What made you choose your nick in here???

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 04 Mar 2002, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Ramses  04 Mar 2002
Hey folks...I´m sorry, but here I am, starting another post...hehe...

Guess now it´s the opportunity we have to know our friends from Aeclectic a bit better...so, I´ll start...hope you follow my example...lol...

My name is Daniel, I´m 22...I live in São Paulo, a very cosmopolitan city in Brazil...
I chose " Ramses " for a nickname here, cause I simply worship the Ancient Egyptian culture, and Ramses II was its greatest pharaoh of all times, ruling Egypt in a wise way for about 63 years, until he died, by the age of 87...great, isn´t it?...If you´ve read my other post, you already knew then my obsession about the Ancient Egyptian culture...

Now, how about you, my dear friends???...Where do the nicks "Kiama", "Diana", "Pollux", "Major Tom", "Jade", "Geminilady", "Purplelady", "Mojo", "Aciddragon", "Mateo06", "Funkpuss", "Moonklad", and so many others come from???????????????
I´d really love to know aboutyour story, my friends....
Love for all of you...

LOVE, PEACE AND HARMONY TO YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aciddragon  05 Mar 2002
Mine is simple compared to yours. :) For as long as I can remember I have love fantasy books. I remember reading books that described all different types of dragons. I loved how I pictured them in my mind. The power and shear beauty of them. The always were old and very wise creatures. So, about 8 years ago. I when to MSN gaming online and there I need to create a nickname. Fire Dragon was poplar along with just dragon. So, I picked acid dragon. There was no one at that time who had it. All my email accounts are acid_dragon. I own the hotmail account for that too which I had someone email me and tell me to give it to them cause the name was theirs. LOL Nope. I feel like I was the one who started the acid dragon line. hehe But, the answer your question. It is just for the shear love of fantasy and magic and I just fell in love with the name. Many people get strange ideas when they see the acid part...but oh well. (aka the drug acid) Keep them posts coming. I enjoy them. They stir good and bad emotions. All of which is good if used right and sometimes it helps to see how others feel. So you can say - Wow maybe I'm not crazy after all. hehe ;)
btw - My real name is Louis. I live in Cincinnati OH and I'm 30 but still a kid at heart..er for the most part. hehe

Major Tom  05 Mar 2002
Ramses - There really isn't any mystery or fantasy to Major Tom.

My given name is Thomas - my friends call me Tom. I spent 12 years on active duty in the US Air Force where I achieved the rank of Major. Put them together and you get Major Tom. }>

I'm 46 and live in the rural east of England known as East Anglia.

catlin  05 Mar 2002
Hi, Ramses,

Guess there is a pretty similar thread somewhere (maybe it was in the chat forum), but anyway, this is how I became catlin: my second name is Katarina which becomes Catherine in English or Caitlin. As I could not get Caitlin at gmx, I toyed around with this name and it became catlin which is also pretty ok, as I love cats.

You may also encounter me at B&N as Santeria or in ebay as nícoleflamel.

Moonklad  05 Mar 2002
Well, Moonklad is the name I have used online for ages but here is the way I came up with it. Of course its a twist of the word skyclad-a term used for ritual nudity in the Wiccan religion and how I prefer to practice my rituals. but its also the way I want to project myself. The light I want to be seen in. Everything is beautiful under moonlight.
Its my tribute to the Moon Goddesses of the world and the amazing silver light they bring into my life. I want to reflect that wonder back into the world.
Sometimes I also go by the name Moonklad13 which to me suggests a coven of witches. 13 being a traditional number in a coven and its also my favorite number. Anyway..thats my story.
Blessings,
Moonklad

Diana  05 Mar 2002
No nickname here, Ramses! My real name is Diana, and it's suits me for most purposes.

Kiama  05 Mar 2002
Well, my real name is Kimberley, or Kim for short. I was born in East Anglia (Hi Major Tom!) and now live one the South Coast of England in Dorset.

