. Your body will then have something to "hold on to", and the water will take longer to go through your body therefore hydrating you better (try 75ml juice/cordial to 1L water).
Or you could just hook yourself up to some IV fluids (OK - Vet Nurse coming out now LOL) :D
