Summer is approaching... but I don't need summer to feel like Ice Cream at all!!! So creamy, sweet, fresh!!!
In Italy it is a sort of Art, and it is mostly produced by a kind of "artisans". There is plenty of automatisation, but the products are just fresh, with fresh ingredients and all.
But of course we also have the "branded ones", like Algida [the italian equivalent of "walls" (sp?) in uk, i suppose] .
What's your favourite flavour?
Beware, this TOP 3 is purely intended to freak you all out! :P
1 - Torroncino (do you understand this?)
2 - White Chocolate
3 - Coffee

Hi!
Interesting question, and not that difficult at all:
1) ALL Italian ice cream (Yeah, yeah - you guys win!!)
2) ALL Swedish ice cream
3) ALL other ice cream...
;) :D ;)
On the other hand, Pollux - no I'm not sure I know what Torroncino is, but do tell, I'm going to Sicily this summer (in 1 month and 29 days...!), I might get my hands (and mouth..!) on one!

hands down bryer's butter pecan ice cream. it's the only kind we buy. if i go elsewhere for an ice cream cone, i may get chocolate b/c bryer's has the BEST butter pecan and chocolate is usually done okay by other companies. even our animals are addicted to butter pecan. they sit around and anxiously watch while we eat a bowl in hopes of being the lucky one who gets to lick the bowl!! LOL

My three favorites are...
1. Ben & Jerry's Phish Food (Chocolate icecream with chocolate fish shaped chunks, caramel and marshmallow swirls)
2. Soft serve icecream - Choclate/Vanilla Twist (its not the best icecream or the fanciest but it is filled with all those wonderful childhood memories)
3. Just plain Chocolate

Has anyone ever tasted taro ice-cream? The appropriate ice-cream for Tarot enthusiasts, and absolutely, marvellously and perfectly wonderful on the taste buds. Delicate and perfumed, with a hint of exotic islands.
If you've never tasted it, go into a Thai or an Indonesian store and ask if they've got it.
You'll be thanking me for the rest of your lives. :)

My favourites are :-
Rum Raisin,
Caramel (with chunks of caramel in )
and real vanilla (with the little flecks of vanilla pod in it ) -
There is a little shop in my town that has been there for around 100 years and they sell all their own sweets and chocolates - real old fashioned stuff like coconut ice, fudge, nut cracknel, brittle toffee - bad place to visit if your on a diet - but the ice cream they sell, make it there too, is a soft white vanilla made with cornish cream, its a dream to eat :)

In my family, you wont be accepted if you don't love ice cream....
I used to work at a shop that made candy and ice cream, 6 months and I got fat...I was a senior in H.S then. I weigh less now thanks to kids. But still eat ice cream. sometimes I will have four different flavors at a time in the freezer.
Kiama, the only good strawberry ice cream IS the real strawberries..I prefer my strawberry ice cream in shake form, I ALWAYS ask if it's real strawberries and not the syrup. Have you tried Ben and Jerry's Cool Brittania ?
vanilla with strawberries and chocolate coverd shortbread cookies. HEAVENLY...
Hagen Daz Vanilla Swiss Almond
Dryer's Mocha Almond Fudge
Chocolate & Peanutbutter
I could go on and on and on.
I actually went into a IC parlor and almost made the scooper sick. I had a banana split with ch.chip, strawberry, paeB & ch. ice cream
topped with strawberries, hot fudge and marshmellow cream(the ONLY time I'll eat this garbage) smotherd in nuts and whip cream, hold the red dyed cherry please....
NOW I HAVE A JOKE FOR THIS TOPIC.....I will have to write it out when I'm not online and come back and post it...stay tuned...

I can't have i-c-e c-r-e-a-m anymore. I am lactose intolerant and those stupid little pills don't work with ice cream for me. I occasionally indulge in Dairy Queen, because it isn't actually milk product.
I miss ice cream.
Sigh.....

I love that trippy Italian stuff - not sorbet, the other stuff ;) My fave flavour is called something like "stracciatella" or something - vanillna ice cream with flakes of chocky in it - YUM!!!!!!! So good, and LOW FAT! mmmmmmmmmmmmmm :P
My fave used to be "Goody Gum Drops" - bubble gum flavoured ice cream with little jelly fruit candies in it. But these have gelatine in them, and I can't eat it cos I'm vegie now - WAAAAHH!!!!! :'(
I love "Bailley's" flavoured ice cream, Rum N Raisin, Cassatta (chock ice cream with cherries and nuts in it!), mint choc chip...
OOPS!! More than three!
Oh Man, I'm going up to the shops RIGHT NOW to buy some - also love that ice cream on a stick thing too! Fave is plain ice cream with choc and almond dip - a "Magnum" they call them here (I think they are Aussie ice creams - you guys make yummy ice cream!)
OK OK OK - I'm going now! Ice cream becons...

HEY!!! "Torrone" is also a typical Sicilian sweet! You'll surely have to opportunity to grab some first quality Torrone there!!! And of course you can also try the Ice-cream flavour... ;)
I am going to Sicily as well. We must meet, DEFINITELY.
I am going this August. What about you?
I think I might PM you... ;)
P.S. Kiama no jealousy! :*

My top three :
- rum raisin (can u actually get drunk if u eat lots of it while sitting in the hot summer sun ???? ;) )
- chocolate with dark chocolate bits
- mövenpick schwarzwälder (see catlin's list above)
I haven't had any icecream this year but we will definitely got to the kiosk tonite. For the first icecream of the year, DH and I go together, after that, we allow ourselves pig on separately ...
And thank you for ruining the diet I was about to plan in the close future ;) (I was only in the "trying to gather motivation"-phase)

You're not the only one, Kaz! I was the same way before I got pregnant. I would have gladly passed up ice cream or chocolate for a bag of potato chips.. or my favorite: Doritos!
However.... I got a sweet tooth when pregnant (2 years ago), and it hasn't gone away, much to the dismay of my waistline.
So, I have to answer the post!
1) Ben & Jerry's "Chubby Hubby" (most aptly named icecream ever). It's got peanuts, pretzels, chocolate, and more.
2) Haagen Daz Rum Raisen
3) Breyer's vanilla with bean specks (esp. with fresh fruit and chocolate sauce on top!)
Nowadays, I'm trying to lose a few pounds so I have been indulging in a lower fat ice cream call "Skinny Cows". They are pretty darn good, too.

As for my faves:
1) my mom's "Heavenly Chocolate": homemade choc. ice cream made with Milky Way bars, chocolate syrup and other good stuff.
2)black cherry
3)pralines & cream (but only with some kind of chips to cut the sweetness)