Kiama is an aboriginal word meaning 'Great Spirit'. It was, for me, originally part of a ritual name I took on, which was Kiama Nimbuwah, which together means 'Great Spirit Standing Alone', which to me, signifies my strength and my ability to face myself alone with no worries, the ability to stand naked in front of a mirror and like, and accept what I see. It is an affirmation of just how much difference I, as a single person, can make, and that no matter what anyone says, I am still something. I was recently alerted by Diana to the fact that the middle 3 letters in Kiama make the two words, 'I am'. I like this very much, as it signifies integrity, and the acceptance of who I am.

Anyway, Kiama Nimbuwah really didn't stick, so it became shortened to Kiama. Now, Aeclectic is very much a second home for me, and the netties here are my second family. I talk with all you guys on here more than I do with my real life friends, and we certainly share more than I do with my real life friends. (Trying to get them to talk about such topics as true forgivenness and death isn't the easiest thing in the world) As such, I have become Kiama in everything but real life. In ritual, in Nature, and here on Aelectic.

There. Long story, but that's how it is.

Bella  05 Mar 2002
Thanks for this post Ramses, it's bringing back some nice memories for me...
my real name is Deirdre and I live in New York City.
I've been using Bella online for a while. It's really a tribute to my paternal grandmother, Isabella. I have an old tintype photo of her when she was probably around my age now (30s), and one day I was staring at it and realized that I look like her--a lot. As I was looking into her eyes, I felt myself falling into the picture and really connecting with her spirit. While at the time it was a bit frightening and weird, it was also very powerful in a postive way.
Also, when I was young and she was still alive, she also used to call me Bella (she only spoke Italian, this means beautiful). I guess the name just makes me feel connected to her every time I use it.

cayacia  05 Mar 2002
My real name is Becky and I live in SW Michgan USA. My nickname I have been using for years. It is a mix of the first character I started to write about, Catelina Cia. Her nickname was Caya in the stories, so I put them together-cayacia. It was my email too for a while, caycia@hotmail.com, but i kept getting awful yucky junkmail so I dont use it anymore. It was a Star Wars story, so I came up with Pretty Jedi to use for my email and website ^_^. Surprisningly no one else has come up with Pretty Jedi for login names and such, and absolutely no one uses cayacia.

Mystick Dragon  05 Mar 2002
Well, my real name is Sabrina, I'm 18 and a half, and I live in Edmonds WA USA. I choose my name Dragon because I've always been fasinated by their grace, beauty, and wisdom. Around Samhain, I started working with them personally. Now I have two wonderful guardians. Kip-Fire dragon and Lucky-Air.

If anyone wants to IM me, you canreach me at DMoonDragonHarle or OArisugawaJuriO or EvilDemonCat or PrincessKachiana

--Dragon

Bings  06 Mar 2002
My real name is Dianne. Bings is actually a nickname I have had sense I was a baby. I grew up with it and even went through high school being called Bings!!! When I started chatting on the internet over 7 years ago and going to forums such as this I needed a nickname to use. So after being out of school and married for 11 years I resurrected my old nickname.

When I started coming here I thought that it was such a boring Nickname for this forum. But it's me, it fits and I couldn't imagine using another nickname on line. :-)

Dianne

Emily  06 Mar 2002
I've always liked the name Emily and I've not used it online before, its very different from other names I've used in forums, so thats why I chose it , very boring I know lol :)

amyel  06 Mar 2002
I thought I responded last night, but it disappeared!

My nickname is pretty boring. It's a combination of my first name (amy) and the first initials of both my last names (when I married, I hypenated).

My sister - who sometimes comes here - is Lunar_rabbit - and she has a much more interesting nickname & reason for her choice.

Kaleidoscope Eyes  06 Mar 2002
Very interesting thread!

The reason for my nick is quite straightforward: I've been interested in various aspects of the so-called "Rosicrucian" traditions (and there are many) for as long as I can remember.

