I can't wait!

I just can't wait to go to university! I'm so looking forward to it now! I've spent the last seven years at the same damn school, with mostly the same people... I want a change! I want a new place to live in, new people to see each day.

I wanna go throught the 'first day' process again. I wanna make loads of new friends, and I wanna have the challenges of scrimping and saving... I wanna really get my teeth stuck into my degree... I wanna sit down at a desk for hours on end, really getting into what I learn... I want the bookshelves full of books specifically for my subject (Philosophy). I wanna have a huge folder of all my really intelligent essays... I want that really hard and long dissertation thing to happen!

I want to be living as an adult, with my partner, on our own... Running our place how I think it should be run. I wanna come home from University, study, then cook the dinner ready for when the boyf returns from work. I want the extra long holidays (1 month for Easter, 1 month for Xmas, 2 months for Summer).

I really am looking forward to it all now. I'm ready for the challenge! I CAN'T WAIT!

Kiama *Getting impatient*

Woo-hoo! Well done Kiama - you will love it!

(Of course... we are going to bring this post up about this time next year when you are desperately trying to finish assignments AND study for exams AND take care of a part time job! - LOL )

You will be fine of course!!! :D :D :D

Hummmm, you know what...? You make me wanna go (back) too...! But I have had my years of Uni, I guess, just as you will have yours (patience m'dear, patience! :D ) - and let me tell you: It is the BEST thing, really. Between all the noodles, the crazy round-the-clock-studying-sessions (I had this thing about not being able to sleep even when I should, so I'd get up at 4 am and start baking or something... Odd, huh...??), the courses that just weren't any fun, and constantly feeling broke and overworked (in 10 years time, I can't say that I don't still feel constantly broke and overworked though...!) - we always managed to have tons of really good times!

There will be hard times, of course, but you seem to be aware and welcome learning to cope with that too, so I think you're well covered!

Are you going this fall? Good luck and congratulations on having a couple of great years ahead of you!

Love and light!
Jenny :)

Lucky you! sound like fun

I never had the chance to go to uni and I only went to adult ed when I was 24 and that's leaving it a bit late. I wish I had the time again.
What made you choose that subject??

Kiama's a strong Sagittarian streak.
She's the Lady of Philosophy of the Forums, and possibly I am her valet. Nothing more I ask.

KIAMA!!! I am sure you'll enjoy that. As far as I am concerned, I lived high school as a prison, although I did many more things than now I do. Now I am experiencing what freedom can be...

university is nothing like high school. i'll never forget my first few days. i was awe struck at the wide range of ppl and cultural diversity. i changed my style of dress almost immediately much to my parents' chagrin. :p i was right on the pulse of all these cultural experiences--plays, musicals, symphonies, etc. at lot of this free or at reduced prices. i went to the same college as the actress sandra bullock went to. i wish i knew if i ever saw her campus. i did see a play that michael learned--ma walton was in. ppl tend not to be clickish and you should be able to make a wide range of friends. you'll be amazed at how your mind will be expanded in a brief time. if i didn't have to go to classes and study i'd love to go back to have fun this time!!!

Well, with an Aeclectic cookbook to help you, you won't have any excuses (it'll be prepared in May.) :D
Hey, and when it's cooking, you may even find time to log on to Aeclectic!

I have been studying it at A-level for the last two years, and found I really have a knack for it. So far, my last year's worth of essays have been under-graduate style, and the last exams gave me top marks in 2 out of the 4 Philosophy exams. (The other two lost a couple of marks...!)

I love all the ideas that are thrown around by all those long-dead Philosophers... I love re-enacting their arguments in my head, and picking holes in their arguments, finding the flaw to their logic. I love applying a different theory to different situations...

Philosophy is one of those addictive studies. Not only do you find out the answers to some very difficult questions, but you learn to ask more questions. You learn how to counter-argue any argument. You learn how to form a coherent, convincing argument yourself, and how to get your ideas across. You learn the etiquete of arguments, theories, and the disprovation of theories..

Anyway... My Mother always said I'd get a degree in arguing! How right she was... ;P

I wish you all the luck in the world! Its sounds so interesting what you study, one of my 6th form friends went to do that at Durham? Im at uni now and should be living with my fiance but he lost his job and has had to move back home, which is where im stuck too now. He is only just getting back on his feet so chances of finding a nice place before next semester are slim. I've made some good friends this year but want to keep them as friends and I think living with them day in day out and then seeing them in college might put a strain on the friendship. But I might give it a go next year! I can't wait to have the kitchen to myself my mum drives me insane with her perfectionist organising.
Anyway just try and budget your money wisely but don't forget to include pub/club/bar money in that budget or you won't have anything to put in your nice new kitchen! I can tell you are going to be more than your average student anyway, have lots of fun is my advice!

Congrats on going to college! I know how you feel. Last summer, I was getting ready to go to college myself and I felt that if I didn't leave I was going to explode. College has really turned my life around in such a short time. I'm taking a philosophy class in the fall, so you might have to come here and help me.. :) I'm a psychology major myself. It's weird how you find what you want to do with your life. For some reason psych just light some little fire in me somewhere...my friends laugh at me because I like talking about Freud. Oh well!!! Anyway, I wish you all the best in your educational future. College is a great place to be...oh yes...and there are lots of single people there too. ;)