My real name is Rick. For the record, I'm gonna turn 49 on May 29, and I live in a little town about 15 miles S.E. of Raleigh, North Carolina.

truthsayer  07 Mar 2002
a pastor friend of mine gave me that name during a conversation on spirituality. he is a baptist minister but also practices the nature religion of native americans. we were talking about my place in my family(tribe). i was trying to define how i fit in or don't and he blurted out,"you're a truthsayer!" i felt really flattered but really related to his meaning of it. i began using it as an online name. since then i've met some online friends in the 3D world. they tell me "truth" suits me better than my given name of teresa which is fine. i've gotten to the point i'll answer to it like a regular name.

i am a student nurse. a 40 y/o piscean, married w/ 2 cats and a dog. i live in the midatlantic region of the US in a small rural town. i am eclectic spiritually. i can't even pin myself down as pagan even tho i know many who would b/c i don't fit the Bible belt norm. oh, well! such is life! ;)

blumoon  07 Mar 2002
mine is pretty simple, i used to frequent the wbs chat webpages when they were still up a few years back, and i used to use blu as my handle (blue is my fav colour), so when i needed a username/nickname for aeclectic i tacked on moon because i love the moon :-p

VGimlet  07 Mar 2002
My name IRL is Barbra, and I live near Seattle, Washington. I'm 40, happily married to Ken (think about it, LOL) for 20 years, without offspring but with pets.

For some reason I couldn't get my usual name on this board (VGimlet) which is short for Vodka gimlet, in honor of my dad, who owned a bartending school for many years. I am VGimlet almost everywhere, and have been for years, but one of my alternate names is Lilyaka, taken from a character in an obscure science fiction trilogy.

I didn't realize there were so many Lily-like names on here, or I would have chosen a different one. :)

fairyhedgehog  07 Mar 2002
I've been using Fairy Hedgehog as my nick since I first came online with unlimited access.

I originally used Princess Orange when we had very limited access with Compuserve. I couldn't just use 'Orange' because it was taken. (My French nickname was 'Orangina' because my name is Gina.)

The name 'Fairy Hedgehog' is a joke alias of one of the witches in a Terry Pratchett story 'Wiches Abroad' which is my 'desert island book'. It just seemed to fit somehow, and I kind of feel like it is more real than my real name, cos I chose it myself :)

On AOL I have to be 'faeryhedgehog' (note spelling) because my "real" name was already taken :( (I'd had it a while by then, so it felt strange to know that someone out there has 'my' name.)

BTW, Lilyaka, what was the obscure sci fi trilogy your name came from? I love sci fi :)

Sorry for going on. All the best to you all,

FH

kayne  07 Mar 2002
'Kayne' is a variation on the spelling of my sirname which is way too christian to suit me. Plus I like the way it looks. That's it for me... not very exciting...

Pollux  07 Mar 2002
You really wanna know?
OK.

Pollux is one of the Gemini twins, the other being Castor. They were borne by the same mother, of course, but had different fathers: Pollux's was Zeus, and Castor's I don't remember. :(
However, they loved each other a lot. BUT a gloomy day, Castor was killed ( I think while fighting); Pollux was so down and down he thought he wouldn't get over it. So Zeus, his father, makes him content, letting him stay with his bro for ever and ever. HOW? He sticks Pollux in the firmament, beside Castor. So they did the Gemini Costellation! :)

I chose this because I have a twin sister, Serena, and our relationship is like Pollux and Castor's: if it weren't for me, we wouln't talk to each other either. It's mostly me who look for the other, me who asks her how her day was, and me who misses her... There's a nice story about a thing when we were born, maybe I'll post it in the future... However, I am the Pollux of the situation! :)
And I am also very alligned with my Gemini part. I really am.
That's it. :)

Pollux, Pollux, how can you forget who your own brother's father was? Firstly, there are two versions: one is that they both had Zeus as a father. The other version is that Castor was the son of the King of Sparta, Tyndare.
That is your history lesson of the day.
:D

Hush  07 Mar 2002
well, whenever im online i have one of 4 nicknames: Machiavellian, Hush or Attika Finch or Gash.

i thnik i tried Gash but it was already taken, and i didnt think machiavellian really suited the boards.

i would quite like to have Attika Finch, i cant think why i didnt choose it, heh.

but they all have a reason:

machiavellian - i just heard the word one day, looked it up, and decided i liked it. heh.

Gash - slang (around here anyway) for crap etc. hehe.

Attika Finch - attica finch is a character from to kill a mockingbird, and i have a thing about words with K's in instead pf c's, so i just used that.

Hush - my favourite song by one of my favourite bands - tool! also my favourite buffy episode. and also people have a tendency to say it to me. heh.

all my reasons are horribly simple...hehe

isthmus nekoi  07 Mar 2002
Isthmus is a name I came across very synchronistically. It's a story I love to tell, but very loooooooong story so to sum it up it's the name of a woman who I came across in a vision. If you can believe it, isthmus is an English word! It's pronounced it-mus.

Nekoi is a Japanese family name, and includes the kanji for 'cat'. Isthmus gets on quite well w/cats. She also hails from the Heian era of Japan so that's why she gets a Japanese name.

Hush> are you a fan of Tori Amos as well? It's just your sig - kiss the violets... like the lyrics from one of her songs Cloud on my Tongue. Have you heard her duet w/MJK from Tool?...

Pollux  07 Mar 2002
Wow, I'm eager to use "Meewah's layout" :D

Diana: Thank you! I just couldn't think of it! I knew he was a King... And you know what, this is twice strange coz there's a friend of mine we used to tease by calling him "Tindaro", that is the translation... I think it is the "new forum appeal" disease! :)

isthmus: I believe "nekoi" means "dressed like a cat" in Japanese. It's from "X", a manga by CLAMP in which there's a character calles Yuzurika Nekoi, and she explains her name this way... However, it's no dogma! :D

This is for you all if you know that:
Is it true that Tori Amos is a Wiccan?
I got excited when I read that (on a Phyllis Curott book).
Do you know other VIPs or stars that are wiccans?
(Sort of Tabloid and cheatchatting... :) )

Kissa  07 Mar 2002
Hi!

I am Karen from France. Well actually I live in Finland now, with DH, our daughter and two cats.

My nickname is "kissa" which means "cat" in finnish. I love cats and IMO the word "kissa" really sounds like a nice girl name. I like it ;)

Karen aka Kissa

purplelady  07 Mar 2002
I used to be "marlene" which is really my middle name. But the previous time the boards went down and we could pick new nicknames And passwords , I decided I wanted a fresh start. So , I picked "purplelady" because I Love the color purple, and I thought it sounded.................mysterious and romantic!
Hey aciddragon, I once had the name "Iofthedrgn" at aol.com. Got any strange ideas about That?! LOL

Hush  07 Mar 2002
HUGE tori fan over here!! HEY HEY! ME!

she's not wiccan..."im real into faeries, you know?"

direct quote :D

aciddragon  07 Mar 2002
Well, That bring two things to mind. One Stephen King book I once read. The Eye of the Dragon..or so I believe it's called. Second book that comes to mind is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. But the Stephen King book fits more. There in the Throne room was the head of a dragon and behind it was hidden passageway. The youngest son witness he's fathers death thur the eyes of the dragon. Very cool book if you haven't read it. I wish I had the time to read like I use too, but at last work takes up most my time now. Grr. :)

Temperance413  07 Mar 2002
Ramses,

I used the card I need to work on the most. So Temperance reminds me all the time to keep it cool. Nothing really should swing me out of balance, at least not enogh to make my life a mess. Lots of changes over the past year. In order to cope I need the reminder!!!

thanks for the interest!

Melvis  07 Mar 2002
Hey, all!

I'll try to condense the story down to a minimum of verbage! ;) My real name is Melani, and everybody usually calls me Mel.

Many years ago I went to a friends house and walked right in. The family was all in the kitchen and couldn't see the front door, so my friend's father (who happened to be a big Elvis fan, and played a lot of his music at home) called out, "Who's here?" And I called back, "Mel is!" My friends' twin brothers, who were around 9 or 10 at the time, misunderstood what I said and started yelling, "Melvis is here! Melvis is here!"

The name has stuck ever since! :D

Peace,

Melvis

isthmus nekoi  08 Mar 2002
Pollux> Ah! I love X! Nekoi's also the last name of one of the CLAMP members (Mick) ^_^ Yuzuriha is quite adorable. She seems like the only character who'll make it out alive out of this whole X mess :P (and maybe Kusanagi too...) Everyone else is just sooooooo angst ridden it's ridiculous!

Oh getting so OT... Tori has thanked faeries on her albums in the liner notes. It's very cute. Had the pleasure of seeing her during the strange little tour. I was sort of disappointed w/her previous 2 albums but SLG really got me hooked again :P

purplelady> not only do you sound mysterious, you match perfectly with aecletic's website ^_~

Me too. :D It's from the Highroad Trilogy, by Alis Rasmussen. Who now writes under the name Kate Elliot, if you are familiar with her. (Some of the characters from HT appear in her Jaran series.)

fairyhedgehog  08 Mar 2002
Hi Lilyaka,

This is a completely new sci fi author to me. So I shall see if I can get hold of the trilogy you mention or maybe some of her more recent stuff.

All the very best,

FH :)

.dc  08 Mar 2002
i have two... originally my login was innowen... which is the name i prefer to go by nowadays, formally online and with majickal events.

however, i have always posted and have always been know as .dc in the web. it was a nickname given to me by a friend in college in 1992. it's short for dragon chylde... and it suits me as i too have an infinity for dragons. i have four faerie dragon protectors... 3 live at home and 1 stays with me here at work.

i find if very interesting how a lot of us have an afinity for dragons or the word in our names.

thanks for sharing as it's interesting to see why people think and choose their personal names.

blessed be,
.dc

Malachite  08 Mar 2002
My name comes from the combination of me having a malachite pendant on a cord round my wrist that i use as a mandala, and my lack of imagination on usernames...

I also visualise myself in the same colour when meditating/projecting, which is why i got the pendant in the first place...
(malachite is a kind of emerald-green colour, for anyone that hasn't seen it....its an ore of copper.)

My rl name is Adam, so I guess I'm destined to be named for colours...

Oh yeah! Damien the Evil Cat! For the benefit of those who are reading: Me and Malachite were in my room at Oxford Uni (We were on a week's Summer School there) and it was quite late, say midnight-ish. Anyway, this cat was outside the door meowing horribly, so I went into the kitchen and gave it a bowl of milk to shut it up, before it woke the other girls up who were in the other rooms. Anyway, we had a peaceful 10 minutes, but then the cat came back. It prowled around outside the door for a while, then started mewling again. When that didn't get it anywhere, it decided to jump up at the door knob! It started scratching its paws underneath the gap in the door which was rather large, and it was making a terrible noise.... It just wouldn't go away! I as actually quite scary! And the only place we could get it so that it wouldn't come back was the stairwell, which was quite a way away from my room. So, being brave, I opened the door, armed with a coat-hanger, and teased the cat with it (You know what cats are like, they'll try and catch things waved in front of of them) So, in this way, I led it to the stairwell opened the door, and threw the coathanger onto the stairs. The cat went after the coat hanger, so I shut the door behind it... Thus, I saved the day. (Or night, in this case)

We dubbed the cat Damien, The Cat That Wouldn't Go Away....

Ah, the memories!

LOL! Sounds like my cat Morgan! Only he does that at about 4am every morning when it just starts to get light and he can hear the birds outside. He usually get thrown outside to be with them...

jade  09 Mar 2002

:)

tempestfire  10 Mar 2002
when trying to decide on online/ and spiritual nicknames tempestfiremuse seemed to suit me. Tempest means "violent storm" - Fire - is my element and I have always been drawn to and fascinated by fire. Muse- one of 9 sister goddesses thought to inspire creativity. I chose muse because I would like to be that creative inspiration for others. I then just shortened it to tempestfire. The more I use the name- the more I feel like it really does suit me and my personality. It is part of who I am- and a way to get back in touch with the very powerful, wonderful, independent person I was before I was married. This name is very personal and has power for me. A strength of sorts.

lunar_rabbit  10 Mar 2002
Rabbits seem to keep finding me on my spiritual path, even though I never really had a particular affinity to them. But looking back, I realized there has always been a rabbit when there was something to pay attention to ... I believe (and I know this sounds hokey) that it was the awakening of my own spirituality. Perhaps it was Goddess calling me. Saying, "Hey! Pay attention to this! I'm over heeeeeeere!" :-)

Lunar obviously has to do with the moon. That is a reflection of my belief in a higher power.

So, Lunar Rabbit is the name I use online when I'm in "witchy" mode. I use a variation of my real name on various parenting, gardening, etc. sites.

[chucking] Sometimes I think I'm about as weird as my husband tells me I am.

DollChica  10 Mar 2002
Well, I was Di on the old board. Diana's already taken and I'm known as DollChica on a couple of doll collecting boards, so DC it is...

the other diana :D

Strange2  10 Mar 2002
My Strange2 nickname comes from another of my interests: comic books. My wife and I have a web site called the Dr. Strange: Sanctum Sanctorum. Dr. Strange is our favorite comic book character: he's a magician and the "Master of the Mystic Arts" in Marvel Comics. When we were creating email addresses for our site, my wife chose Strange1, and I naturally chose Strange2.

I'm Strange2, how about you?!

Liliana  11 Mar 2002
I met my husband at a role playing game convention, he was the dungeon master for a game of dungeons and dragons I played. Duringthatgame I used the name Liliana, months later when he introduced me to the net I used it.

If you wantto know the embarassing truth behind it, I was trying to numerologically figure out a magic name (Wiccans know what I mean) and I like lily's so I was tryingfor something like that, and came up with Liliana. I readded my number later and found out I got my number TOTALLY wrong so scrapped Liliana for another correct name, which I still use :)

I also like the balanceof the name, i think that
has to do with my justice personality

Anyway Im 25, live in the exact center of Pennsylvania with my husband and daughers (2 and 4 years old) I spend my time discussing spirituality and related practises (like tarot) Im an eclectic Christian Wiccan in faith. I also spend time on my Playstion 2, playing the Final Fantasy series mostly

Curious.... Being Wiccan I have no idea what you mean about figuring out a magick name numerologically. I'd love to hear how to do that! :-)

Phoenix  14 May 2002
Well, I used to be PhoenixRising on the old forum, but with the transfer, Iam now Phoenix. I don't know why though. I think it is because my spirit guide is a phoenix. I have also been very interested in the phoenix in general.

My name is Jackie, my boyfriend is Kyle=Jackyle is our signature name that we use when we get a high score on a "megatouch video game" that we both like to play...Plus, it's almost spelled like Jackal. By the way, this is for Moonklad. My boyfriend wants to know when you practice rituals, and what part of South Carolina to go looking..LOL

funkpuss  15 May 2002
Hi

I've only just noticed this thread......

I don't like the name funkpuss in this forum But I now use funky or FP because the name funkpuss sounds a bit rude and fishy.

Well anyway getting to the point as well as a clairvoyant I also design and a few years ago I just done music CD covers and done some freelance work. Also when I was signing up to this forum nothing came to mind so i just used my e-mail name.

I will change my name at some point..well very soon. but I will let you all know!

Funky:*

aeonx  15 May 2002
I have always been either ~aeonx~ or ~edenx~, but aeonx has been my all-time favorite. My name is divided in two: aeon and x.

The first definition of 'aeon' is A period of immeasurable duration. The second one is the one I identify with: Gnostic Philosophy: One of the embodiments of the divine attributes of the Eternal Being.

Among the higher [ae] ons are Mind, Reason, Power, Truth, and Life . Note: Eons were considered to be emanations sent forth by God from the depths of His grand solitude to fulfill various functions in the material and spiritual universe.
In Gnosticism: a divine power or nature emanating from the Supreme Being and playing various roles in the operation of the universe.
Definitions gotten from dictionary.com.

The 'x' symbolise me as being one of the aeons. :)

The strange thing is that I didn't know the meaning of 'aeon' when I chose it. One day it just popped up in my mind, and I decided to use it. Then one day I checked 'aeon' on dictionary.com, and was quite surprised. I love the thought of being an emanation from God. *s*

lunalafey  15 May 2002
well, like some of you out there, I love purple, dragons and the moon, as well as many other things. My CB(citizens band radio) handle is dragon lady. BUT dragon's are popular and getting that title as a universal one, impossible. Other nicknames that I use where taken and to customize them was getting to far from the original. I wanted something totally different that no one else would have. I came up with lunalafey for my email. Later I found this site, and well it fits perfectly here. lunalafey is a take on one of my favorite legendary characters Morgan Le Fay. On the Moon card in the legend deck, sits Morgan Le Fay. The moon, that wonderful silver orb. I have always loved her. I always put my bed so that I can see her when I'm in it. Luna, spanish for the moon, la=the. Le is french, so I went with spanish to go with luna. because the 'e' turned to 'a', I turned the 'a' into 'e' for fay/fey Morgan's name, both first and last has many spelling vaiations( fae, fay, etc.) I choose this spelling FEY before I knew it's true(english)definition. Turns out to be ironc in a way. Fey means fated soon to die and often showing this by unnatural gaiety, on the verge of sudden violent death. I personally have cheated death on a few occasions, my soulmate was not as lucky. His death was sudden and violent. So iguess in a way it could also be a tribute to him in a sick way. There is a Fe in spanish and it means faith and belief. But FAY, means fairy and that was the intention. however it is, it works.
My real name, Suzanne. first, middle and last names are all 7 letters and all have double letters. funny huh ?

Geenius at Wrok  15 May 2002
I use "Geenius at Wrok" here because I use it everywhere else.

I use it everywhere else because, back in the mid-'90s, when everyone was jumping on the Internet bandwagon, I realized that the only way to have a unique identity and to ensure that no one else would have come up with your chosen username first was to dredge your personal history for the most obscure inside joke you could come up with.

So here's the explanation: Back in middle school, all sixth graders had to take a class called "group guidance," which was sort of a feeble combination of bigotry prevention and study skills, two admirable pursuits made intolerably tedious by the teacher, Mrs. P—. One of our assignments was, I kid you not, to make signs to hang on our bedroom doors to alert everyone that we were studying and not to be bothered.

The sign I created said, "DO NOT DISTERB—GEENIUS AT WROK."

When I got it back, Mrs. P— had marked all of my spelling "errors" in red pen.

That was when I first realized that I was quite probably smarter than one of my teachers—not just potentially smarter, but smarter right then and there.

Aha! I had always wondered why you had 'mispelled' it... I was gonna ask... But now I know anyway!

cricket  15 May 2002
At one point in time there used to be a whole group of people that would get together and go do.... whatever it was we did. *L* One night we were all out in a pasture (I think we were cow tipping) and I was in a particularly good mood and kept chattering on about nothing. Finally one of the guys told me to shut up because I was "as annoying as one of those #*&&@^#& crickets out there" that had been chirping all night. Ever since then, when in a chipper mood, people have called me cricket.

Umbrae  16 May 2002
Umbrae is short for my screen name Umbrae_Draco.
Umbrae is the shadow on the earth caused by an eclipse.
Draco is Dragon (or worm).

My brother-in-law calls me Gato, because I have used up at least four lives (1 near miss car accident, one sky-diving accident, one white-water rafting incident, and September 11).

I figure I live under the shadow of the dragon.

aeonx  18 May 2002
Oh Umbrae! (((((((((((((*HUGS*))))))))))))
I feel for you. I've had some near-death-experiences myself, but 'September 11' gives me the shivers...

Lots of love and light,

~aeonx~

half of my ancestors came from the carpathian mountain region, so i have an interest in the area. the slavic peoples and many of my other ancestors believed that the 'tween times, were the times of magick, the times when the veil between the worlds, was the thinnest. the zorya, were the goddesses of the dawn and evening.

ramses; i have ancestors from sao paulo also!

floracove  21 May 2002
When I first skipped into this corner of the web I was new to all of it and did not realize that we could have so many different names, and when asked for one I remembered seeing "faunabay" and thought it was beautiful, and saw no flora and we all know for there to be balance there must be both, hence "floracove" And didn't you all need me here? And it does seem to fit...don't you think? And just out of curiosity haven't things calmed down a bit since I have been here? I want you all to know that even though I do not really know you that I love each and everyone of you. That's right SD even you...(hope this doesn't get me hollered at)...No matter as long as those that can dish can also consume! If I had chosen another it would have been Lavender Lace, I go by that elsewhere...
